The fact that Angelina naturally ad libs where she adds her musical ornaments, means she never sings a song exactly the same way twice. You never know exactly what she's going to do when she sings a song, except that it's going to sound good. Every performance of the same song is unique vocally. That's why she never gets boring, imo.
No, I think the gloves were just another element in the classiness of this video. Angelina can sing anything, and what we see here is her ability to give us old school jazz and make it completely current and accessible to every age group. Her ability to blend old styles of music with modern elements works so well.
The opening with just that stand-up bass is a tribute, I think, to Peggy Lee’s great single, “Fever”, from the 50’s. Angelina has listened to every great jazz singer, so that cool opening vibe must be an intentional nod to Peggy’s iconic song. Thanks Zack...the gloves are part of her overall Class...just who she is . If you were to look back at Jazz singers from 50- 60 years ago you would see that ....she is Class, eloquence and pure music...just who she is. She always sings with CLASS!! She is not mainstream music, with all the costumes, back up dancers, sexual outfits...she is an extraordinary vocalists with actual talent that will never ever need the distractions of most so called "stars' these days.... a refreshing change IMHO!! . Looking back, I feel this song was a preview of where her voice, artistry, and songwriting is now. Her voice depeened after this age, and yet it has plenty of depth, not to mention emotion. I always felt this was her pandemic song, the line about her dreams fading. She was supposed to do concerts and had just appeared on America's Got Talent when the pandemic shut everything down and she was at home, unable to perform in public for years. But now her dreams are materializing, and she's met Toby Gad and is working with him on new music. Timing is everything.
She learned to slide from note to note recording in a studio. She gets it and shows how pleased she is.
