Yes...the restored barque James Craig part of the Sydney Heritage Fleet, a volunteer organisation with a proud history of steam and sailing vessel restorations. The James Craig is one of only four 19th century barques still sailing today, world wide.
Its a big event every year for Sydney. Thousands of people are watching all from all around the harbour and on TV.I have been one year on Boxing day ,and the shores were packed with people. Its once a year and takes less than an hour to head out to sea. Then the yachts are on their own with one or two helicopters with cameras. The helicopters are from TV Stations. The fastest yachts get to Hobart in less than 1.5days 630nm.All good fun and spectacular. no need to be a party pooper. the harbour is full of stink boats 365 days per year.
Capitalists destroyed sailing, money corrupted the soul of sailors, designers... Keels that are raised on the windward side, enormous size of sails, side wings for lifting the sailboat out of the water, sails so big that masts, cables suffer to the limit... Materials lighter than a plastic cup... And all this for just one regatta, so much money spent that next year the constructors are releasing new models. I love sailing, I also sailed on a two-year-old America Cup sailboat, the sailboat is unusable for further regattas, the materials and the hull are worn out, it needs a lot of repairs, the new owner simply cut it up and took it to the plastic waste. Luckily he didn't pay much. All that money for just ONE regatta, disgusting... Better to give money to sick children, old people... Everything is good as long as we are healthy, when we are broken by illness then there are no rich sponsors, we are not followed by television, helicopters or this mass of dangubs staring at these unattainable space assholes. Greetings from Europe.
How much energy is spent.. incredible

Thanks for putting this up Philip. Well done keeping it as steady as you did!

Nice video Philip. Different perspective from commercial videos. Thanks for that.
thank you
what a spectacle! thanks for sharing
3:04 Wow, those are powerful boats, being a able to carry that much sail area for those wind conditions, and still not be too much heeled over.
Marvelous. Just bloody MARVELOUS !
My goodness... such huge sails for such small boats!
Ha ha Peter, nice to see you made it down to Hobart. My wife and I were there a few years ago, the wind blew every day.
Great footage well done ⛵💨
Thanks 👍
What speed are these boats doing?
如此讓人感動的畫面啊!

Мелкие судна мешают просмотреть.
Well, Philip, COMANCHE won again, and congratulations to them. I think it's time they (Australia) brings out their BIG gun, super maxi, CAVALRY! 😉
Comanche won line honours but they didn't win the race. Celestial won.
Чёрные паруса ещё не запретили?
멋지네요
Very nice video
Thanks
I can see a tragedy with all those boats &helicopters
The whole harbor is supposed to be marked off for where the racers, spectators, and helicopters can go with pretty strict rules for all.
My nephew Tom Kneen won his division on sunrise in this race, despite a broken boom and tiller.
This would never happen in the USA !

It's called sport. Heaven forbid you learn of Formula 1. 🤣
