Jess, I have my mini twists in for 6 days now and they're still perfect.
I don't do too many styles to it. I let it be without a pony tail. And in day five I wet it fully in the shower and they bounced back to life. I then re moisturise it and let it air dry. The secret is to not over manipulate it.

I found that when doing mini twist the easiest way to do them is to rope twist the hair. Basically twist the strands the opposite way them twist them together. I've been doing it this way for a month now. I can definitely say detangling the twist after take down is much easier. I can wet my hair with the twist in and it doesn't get fuzzy.

    • @sassys1240
      @sassys1240 2 года назад +6

This is so true. Rope twists last so much longer. My sister is a super lazy natural. The last time I put twists in her hair she had them in for about a month or more. She didn't expect to her them that long, but the rope twists just lasted. Now I've taught her. Lol

I have mini twists too. I sleep with a satin scarf while my twist are flat on my head and tie it tight. Then out a bonnet on top. Works like a charm and twists last weeks. The key is to sleep with your twists flat in your head and not in an updo. Then you can put it back up the next day.

shaq b you have to stretch them around your head with bobby pins. kind of like wrapping them but in the direction of how you want them to lay. in the morning when you take them down, they’ll be neat, less frizzy, and you’ll have a little extra hang time.

I definitely think it varies with hair texture. My twists last well over a month but my hair is coarse/nappy whatever you want to call it. I literally think with water and grease or Vaseline I’d be good. I can sleep without a bonnet or scarf at night...I’m still good. They won’t come undone and it’s probably because of my texture-I’m guessing. My hair is always in two strand twists or mini twists....I don’t wear twist outs. It’s the only style I know how to do.

so i dont know how you feel about using beeswax. ECO has a great one with black castor oil and flaxseed oil, i use it on my daughter and i hair when i do twist and it helps them stay twisted for weeks. my daughter be wilding with her hair doing flips and rolling in the DIRT and they stay twisted. i make sure to put it only on her hair and only oil her scalp every two weeks we only use sulfate shampoo so i dont have to worry about build up and any problems. just a suggestion. Girl I don't know what you're doing that your twists look like that!! I twist my hair every 2 weeks. 30-40 twists on my head. I use the lco method to twist my hair and keep it in a bun like all the time. I don't put the bun all the way down cus it's bad for my edges. I try to oil my hair every day or every 2 days, plus my edges. And once a week has passed remoisturize my hair by putting leave in, cream and oil in that order. Just over my twists, I don't redo it unless the ends are a bit open, but I just redo that part and not the whole twists. I also heavily focus on my ends and work my way up. And when I put my hair in a bun I make sure to tuck my ends in. When I go to sleep I use a satin wrap or scarf and cover that with my bonnet! And then when 2 weeks are up I gently twist my ends in the other direction to unravel it with some oil on my fingers!!! Hopes this helps, it's a bit long tho😶

Chunky wearable twists are the way the go. Braid at the root. They last a week and I can take it down in about 30 min to be a twistout. Only takes about an hour compared to 4 hours+ for mini twists. And I don't feel bad and exhausted to retwist them again on wash day.

I never knew this happened to other people's mini twists lol Mine always last for weeks, even up to a month, without a problem. But I do make mine a little thicker than yours in this vid, maybe that makes a difference.

My hair does that too. The best thing that helped me was using rubber bands kinda like a bunch of mini ponytails. It seems like a lot but my roots stay laid down and it helps me

Great. I got my lazy self to do some mini twists not too long ago. I usually keep my twists in for a week, because how they will look.
A tip: I started doing the banding method with elastic hair ties on my twists to keep it stretch and also maintain the shape. I part my twists either in three (two in front and one in the back) or in four (two in front and two in the back). This prevents unnecessary shrinkage and the shape of the twists return in minutes after release.

I've followed a few ladies with 4C hair, and I feel your hair is the closest to my hair texture and length. I have totally felt your pain especially when you had to cut your hair because I recently had to cut a lot off, but it was needed. From all of the other girls I've followed, I feel that the information and tips that you suggest are a true life saver and works for my hair the best.
I did the mini twists, and I definitely had to refresh them within in the week. Within a few days, my hair looked like I had not done my hair at, lol. So I definitely understand where you're coming from. But they're a great protective style and I will continue to do them.
P.s. I braid it a little bit at the roots then twist which I felt made them last a little longer.

We have basically the same length and type hair. I don’t even make parts lol. I just section my hair in 4 and use my fingers to break small pieces to do the twists. I don’t use anything that will make my hair revert but unlike what you did I add a dabble of product on each piece as I’m about to twist it. I spray a mixture of leave-in, water and my concoction of oils on it every day to refresh them and oil my edges and nape. I oil my scalp every other day. They last me two weeks. Then I rinse and repeat lol. It does take a long time to do but it’s worth it cause you don’t have to do anything but refresh, shake and go. Hope that helped lol

My twists never come out. Maybe it’s cuz my hair is a tighter texture but mine like NEVER come out. All I do is twist it tightly and I either coil the ends with some gel or roll it between my thumb and index finger (think like the symbol for money 🤏🏾👌🏾) and it stays in. Maybe you were doing to much styles with them. I usually am able to make them last 3 weeks maybe 4 if I’m really pushing it. Around two weeks is when they start to get a lil frizzy.

Mini twist are very cute but unfortunately for me they don’t last longer than a week either. 😂 I prefer mini braids because they show my true length and they last longer. Plus, I can braid faster than can twist 💁🏾‍♀️

I’ve noticed if I leave my mini twist in a high bun for a long time it gets messy quickkkkk or if I wash it, it frizzes up at the roots.
What I do to preserve is braid them down during sleep time.
I always tell myself I’m never doing them whilst taking them down then a few months later I’m back again twisting smh

Mini braids last longer than mini twist. Mini braids last a month, mini twist needs touch up weekly or serious manipulation to avoid matting. If you have a boar brush, once done moisturizing, brush your twist or braid gently via sections and wrap your hair for about 30 mins. It will look a lot neater. Those were some tricks we did back in the day to maintain school hairstyle for 2 weeks lol.

I thnk that why they came apart. No moisturizing thru the days it look dry where they came apart@ im on week 3 tryna wait til the 3rd of June b4 i take thm out. Ben wearing my hair lik that for on &off 2years and it helped it grow alot. &i noticed my hair will grab whtevr (hair nets, inside of hoodie hoods among othr things) as if it has lil hands(😂) when its dry ! Thnx for reading

You have to find a good moisturizing product to twist with, wear a bonnet at night, and don't do anything else to them! Mine last a month. If you spray with water or add any products they will frizz up. I had to learn for myself..
I use Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie to twist with

I slick my roots down with edge control (Arcani Coil Care) put a rubber band on my roots and sleep with a satin bonnet every night and I just shake them out everyday and they’re good you should try that. I can send you a picture of how they look if you want.

Are you “rolling” the twist before you cross the two sections? If you twist each strand before cross then over it might help them lay longer. Like the motion is basically a snap but with your thumb and index finger.

Try using a satin durag instead of satin cap because the cap still allows the hair to move around and rub together that causes unraveling and frizz but a durag kind of sucks everything together holding it in place... and we have similar hair characteristics so I definitely feel and lived all your struggles 😁
