My son just bought one with the TSS package and 2wd. We took it for a 50 mile ride today and with the MPG computer in the center screen we were getting about 24mpg at a cruise controlled 70mph and close to 30mpg at a cruise controlled 55mph. Now the mileage will drop to a 16mpg average in town stop n' go.
A real nice review. The so called experts could take a lesson from you sir. Rather than their inflated egos showing through on the review, you did a no nonsense review of this truck. Thanks! Very informative.......
I pick my 2016 Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed TRD Sport 4x4 up next week. Inferno Orange with the black and orange interior, premium and technology package, trailer tow package, all weather mats, door sill protectors, mud guards, predator step bars and a stainless steel exhaust tip....$39,278 MSRP.
I LOVE the high ground clearance on my new Tacoma. Just rolled in to do some BBQing at a park today and the truck just breezed through ditches where sedans had to inch their way through.
hey, I just picked up my sr5 from sparks two days ago and I love it not a lot of wiggle on the road and a good off road experience overall my first truck and I couldn't be happier.
Mike - I have noticed most of the attention is on the TRD so it is nice to get a straightforward review of the SR5. Does the pin strip on the exterior come on all SR5s ? Do they all come with a partial chrome rear bumper ? Thank you.
+Jose Vasquez check in over atTacoma world . Com. those guys will help answer everything about the Tacoma. Same mpg, I'd go V6 for the extra power/torque..
I want one like this one , but 4x4. I can't find a lower trim truck like this one where I'm from. They only have the ones with all the gimmicks and I don't want that.
The trd sport and trd off road are the same price points so why no get the added abilities with the off-road? Also they aren't that much more than the sr5. An extra $35 a month is definitely worth it

+Avindu Morawakage Drum brakes (rear) are more than adequate for this type of vehicle and they keep the price down. www.edmunds.com/car-technology/brakes-drum-vs-disc.html
+Avindu Morawakage Drum brakes make good sense on this type of vehicle. It's not meant for racing and these drum brakes on Tacomas last a super long time. It's not unusual to get well over 100,000 km before they need replacing. Just one more feature that reduces maintenance costs. Check out the lifespan of rear discs on the Colorado and the cost to service them/replace them. A no brainer really....
BUYER BEWARE ! Toyota Frames RUST through ! I have a 2007 Tacoma and the frame is a rusty piece of shit. Toyota refuses to do anything to make it right. Look up Rusty Frames Tacoma ! You find thousands of Tacoma owners with the same problem. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA AGAIN ! If you have frame rot on your Tacoma post every place possible and hit Toyota where it hurts !

The pinstripes are a dealer option. But, I think the chrome rear bumper is standard on SR5..
Thank you for your reply. I am still considering the 2016 Tacoma but not sure of 4 cylinder vs. 6 even though they get same mpg. Any thoughts ?

the SR5 is not a base model though, but it's a little bit better than the SR trim level. this is the way i would get it.
Great review..i liked how toyota finally updated the dash and interior
+bigmac4567 Thanks! Me too...
The TRD sport is so much better looking and has nicer features for not very much more
I love my Tacoma!
the TRD Sport cost $38.000 dollars, but the SR5 like this one is only costs $27.000. i think this is the better truck.
Wow, awesome review sir. Your review was thorough and very informative. You just gained a new sub for sure!
Really glad I decided to go with the TRD sport 4x4 lol

You're welcome. We all learn somethin from each other....
cheaper and actually cost less to fix because there's no disc caliper or brake pad.
