Man, Yannis is getting a master class on drywall, plastering and masonry work. Pretty soon you guys won’t be able to afford his trade skills! So glad Simon and Billy are willing to put their time and money into teaching and not just focus on completing the project on time on budget.
Billy, I’m an archaeologist. Those beads are from the early 17 century and were most likely produced for the North America trade. These are small glass rods - blown like straws - with a hollow centre. Then they are cut into beads. Any archeologist in your area should be able to use those beads as an effective dating tool. Beads are very specific to manufacturers and time period. Wh
Simon is as AH-MAZING teacher. I'm even learning just by watching him. As much as I enjoy watching the progress on the convent, I'm looking forward to seeing how Simon's house comes along as well.
I know that Simon has already said that he is too busy and doesn't want to have his own You Tube channel, but he is such a natural in front of the camera and such a good teacher.
What beautiful work Simon does! The stonework and the ceiling look wonderful! Well done, Yanis too, he’s fortunate to have such a mentor for this trade.
I’m not surprised about the finds considering how old the Covent is. Simon is a gem himself isn’t he! Simon and Yanis together a formidable team. Phil arriving and supplying things for the party, you have a group of great mates Billy.
Billy, all; The combination of Billy and Simon makes for a great Channel. Please consider keeping it going. Very confidence inspiring together. And their discussions are interesting. I do love ALL the characters involved.
I’ve imagined you converting the basement into a wine cellar shop. Perfect location. Guests who may not have the time or interest to travel to wine regions can buy a few bottles from your cellar. And of course a winery providing a special convent blend. The drawings you are printing would make beautiful labels and tell the history of the region and chateaus across France.
Simon is such a personable individual & a great addition to the Pethericks “family”. He just loves history & is so patient with teaching Yannis. Hope to see more of “The Pethericks “ and Simon going forward.
As a woman, I've always preferred hanging out with the men while they/we worked to fixed stuff. It's always been way more fun to me. Now that I'm old, I can still do it, thanks to you guys!
Simon has this quiet confidence that comes from years of experience. He's terrific in front of the camera. I know he has no interest in vloging so I hope you feature him as much as possible on future episodes at the Convent and in his own renovation project at his farm.
Beer o’clock is a classic! Thanks Simon for all the knowledge you’re providing to Yannis and the rest of us. Have a great weekend and see you on Monday
The beads are beautiful. Sometimes you see them on graveyards. People make beautiful ornaments with these tiny beads. Like flowers and leaves. Brigitte from the Netherlands 🌷
The stone work is exquisite. Perfect job. He even managed to make the pointing very close in style to the original artisan. I am impressed with Simon. 🧡
How I look forward to your videos, you are a great boss, and wonderful friend to so many. Have a great weekend with Gwen and all of your family and friends,
Billy,Simon,Yanis, and Alex my convent angels. Today’s video is a very busy one. So much to do. I’m glad to see the progress. Well until tomorrow. Take care and stay safe my convent angels. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸🕊👍🙏😇🌞🌈🌹❤️
Always love a cameo visit from Phil. Simon is an awesome craftsman & teacher AND he seems to be a natural on RUclips - You better watch your channel Billy. 😄 Yanis is the textbook definition of apprentice. It's so cool to see him REALLY hungry to learn and to get in there and put in the time. Also - don't think we didn't spot Ryan in the background.....Great Progress, great finds.
Oh my what a beautiful spectacular floor repair Simon you are an amazing craftsman and teacher to Yannis. Your the golden team at the Chateau 👏👏👏. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the Simons farmhouse as well. Have a well deserved fun weekend all 👏👏👏♥️🇨🇦
Great montages Alex. I love your dog trying to help Simon. Helper dogs are an important part of life. Nicely done Billy with the step with the help of Simon. Yannis thought ahead and had all of the tools you would need by the looks if it. Good one Yannis. The floor looked beautiful Simon. Great job. I was worried that you were going to hurt your little digger Billy. Thankfully not. Phil was generous in getting the supplies for the party. Billy, Gwendolyn is the love of your life so stop pretending otherwise. 🤭 Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Billy, it's too bad Brico doesn't deliver. Or, at least let you order on line to pick up. They must love to see you coming. Love that Simon likes Time Team. It's a fav and am so glad it's back. Hope the weekend clears up for Gwen's party.
First of all, I’d like to address the beads that Simon found. Those look very very old. They are called seed beads and they are hand blown glass probably from Venice or Japan. really an incredible find and you were right the wire is probably silver. Next the steps going down to the basement look absolutely spectacular. Nice job, Simon and Yannis. Great to see Phil again. He pops up at the best times. Love this one as well, Billy Thank you. 💜😎🤗🫶🇺🇸
I really love the opening shots at the beginning of every video. The convent is such an extraordinary building, I'm so glad you are restoring it, and saving an important piece of history. Well done Billy.
Yannis seems to be there with the right tools to help everyone, and he is so good at doing all the jobs needed, including tidying up by sweeping, and scrubbing that threshold so that we can see the lovely worn stem there. Simon is a true master builder, as everything he does, he does to his best ability, and the work is stunning. xxx
Such a happening and enjoyable long video! Simon’s skills are incredible. The stones that he has restored in position look as if they were originally there all the time. And welcome back Alex and Layla!🎉
What a beautiful job Simon did on the entrance to the cellar. I find him utterly fascinating: his voice is soothing & loved the finds from the garden. Great video today.
Thank you all for another week of great videos! I really enjoy all of Alex’s “Convent exploration” footage at the beginning of the videos; always love me a bit of b-roll! Simon’s workmanship with the stonework is just outstanding. In addition to being a skilled tradesman, he also has the gift of being a good speaker and teacher; a real asset to the Crack On Team.
The photography is just amazing. That young man is going places with his eye for interesting and detail in this photography. Love this renovation, both the Convent and the Chateau. You are all just amazing, so fun to watch!
You really hit gold when yougot Simon involved with the renovations i do think everyone who is and has helped are amazing but to watch Simon is so calming x well done to you and all i wish you all the luck in the world x
Billy you are joking, Gwen would never sell the convent, she love you too much, and because it is just a good investment for the future..and the things you did already at the chateau, really, you got my deepest respect, so much work, with a great results and I hope you will be able in the future to repair the chateau kitchen.. maybe the next step, after finishing the convent….and that floor Simon create masterpiece .
I haven't driven a Ford in 35 years and there you are in France driving a US car. As you were driving to Brico I was thinking, "Why doesn't he buy it by the square yard (or meter) and get a truckload. I am in awe of the scope of this restoration work and your persistence. I would have put up drywall in the kitchen and be done with it. Every episode I've learned something useful. With all the craziness in the world you guys give me hope for humanity!
I’m so fascinated with all this & how you know to look for the old stone door step. Great finds in the garden too. You guys really are ‘cracking on’ & I’m loving every minute ❤
If someone had told me 5 years ago I would be quite simply mesmerized by a guy tearing up a door opening in France I would have laughed at them. Yet here I am, looking forward to the daily RUclips activity and glued to my laptop screen!!!
Simon is brilliant. The way he talks and explains things is fantastic. Billy, between you, Ryan, Phil and now Simon, you have an excellent gang for your own boys adventures.
Billy... With these 25 - 30 minute videos, you are spoiling us!! ❤ Also... when it comes to the "epic" part of the intro music... could you turn the volume down just a wee bit, thank you!!

He definitely deserves a raise! But also the education and skills he is gaining are very valuable for his future career. A win win situation

⭐️⭐️Today, they are called “seed beads”. By looking at at them I’d say 10/0 size
😅
The nuns would be proud of you and your work. You are honouring the convent. 🇫🇷
Alex’s sweet dog wants more than a cameo role. 😁. Simon and Yannis did an excellent job finishing off the stairway. It looks beautiful!
❤😅😂😂
Simon is so relaxed and natural in front of the camera!
I was about to say the same thing. He is very good at looking at the camera and storytelling
Why does he want this out again?
I agree. I think this every time he explains his work.
Yes, he is! And when you know the craft as he does it becomes second nature to describe and teach.
Love and Light to All ❤ ✨️
He really is. I loved listening to him explain stuff.
I love Simon ❤ he so good at what he does and has such a kind demeanor. Can’t wait to see how his renovation turns out.
I am hoping that we get to see his renovation because he seems like such a nice guy.
@@bjbrown me too!!! It’s gonna be nice for sure. I wish he’d make a channel but as he said there will be videos on Billy’s channel.
I appreciate the attention to the slope of the door etal. Attention to detail is something you cannot teach.

The opens feel more like watching a movie 😃😊👍Well done! Alex
Simon's work is impressive. Yanis doing great work as well. Good job, Billy. Happy weekend guys. 😎
The ceiling is beautiful, the stone work looks original. Everything is looking wonderful!
Phil has an uncanny knack of arriving just at the 'right' time 😫😂
We had a guy in our group that we call blister. shows up after the work was done.
Poor Phil.

Every job site needs a Yannis!! He is incredible ❤❤❤ Simon is a master craftsmen. Very cool findings in the garden
Yanis is so hardworking!
It’s crazy how much of the work is actually demolishing previous additions. What’s underneath is usually good already.
Poor Phil, he can't seem to come to visit without Billy putting him to work!!😂
😂
The original stone looks so much better,
Billy, you are a blessed man with good people working for you & with you.
Yes 🎉
I truly appreciate that Simon is taking time to teach Yannis who is eager to learn and who works very hard,
Yes, he’s a natural TV presenter 👍 He has a lovely authentic way about him ❤
Simon is an amazing craftsman and so kind!

You've got a great eye Billie. All the renovations are so thoughtfully put together. Done with a great deal of integrity. Well done.
That flooring Simon and Yanis have done looks brilliant. What a team! 😍
Billy, I love your ingenuity! Moving the slab was brilliant. You never cease to amaze me and props to your crew. You have been doing a fantastic job.

Simon & Janus awesome addition to the channel!
I’m getting quite used to our little trips out to Brico together 😂. Lovely countryside
Love going for a drive in the truck with Billy and co. Gets me out of the house.😄

One weekend in France, we were having a drive through some beautiful villages and we stopped at the red lion for a beer! Lovely pub in France.
🎉 Happy Friday!
The basement entry looks great. I loved Simon's finds from the garden. His idea of a special video featuring garden finds would be fantastic.
This channel just gets better & better. Bravo to all of you!!
The little white beads might have been a miniature rosary. My grandma gave me a turquoise miniature one with small beads like yours.
Introduction sound is so loud it overpowers the beautiful images. Love the channel.
