Great video, Sheila! I'm an accidental snail rancher, so I have hundreds (?) of mystery snails! I provide 2-3 cuttlebones for them to graze on, and I alternate foods including: Repashy+calcium (Soilent Green or Community Plus), algae wafers (Omega One), tropical flakes or goldfish flakes (these are the most fun to watch them eat), I also have some pellet foods that I will add in sometimes. Oh! And Sera Onip tablets which I actually crush up and sprinkle on the water surface - the effect is similar to the flake food: lots of snails doing the back float! Your pinks and purples are fitting right in with the rest of my crew! In the summer I blanch some zucchini and yellow squash, which they go crazy for!
I cut summer squash in half and my snails eat it in about 3 days. I almost enjoy watching my snail tank more than my fish tanks. They are so interesting. lol
I recently bought a couple mystery snails last week at my local Pet Smart. They do well in my goldfish tank, and I have specific plants that will not be eaten by goldfish. My java fern plant was never been nipped by my goldfish and my snails.

How often do you remove snail poop on your tank? Coz i know they poop a lot. Now I’m starting changing minds and getting my snails out of my 5 gallon tank. I have about 6 adults and 6 baby ramshorns and this morning I just saw new eggs. My guppy will arrive this week and I might put him in there with the snails but I’m also thinking about taking the snails out and put them on the breeding tank for my guppy. I’m scared of the poops causing bacterial problems on my guppy’s fins unless I do siphon them out every now and then which could also stress the fish.
I feed my snails beta and triops food they go insane for it. Algae tablets are nice but have not much nutrients. I will have to try green beens, thanks!
I have a question and I think Lifewithpets can help me. ok, so I have a divided planted tank with two male betta fishes. And they have been trying to see each other through the little holes in the divider. and for some reason, they both created a bubble nest. I need some professional help and advice. should I add a female to one side of the tank or what.

I have mystery snails and Japanese trapdoor snails. Been feeding the thera A+ pellets and super gold repashy, but I like the idea of mixing in vegetables and blood worms into the mix. Could do that for my goldfish too! Great video!

Thanks for the recipe! Repashy food was recommended to me since I had 3 fish chowing down on wafers that apparently expanded in their tummies pressing on their swim bladders, causing them to swim vertically. Epsom salt and blanched peas solved the problem but apparently Repashy is water soluble and won’t expand. I’m quite anxious to try it. Now I have another reason to use it!!

Once the snello sets up, take a very small piece, like the size of your pinky nail and drop it in the tank, The snail will find it quickly, if it’s eaten really quickly you can add a bit more till you know how much it will consume.. it’s good in the fridge for two weeks, and freezes well for up to six months. That amount she made if your feeding only ONE snail, would last you months. My snails get it about once a week. They love green beans

I want to try this, I have all the stuff from your store except the Repashy. But how do you feed it? Do you just put a teaspoon in the tank? Does it break up quickly and cloud the water, or stay in a clump? Do you need to refrigerate before you feed it?
Just drop it in the tank. If you've made it a loose consistency it will cloud the water a little but it soon clears, I make it quite firm and solid so it doesn't do that. The calcium releasing into the water though is a good thing too.

Made my first attempt to make this today, I didnt have frozen bloodworms, I had freeze dried ones I used. I mixed it up, probally too much water, but I put it in the 3 tanks, and the fish are eating it allready, they seem to love it, hopefully the snails do too.
Copper? On my Repashy soilent green it lists "copper methionine hydroxy analogue chelate". I've read that copper is toxic to snails and shrimps so I've stopped using my Repashy. What have you found/what do you think?
Most foods have all the essential minerals needed. We have been feeding this food as part of a balanced diet for over two years to our shrimp and snails. Many of our snails are 2.5 years old which is a really good age. Our shrimp breed like crazy and are very healthy. We have found it to be both nutritious and helps to provide a healthy diet for strong shells. I think a varied diet is the best diet.

Creating a bubble nest is normal behavior, it is just a sign of maturity, no need to add a female.

Feed the goldfish at the same time on one end of the tank(if you have goldfish it should be pretty big)

Yes, they love it. you don’t have to blanch it. They love organic tinned green beans too. Rinse them before use.

No, we feed the calcium chips once a week, in place of other food. You can reduce the recipe in half or less.
