    You know what, I respect you guys for being transparent with the possible issues of the morphs you sell. One of the things that irks me the most about breeders who sell dodgy morphs is that they usually never point out the issues, like Cinnamon's and their kinks and Spider Ball's with their neuro issues
    I have decided not to support breeders who knowingly produce morphs with severe issues from what you've told me Lilly White's can live a full life without neurological issues as long as you're extra careful with incubation so I don't see a reason to blacklist it. I may change my mind if more research indicates it's a bigger issue but if my research lines up with your words then I'll feel comfortable recommending you guys to others (I'm not sure if new Caledonian geckos are the right pet for me).
    Either way I respect your transparency. We need more honest breeders in the hobby.

      Thank you Rose. Every animal breeding program will eventually run into some problems but as a breeder we have to work on improving the species and at the same time matching with the demand that people create for these animals

      I love the Spider gene I have 7 different spider morphs.... some do have a slight wobble but they are healthy and eating great.... they ate great looking animals and live a happy healthy life..... I do have one that corkscrews pretty bad when you pick her up.... I won't be breeding her..... but same thing it has no problem eating and is in a good home.....

    I got 2 crested geckos when I didn’t know about crest structure, the one they sent they lied about wasn’t even the same gecko in picture but I got her anyway and she was very sick at first wouldn’t eat or drink had to force feed, the other one just so happened to have wonderful structure, anyway it’s a year now and they are both thriving, my dream in a few years would be to breed a Lilly white with him when I have more hands on experience, your video was more than helpful thanks for all the information

    Thank you for a great and informative video. I’m renting to learn more about the Lily White and other morphs, especially how to identify them. I am confused about the Lily White morph. I understood it to be identified as White up the sides and White on the top of the tail. I’ve seen several geckos that look like that but was told they are not Lily Whites. How can it look like it, but not be it? I want to be certain because I don’t want to make a mistake and breed 2 lilies together.

    This head wobble in babies incubated at higher temps could also be linked to issues with immediate calcium deficiency. One of my crested gecko babies had a major wobble, really bad, but also had zero calcium sacs. Did heavy calcium dossing and worked to bring its calcium back up to a healthy point. It still has the wobble, but its almost barely noticeable, and I think thats because having such a major health issue right out of the gate has effected its growth, particularly in the skull. I think with time it will grow out of this issue. Im not sure what causes this, if its incubation or genetics, but the symptoms line up and this is on a none lily white.

    • @TikisGeckos
      @TikisGeckos  3 года назад +3

      Well that's not why the price is dropping. Price drops naturally because the supply is catching up to the demand. They are easy to reproduce. They have been around for over 5 years now so more people have access to them

    Respect for pointing out the issues linked with Lilly Whites, guys ! I love this morph especially the phantom lilly whites, but i think it's hugely overrated (price becomes insane) considering it's a dominant trait and crested geckos reproduce so easily, it all then becomes purely an easy way to make a lot of money for quite a few breeders. Should recessive traits, good health and body type not be more important than a colour which is *frankly* pretty easy to achieve and pass along generations?

    • @TikisGeckos
      @TikisGeckos  3 года назад +2

      yes you are right. good health should be king when it comes to breeding. recessive traits are naturally going to be more expensive and harder to reproduce but at the end of the day everyone has their own favorite style of gecko

      @davidkerridge3889 3 года назад +2

      I'd doubt it. There would be no way to enforce it, prove it, or manage it. With it been the most sought after morph, and the nature of the reptile industry they would need to know and trust who has them at a guess. That's what I would do.

    • @TikisGeckos
      @TikisGeckos  3 года назад +1

      It would have to be someone I trust and personally know. Thats why when I do give them away it has been to family or close friends

  • @brittg710

    I have a question about a 50% heterozygous for axanthic gecko. Visually he is harlequin but fires up dark. His mother is a Lilly white.
    I am getting a female Lilly white here soon. Visually she looks to be a red phased Lilly white. Dad is a Lilly white and mom looks like a white based crested gecko with black markings.
    Is I bred my 50% heterozygous for axanthic male with my female…would there be a issue since his mother is a Lilly white?
    I’m also getting a dark based sibling of the red phased Lilly. She’s chocolate with a few spots on her side and a cream/reddish back and head. Since she has a Lilly father, would there be issues if I crossed her with my male?
    Not saying I am, they are all under a year and have lots of growing up to do.
    But I’m curious just in case I try it.
