Actually Laila is in The Shadow Rising, Chapter 32. Perrin liked her and at one time thought he would marry her. She's married to someone else when Perrin goes back to the Two Rivers.

That is a really good note. That you for the correction. She is however used quite differently here. But yes you are right.

Thom exposition sounds like a good chance to tell the story of The Dragon. I don't think it's necessary to see Caemlyn at all in S1. I'm thinking we get our introduction of Elayne after she's already in the tower for training.

Those are some really good thoughts. I would love to se Caemlyn, I love that part of the story, but yeah it does make sense if we saw Elayne in the White Tower.

Caemlyn is not in season 1, we are heading straight to Tar Valon. This has been known for some time based on the behind the scenes production. Also, Elayne has been cast for season 2 already so we know they'll move some things around.
I think super fans who've been following the production already know this, but maybe just the normal fans will be surprised. I doubt it's story breaking though, and frankly it's fine as long as they get the major story arcs in place that are relevant to Rand, the White Tower, and the battle of Falme.

Did you not notice that once Perrin gave into his berserk rage that the instinct to survive takes over, when he killed his wife she had her hammer raised to crush his skull?

Yeah. I have heard some fan theories that she was really a dark friend. That is an interesting idea.

Can we talk about his tiny hammer? I thought it was like 1/10th the size it should have been lolz--and it had no spike!

My issues are all writing issues--no major acting issues, besides thinking that Matt could have been more jovial. I think Lan could have a tad more personality IMO, but the casting was great. Nynaeve was a huge problem for me. They show her strength, but they don't show her flaws (yet) and she could easily be among the most flawed character. I agree about the Perrin/fridging thing. I think the trollocs looked good, but the variety didn't come through so much for me. Fade looked great.
I completely disagree about the dragon reveal. It was horribly done. You could have had that reveal been a private conversation between Lan and Moiraine if it was for the benefit of the viewer. The whole reason Robert Jordan wrote the series, literally in his own words, is because he had had the benefit of living in the country, and he knew that when Gandalf shows up at the shire and says you have to go with us, he wanted to tell a story that says country folks would say, 'Sure mate! Have a beer on me, and then slip out the back door.' I would have ended the episode after Winternight, and then begun the second episode with them explaining why they were even going with her. Instead, we get one line that says ONE OF YOU IS THE DRAGON, SO WE HAVE TO GO NOW. [Cue my WTF face] (Same face I made when Rand puked up the bat, lol)
I get why they cut out Elyas. I could have gone either way with this. I love Elias. He could have easily served the purpose that he serves in the book (to introduce the Tinkers through dialogue to avoid the expository info-dump that they used in the show). He serves as a counterpoint to their misconceptions about tinkers. And instead, they just cut him out and then had the Two Rivers folks not know about the Tuatha'an.
I have always thought that Egwene was ta'veren if you read the books enough times. I've been saying this for days. And then when they said in the show that she was ta'veren, I was immediately annoyed.
I completely agree about the costumes. I think the fact that Thom lacked a mustache pissed me off more than the cloak. Thom pocketing Matt's money? That was probably my biggest gripe about the show. (Thoughts on the whitecloak costume?)
I agree about Nynaeve's being dragged and delayed. If in anything, the new twist works better for their love story than the books (where it's just kind of hinted).
    Bayle Domon is his name.

You went though some good ideas, Thank you for your thoughtful responses.
Yes, your reference to Robert Jordan's writing intent is spot on. But, I can see why they would do it like that for the sake of a wider audience. I don't think I would have done it that way, but I understand what the tv-writer was trying to do.
Yeah, No Elyas makes sense. good thoughts there.
Yeah Thom taking their money was way out of character. So far their representation of Thom has been my least favorite thing. And that was a good note about his mustache, but for me the cloak was more important.
To your question about the whitecloak costumes I actually liked their design. I think the whitecloak hunter was curious but made sense in the world they are building.
Ah Yes! Bayle Domon!!! You are the best! thank your for saying that, For the life of me I couldn't think of his name. haha.
      Thank you! this was great!

@@NerdMorning As an aside, I really liked your show. I look forward to watching more on WoT in the future. :) I subscribed and sent this to a friend.
Overall, the best thing that I took from this video was the thought that this was a different dimension in the portal stone. That has really helped me accept it a lot more.
It's funny, my expectations were SO terribly low that, because it's exceeded my expectations (though not really perfect), I'm actually liking the show. Whereas my friend Jinx was SO excited for the show, and her expectations were very high, and she's hating it so far, haha!
On a different note, I hadn't realized that I'd already liked your Facebook page. Jeremy, you mentioned a couple things that are particular to writers--such as 'save the cat'--and I know you've written a book. Have you ever written any fantasy yourself?
I'm a fantasy writer myself. Currently editing my first novella and finishing up my second. :) Would be great to read your stuff if you have.

By "interesting choices" you must mean "they went FUBAR." This show should forever be known as Judkins' Folly.

Instead of bending over backwards to find ways to excuse this crap we should be washing the spears until Hollywood learns to quit destroying everything it touches.

I think there's a difference between the adoring fan tendency for apologetics and a genuine, objective evaluation of what you liked and disliked. Like you, I abhor the former, but I certainly didn't get that impression from this podcast--not as much as Daniel Greene at least haha!
