A world class poacher with world class hold up play. After his time at Chelsea he became one of my favourite players ever, him and Hazard were a thing of beauty. So glad he gets the respect these days.
He's a pure targetman in my opinion. That's a rare profile these day yet one that make his team shine so bright. Hence why players like Mbappe, Griezmann and especially Pogba shine so much. They have that reliable big guy in the middle that receive, hold and feed.

He's not a prolific goal scorer and can't compete statistically with the likes of Immobile for example but when it comes to athletically dominating the air, he'll make any CB suffer and deflect balls towards his teammates. He's a hardworking and metally strong team player... If his positional understanding was so great, he'd be scoring regularly more than 20 goals a year: He's no pippo inzaghi but Giroud is often underrated because as a target man he brings more to the tables than goals and usually the layman only assesses a striker's level by counting the number of goals he scores...
I reckon all professional footballers had that one player they hated to play against. But as far as forwards go, Henry was probably the most feared when he was at his peak.

What makes Giroud different from most World Class strikers is his weird ability for scoring decisive goals CONSISTENTLY whereby a World Class striker will score consistently in various matches but doesn't score when it really matters (typically last min goals). Chicharito and Miroslav Klose are also similar to Giroud. If you look at all the matches these guys score in its either the winning goal, last minute goal or a crappy goal that someone score.
Giroud is awesome and so was Saha and coming from Van Dijk and Neville who too is awesome, these guys really deserve a lot of respect. They tend to find a way, even when most can not see a way. Amazing!
