1:06 “there are multiple stories about why Thomas Hull decided to build...” and I applaud you for not repeating the flat tire fable. Good job with the video.

Thank you, that story has gotten a flat tire and is stranded on Myth Boulevard.

      Haha what is the fable?

    • @VintageLasVegas

@@gjh831 The myth - here I go repeating it myself - says, “Thomas Hull got a flat tire here, noticed the number of cars that passed by, decided to build a hotel on the site, and voila the Strip is born.” It’s a convenient origin story, likely pure fiction, but it’s also boring.

I liked the old pictures of the strip before the hotels. Wow, Gloria Dea was beautiful in glad she and the cop were honored before they passed.

Dea and Moody were Las Vegas pioneers.

Yeah I recognize "Hermon Moody first blk cop"... He's the one that took off like a bat out of ( ) and gave my mom a ticket for speeding... as we were going down Tonopah HWY toward Las Vegas 1960s... I remember and still remember that look he gave me... that's him this is first time I've seen him from that time decades ago.

      Maybe Hermon was moody.

@@VegasVisual I spotted him off to the side of the road and he saw me telling my mom "there's a cop!!!" He saw me and chased us down. There were other cars passing us but he targeted us because I tried to warn my mom. He had something to prove to us and to the world.

Wonderful video & the magician was a true talent 👍⭐. I always thought someone else killed Bugsy. Guess, we will never know. Sammy finally got the respect he deserved. Wish he had a better street in the city 🥹. Vegas segregation went on way too long. Vegas was also against welfare. Look up the story about the women going against the casino mob owners for fair pay. They won😊. Keep up the great work VV😍😍

What was the women's name that went up against the mob for fair pay?

    • @texadonkey34
      @texadonkey34 Год назад +2

Ruby Duncan in 1969. She was a single mom. The law enforcement would storm these women’s houses at night, to make sure men were not in their beds. Totally shake down tactics. She went in a grass roots effort & she took them on👍😎

@@texadonkey34 Ok, I have some stuff on the 1971 rally with Ruby Duncan so in the 1970's I will be addressing that moment.

    In 1943
    Lake Mead became
    the test site of the
    S- 43 aircraft piloted
    by Howard R Hughes
The U S government was going to commandeer it for war use
The ballests of the aircraft were improperly loaded
causing the aircraft to pitch forward dig into the water then cartwheel
The support struts failed causing the propeller to dig into the cockpit
The Sikorsky 43 served as a prototype to The Hercules One better known as The Spruce Goose
The wreckage was preserved & rebuilt
    It remains operational
& is kept in a hangar in Texas
The experimental aircraft was purchased by
