That's why I like it much more than Kurama/Naruto thing. Naruto was just the closest baby that his dad could seal a demon into (who was also the #1 ninja at making ninja seals...). It evaded the WG for that long and once Shanks stole it, it was immediately eaten by a silly boy who was just hangry lol. One Piece has cool mix of fate, gods/devils, and science-based "magic" that makes it fun to read.

I love how One Piece stands out in the entire shonen anime/manga community. One of the only transformations I know thus far where he transforms with laughter and joy and not malice or anger or the typical reasons of people awakening their powers. And the goofiness fits so well with Luffy’s character, his goals, is idea of freedom and so on. I already know One Piece is gonna go down in history as one of the best works of fiction in our time 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@sandyk9300 Gear 5 makes the other gears make sense. Like gear 3 made no sense you can't blow into 1 bone and transfer it to another but if that's the way Luffy imagined how bones connect it makes sense. Same with the other gears in there own way.

It explains a lot of Luffy's earlier gear transformations (other paramecia users don't have multiple forms with vastly different techniques and prep like Luffy's). It explains how Luffy can use Red Hawk and Red Roc, literal fire-attacks reminiscent of his brother. With his imagination powers, he literally willed the fire attacks out of thin air with his devil fruit because that's it's innate ability. Gear 5th simply let him do his imagination-based more freely and naturally.
I find it crazy that Sun God was foreshadowed since Skypiea. But my god is it worth it. This has to be the most unique transformation I've ever seen in anime. At first I teared up, then I laughed my ass off during the rest of the episode!

About the reincarnation stuff, no One piece never hand reincarnation, but some people thought it had because they confused it with the concept of "inherited will" which is the story is heavily leaning on. They are quite similar in they both continue what your past/predecessor is doing, like passing off the torch, difference is "inherited will" is more like a conscious choice and the other is like you were just born with it.
The forshadowning in one piece is crazy good. The side effect of the smile fruit and the name smile in general for them was telling us the secrets of how joy boy's personality was. Excpet luffy isn't being forced to be happy it's just how luffy is and it just increases his joy.
skypiea became the most important arc in the series. biggest foreshadowing of gear 5/joyboy/nika from the namedrops to the poneglyph to luffy’s shadow in the sky to the drums of liberation to ultimately the campfire celebration at the end. everything was there
If you remember Skypeia, they mentioned praying to the Sun God, Nika in Noland's flashback. And the citizens were praying for God to save them when Enel was about to destroy the island. So its like they were praying to Luffy to save them, as he did.
Since Luffy's fruit is actually a Zoan fruit, Gear 5 is sort of his beast form plus a paramecia like awakening. His rubbery body is enhanced to stretch out more, plus more malleable, and as you noticed the anything near him becomes rubber as well. Basically it's like his body and the world around became like that of a rubber hose cartoon. And if you know those kind of cartoons, Luffy just became OP as hell

It's not Orochi they were showing, it was Oden. Oden singing and laughing to protect everyone was extremely similar to Luffy and therefore Joyboy. Oden's will was passed on via his family, friends and retainers, and is one of the huge number of things that have built to Luffy awakening his devil fruit.
The cut over to Hiyori and Orochimaru pissed us manga readers off too. But it's worse here since they were trying to pad out the time so the episode more or less is just chapter 1044.

With the reveal of Luffy's Paramecia Gum-Gum Fruit the Gomu Gomu no Mi's real identity as the Zoan-Human Fruit the Hito Hito no Mi; Mythical Model: Nika, the series decided to make it easier that from Luffy's regular techniques to Gear 4th will officially still be classified as the Paramecia Gomu Gomu no Mi; but when Luffy activates his Awakening to Gear 5th Nika, that's when he's classified as a Mythical Zoan. And although I did think the new ending theme was ok, I am a bit sad that since One Piece will be bringing back ending theme songs to the anime, that means the episode-stories will be slightly short-ish now
Gear 4 with animal attribute looks like one of many imagination abilities based on rubber properties. Also, add ending song mean 1 chapter is adapted in 20 minutes, not 21 mintes and 30 seconds, a slightly bit better pacing
He turns what he can imagine into reality and he's fighting as what he fancies and in his own perspective it is funny that's why he is always laughing. Many quarantine fans hated or got disappointed in this episode it's because they wan't to only focus on Luffy's gear 5 and not those flashbacks and hiyori orochi confrontation but for me this gear 5 episode fulfilled what's meant to be "Putting smiles on peoples faces"

If you want some insight on why luffy gear 5 looks cartoonish. It was heavy inspired by one of Oda favorite cartoon shows Tom and Jerry. So WB animation help with the animation for Gear 5.
The best thing to compare it to is the Popeye cartoons where rubber hose physics was the base of all cartoons, people who could do and endure anything whilst manipulating the world around them. Its been right in front of of us this whole time but now we see what Oda really meant about awakening

So about the reincarnatin thing. Joy boy is more like a title and zunesha calls luffy joyboy because luffy managed to awaken the fruit for the first time in 800 years (before luffy it was propably the original joyboy)
You know I didn’t put it together until you said it, but Joyboy is said to bring smiles to all, and both kaido and luffy has done this. Kaido used smile fruits and Luffy just does Luffy things. 🤯🤯

Luffy isn’t a reincarnation of Joyboy. He’s just the first man to exist since him that the fruit trusts and sees fit to handle its creativity and want for freedom since Joyboy of 800 years ago. Luffy was chosen because of who he naturally is. Not because he was preordained
Yeah the more free Luffy becomes, the more joyous he is also. Since Gear 5 is absolute freedom over himself and his environment, he is in a state of bliss. Feel like it's similar to Gojo being high on his power after unlocking reverse curse.
I think, Oda pretty much make it clear (especially in this episode) by explaining that *Devil Fruit also have its own will* , especially Zoan type. (We got more information regarding Devil Fruit in the next arc, so stay tune to it). Also, *Joyboy* more like a title rather than a name. So there's no reincarnation IMHO. Its just the circumstances kinda similar. In Luffy case, he just a lonely boy who want a friend and be pirate king. So whoever he think *Friend* , he will help. I mean, simple *Bento* can make him help someone (later a whole kingdom). Simple treating with food, can make him fight his own nakama (zoro in whiskey peak). Yeah, Luffy sound stupid and simple, but his EQ pretty high. While helping people he's doing liberation to those people.
The thing is, alot of what the comments want to tell you are things that will never be revealed in the anime. Things from interviews and from the road to laugh tale booklet that came out a while ago. Alot of those things will probably not be explained in the anime.

Luffy can be the reincarnation of both Gol D Roger and Joy Boy. Roger said that he came to early, and he will not die. Maybe he never eat a devil fruit because he was waiting to his nika to comeback to him. His reincarnation as Luffy was the one from the profecy, so he came become Joyboy again.

You’ll want to rewatch him lifting the floor sir, he MJ moon walks to the ground xD The first time the showed any of this in the manga all I could think was “what a bold choice turning a semi gag manga full gag manga.” But Oda taking that leap was a big one.

So Oda tell us a false description of the Devil fruit of Luffy. It's not a Paramecia fruit but a Zoan Fruit , that's why the fruit has his own way to "live". It escaped since 800 years to the government. And apparently, the owner of this devil fruit is freedom of any "wall" in front of him for upgrading his power. As long as he as imagination, his devil fruit gonna give him what he want. Amazing. It's better than an awaken Devil Fruit. Joy Boy is the incarnation of a Loney Tunes ! Nika want to laught and make laught ! So all his technique gonna be funny.
Last thing I'ma say about this episode, I like how all the fodder was dropping from all the Conquerors Haki(Color of the Supreme King" but Nami, Chopper, and even Tama are strong willed enough to handle it

But this is appearing to me that it is just leaking off of him in his awakened gear 5 form. It didn't seem at all like he was targeting anyone in particular. I think, Oda pretty much make it clear (especially in this episode) by explaining that *Devil Fruit also have its own will* , especially Zoan type. (We got more information regarding Devil Fruit in the next arc, so stay tune to it).
Also, *Joyboy* more like a title rather than a name. So there's no reincarnation IMHO. Its just the circumstances kinda similar. In Luffy case, he just a lonely boy who want a friend and be pirate king. So whoever he think *Friend* , he will help. I mean, simple *Bento* can make him help someone (later a whole kingdom). Simple treating with food, can make him fight his own nakama (zoro in whiskey peak). Yeah, Luffy sound stupid and simple, but his EQ pretty high. While helping people he's doing liberation to those people.

Luffy can be the reincarnation of both Gol D Roger and Joy Boy. Roger said that he came to early, and he will not die. Maybe he never eat a devil fruit because he was waiting to his nika to comeback to him. His reincarnation as Luffy was the one from the profecy, so he came become Joyboy again.

So Oda tell us a false description of the Devil fruit of Luffy. It's not a Paramecia fruit but a Zoan Fruit , that's why the fruit has his own way to "live". It escaped since 800 years to the government. And apparently, the owner of this devil fruit is freedom of any "wall" in front of him for upgrading his power.
