It's horrendous. Once when a horse actually was a danger as he was on the sidewalk a man with a baby carriage was dangerously close and didn't move away

It's a good thing that these horses are usually tolerant of children and don't see them as a threat. Lots of horses like children but I wouldn't offer up one of my children to an unknown horse. The daft thing to me is visitors often place their children between themselves and the horses.
My favourite part is when some of them look shocked at the guard as though expecting an apology and he gives them nothing. YOU are the one who crossed the line.
In the mid eighties, we had a day trip from school to our local police station. It was pretty exciting for a group of 12 year olds to see behind the scenes. When we got to the horses, one of the boys in my class kept pulling faces at this horse and I kid you not, the horse lunged forward and bit him on the arm hard enough to leave marks. 😂
I love the way he nudges some people out of his space I don't think he likes certain colours or perfumes and smells of coats etc put up with a lot over their shift.
I absolutely love the way they are so gentle with the children and give a quick nip to the adults who don't move away. The horses appear to say if you don,t get it the first time I will try again
Horse gives a rather painful bite to a CHILD at the end. This horse should not be accessible to the general public and is a liability. It's also a shit trained horse that's getting worse with time. Eventually the guards themselves won't be able to use the horse. This entire situation is really preventable and one day, that horse will likely bite off some small child's fingers.
@@Amanda-pb9ryro you sound fucking dumb. Those are some of the best trained horses, they are no liability at all. These tourists have absolutely no sense of respect or personal space. They are the problem. They ignore the sign saying the horse may bite, and keep touching the horse after it bites other people. The horse is doing a good job, I'd like it to bite harder
Horses are not intelligent lol... compared to what... They get frightened when you plant a hedge in their pens. They are a somewhat stupid, dangerous, amazing animal.
@@cptmuska horses are really one of the most intelligent animals. When I was at University of California at Davis which is a renowned school about animal health and behavior, tests showed they had the mental capacity of a three year old human. But comparing one animal to another and making a ranking is difficult as each animal is good at different things.
So interesting. That horse really reacts to certain peoples' energy it doesn't want around. It can even be fine with the person on one side, and not at all fine with the person on the other side. And then there are the people who get upset that a curious horse they are standing on top of slobbers on their coat. I guess any one cross section of humans, especially in a city, have little to no clue what makes animals tick. (Or even little to no clue that animals are living creatures, not Disneyland robots).
Yes. Horses are prey animals so they have evolved to judge situations very fast. They can tell if someone is comfortable around them. Horse people would probably be welcome.
Something that irritates the hell out of me and probably the horses, too, is how many people offer them an empty palm. How many times in an hour must those poor darlings assume they're being offered a treat only to be disappointed. I would bite too .... a little light relief for the horse and the King's Guard!
When the horse is butting you with his head, he's telling you you're too close. And when he nibbles your fingers, he's not kissing you, he's checking your hand to see if you have a treat for him(which is a good way to get bit). Read the sign next to the guard.
Love this horse, when the first woman grabbed the reins the guard didn't shout at her but the horse was having none of it and had a go at her every time she came back.
I love this horse!!! He has the gift of discernment. He is like Gandalf - "You shall not pass!". I liked the one little girl so excited for the horse that even when it muzzled her, she didn't even look at her coat just grinning ear to ear and the horse is like "Yup". Then another little girl, her sibling gets the horse "yup" but she gets the "You shall not pass!" and she is worried about the mark he might have left on her coat sleeve. Fashion queens and princesses need not apply. Horse knows the kindred spirits in the crowd. 😂
Which Horse? Watch the video again properly. you will notice that the warning notice is sometimes on the Left and other times on the Right. The video is a compilation of clips from at least two different positions, of different Guards and of different Horses.
Horses can be kind, friendlyand even stay from me now, and still like you at a distance. It still means they like you. Their kindness is within their own terms. Bless them.
He's having a little fun with the tourists, which helps to alleviate his boring time of having to stand still. For he has discovered that people are going to react differently to a potential or actual little nip.
they are so intelligent, most of the nipping and head tossing is probably a game to them, they know how far they can go without hurting people. i mean, they see more people trying to touch them and in their space daily than a 7-11 cashier on a 12 hour shift... they are looking for ways to entertain themselves as much as we are i bet lol. i love these clips.
I love how some tourists obviously have been around horses before, so they don't mind when it puts its head close to theirs. Others freak out at the slightest unexpected movement from the horse. And that in turn spooks the horse too, I assume.
Good horse!!! One of the rules is that you have to ask permission of the rider to touch his horse but they have been so lax on that rule. the horse got tired of being pawed at all the time. the sign does say they may bite or kick. when we had a chance to see these guys, I asked the rider if i had his permission to touch the horse at the shoulder. He said yes and thanked me for being polite.
🤣 I absolutely love all horses, but let me just say.....Arnie is magnificient! Am sure he is the king of the stables.😆. Love his attitude and sense of justice!😂💙

Most of these horses are merely expressing interest and playful curiosity. They learn about their world with their muzzles and mouths. They are probably bored and tourist clothing looks like a good toy. Also, bridles are itchy. Some of these horses would really just like to rub their faces on the tourists. 😄
when I was visiting England, I treated those horses how they should be treated, as on-duty soldier! They won't bite you unless you cross their boundaries. if you are not being handy with soldiers and queen's guards, then you can't be handy with those horses as well!
The horse is just amusing itself. Picks targets carefully - especially the puffy jackets when teeth are deployed. It is quite happy with the reaction it gets from nuzzling and lipping the younger public.
