Hi Pete, great video, and love the colour of the paint, looks like a metallic version of China blue 😁 gun looks like it sprayed really nice, I didn’t notice much over spray myself I thought it looked minimal with my untrained eye. Cheers Pete.
Hi Steve, yes, very similar, it's off the BMW Minis, maybe a thought for the Cavalier when your feeling adventurous 😬, the gun is very good, and they are, in the scheme of things, not that expensive, I got them as a set with the Kombat on black Friday, the overspray, as you say, was very well controlled, by contrast, today I've been using the DV1 Clear gun which makes loads of it, really noticeable, thanks mate 👍
Hey Pete, interesting video as you have confirmed what I always thought that the Slim Xlite is the same as the Slim Kombat, when I won my Walcom I had the choice between the Kombat or the Xlite but I went for the Kombat as it was a limited edition gun, it's a great gun but does feel a bit plasticky in the hand as it has the Kevlar body which to me feels a bit cheap. The Xlite laid the base and clear very well mate, the finish on the clearcoat is spot on and as you say it's a good gun for the home user. My Sata has arrived and I see what you mean about it feeling a bit agricultural I think you could use it to knock nails in then use it for clearcoat and it will still be going strong, going to give it a clean in thinners and give it a try in the morning 🙏👍
Hi John, I totally get what your saying re the Kombat feeling plasticky, it does feel like that, one of the drawbacks of a none metal body and the lack of weight also adds to that feeling. Hope you like the Sata, be interesting to see what you think 👍
Yeah while it sprays really well it just doesn't feel like a quality gun but I know it is it is, should have got the Xlite but never mind I'm sure the Sata will more than make up for it, cheers mate 🙏👍
Hello Pete hope you are good mate, looks like it did a really nice job of laying the base and the clear. I’m not that familiar with the Walcom range but they definitely look like they do a great job
Hi Roger, all good her mate, hope it's the same for you, yes, a really good gun, sold as a midi but very much full size, really nice to use and not that expensive considering you get the gun, case, pot and a full spares kit all in 👍
Hi mate, I get them from different suppliers, often on Ebay, sometimes used but good condition, the Walcom slim Xlite i got from Walcom UK as they had a deal on for black Friday
hello pete how are you, is there a difference in the finish between the xlight and the kombat? do they work exactly the same? or the kombat is better? greetings from Argentina...
Hi German, yes, they spray the same, they do have different cup fittings, the caps aren't interchangeable because the thread is slightly different but the center part is the same, so is the tip, so , yes, they spray the same 👍
those of the threads knew it because I saw it in your video of the unboxing of both guns, my doubt was in the spraying, thank you for the answer Thank you very much and greetings attentive to your videos from Argentina 👋👋👋
Hey Pete 👋, another great video 👍 I was actually just looking at this gun online with the 1.7 setup. My compressor produces 7.3 CFM (206 l/pm). 5.4 CFM (153 l/pm) Free Air delivery. I would be spraying kitchen cabinet doors which as you know are fairly small. Not so much constant spraying, plenty of breaks here and there. Do you reckon the compressor would keep up?
Hi buddy, what size is the holding tank?, the compressor wouldn't keep up as these use around 260lm but if the holding tank is a reasonable size it would help
Hi buddy, you would probably get around 25 to 30 seconds of spraying from your 50lt tank before it would kick in from being fully charged, then you compressor wouldn't keep up with the gun so you would get probably 20 or 30 seconds more before the pressure would be too low to carry on , would this be enough for what your doing, only you can will know
@@peteshobbies5383 That doesn't sound too good Pete 😒 I can't really increase the compressor size as I need it to be mobile and don't want anything too big. Looks like I will have to find a more suitable gun, maybe the LPH 300 which seems to use a lot less air.
The LPH300 uses around 230lm of air, so just a bit less than the Walcom, so i still think you will struggle, I would think you would get one door done, then wait a minute or so, then another and so on, depends if that would work for you
Thanks Andrew, it's certainly in the same league as the Kiwami4 but given the choice i would go Kiwami4, if people's budgets are limited this is a great buy as it's cheaper and comes with the cup, gauge, case and full spares kit 👍
Hi James, it's a very good gun for the money, it doesn't put out as much material as the Kiwami4 for the same tip size but it has a smaller cap and head so you expect that, it can produce good results so isn't left behind
Hi Joe, for clear, I normally use full fan and full fluid at 2 bar. For base, it depends on colour, substrate, and temperature, but if you start on full fan, half fluid at 1.8 bar, you can go from there, that with the HTE cap
Thanks Pete I watched a video on how to set wide open on this gun bit different from traditional guns can u confirm that, I’ve Always pulled trigger and turn fluid in till it stops
Hi Joe, this is no different. Full fluid is simply the most you can pull the trigger back without the fluid needle adjuster stopping it, I always wind it all the way in, no finger needed on the trigger but you can if you want, then back it off, so if I say 2 turns out, it's 2 turns out from fluid fully in, some do it the other way, which works ok as well. So they hold the trigger and adjust the fluid completely out until it just starts to move the needle in, then they go in 2 turns, so there 2 turn setting will be different from mine, if the needle has more or less than 4 full turns whilst moving the trigger. There's no right or wrong way. It's just what works for you. Certainly, this gun is no different from any other
Thanks Cristian, yes, i heat the mixed clear up to around 30c in a microwave, i do the same with base and primer as well, really helps, It's not recommended as you shouldn't do it for obvious reasons but I haven't had any problems, I go 10sec per 100ml, i did a video on the difference warming the clear makes, I'll put the link below but it really helps it flow and means you don't need to add thinners 👍 ruclips.net/video/VRCGv6Rxw1Q/видео.html
hello Pete hope you are fine, for you what is the best? the ANI f160 1.3 or this one? I´m painting some cars at home (like 2 or 3 cars a year) with two 100 liters compressors. cheers mate
@@peteshobbies5383 thanks Pete, I was undecided between the two because of the size of the fan. But now I am more determined and from what I've seen in several places the ANI usually has some that fail and were i live the walcom is a little cheaper.. I have a very old second hand SATA jet 2000D but it has several leaks and doesn't work well with my compressor..
That a difficult one, the ANI is cheaper and more of a full size gun than this, it's a little more of everything, both spray really well so nothing between them performance wise except, as i say, the ANI is a bit more, so bigger fan, more material for the same tip etc
congratulations mr. hobbies nice work and teaching!
Thanks mate 👍
Hi Pete that lays base and clear really well good fan pattern good atomization nice uniformed finish 👍👍👍
Hi Dean, yes, really nice, the the same as the Slim Kombat HTE but cheaper which can't be bad, a great value gun for sure, cheers buddy 👍

In Brazil Xlite sells very well. Here Kombat costs about 50% more than Xlite.
Hi buddy, that's a huge difference in price considering the Xlite is just as good, do you have one?
