I saw my first harvester about 25 years ago working in the wood next to the farm, felling large larch trees.
I can't remember the make of it, but it was a very impressive 6-wheel model that took about 1 minute to cut and process each tree and move on to the next tree.
The driver showed me how it all worked, and he was a bit of a comedian when I asked him about the 2 large metal boxes that were on site with him on the job. He said that 1 was his fuel tank, and the other one was his lunch box. It was actually his mobile workshop that had all the tools and spare hoses, chainsaw chains, and everything else he could've needed to do a repair job himself. At that time it cost a cool £250k to buy, and told me his boss had 3 of them in his fleet It could cut and process in a day what a squad of men with chainsaws would have taken a week to do. I wonder what they cost now to replace ?

Funny how things have different names depending on whereabouts in the country you are.
