I noticed a lot of you guys mentioning that the original Megalovania was already done in the Earthbound soundfont (see the Earthbound Halloween Hack). However, Toby Fox has made changes to the track over the years and this rendition is based on the Undertale version. I'll be listing a few timestamps. They're not for this video, but instead for the Earthbound Halloween Hack version and the Undertale version (I'll specify which one each time I bring up a time stamp.) I used these videos as reference, but I'm fairly sure they're applicable to just the regular song files from in-game. Earthbound Halloween Hack: ruclips.net/video/iIowwZThIXM/видео.html Undertale version: ruclips.net/video/wDgQdr8ZkTw/видео.html - Halloween Hack is in A minor, while Undertale is in D minor - Halloween Hack is at 117 BPM while Undertale is at 120 BPM (small difference, but just enough to be noticable) - There's a low hum with the Earthbound overdrive guitar, followed by four hits of the hi-hat in the first 13 seconds of the Halloween Hack version that isn't present in the Undertale version - The 10-note phrase you hear at the start of Megalovania is present throughout the entirety of the Halloween Hack version while the Undertale version excludes it from certain parts of the song (0:32-0:40, 0:48-1:36, 1:52-2:20 of the Undertale version) - Drum beats are different between versions. Halloween Hack has a consistent drum beat throughout the entirety of the song that lacks snares (including the bit between 1:27-1:43 of the Halloween Hack), while Undertale has a consistent snare throughout the entirety of the song, along with changing up the drum beat at the 1:20 mark and back again at the 1:52 mark in the Undertale version. - There are other instrumental changes, such as between 0:38-0:54 and 0:54-1:10 of the Halloween Hack. this is the undertale Composition in the Earthbound soundfont. the Halloween hack Original was composed Differently. being less rocky and more ambient you could say that MIDI files are just Digitized Compositions, i dare someone to look at the original and the undertale version, composition paper or MIDI, I bet 1,000 bucks there's going to be some differences i'm that confident of the likely fact. This is pretty nice, I really like some of the portamento on the overdriven guitar. If you want to go the next level with the EarthBound soundfont, I'd recommend checking out EBMusEd; it's a lot more difficult (you have to type hexadecimal values to make the song) and limits how many instruments/tracks you can use, but it legitimately edits the music in the ROM; you can play it back on emulator! vince94 also did an awesome Megalovania rendition in EBMusEd (and a rip of it on Siiva; EBHH's OST Version), you should check that out!
