Finally an on the road honoring Steve Hartman. The man that deserves so much praise and honoring for what he's done for so many years. How in this story above shows how he's actually influential in children and even in parents/adults.
Congratulations Steve Hartman for all of your work and your continued success. We all appreciate it all.

I identify with this. I show Steve Hartman's stories as "One More Thing" at the end of all of my classes and have been doing this for the last few years. We need more kindness in the world. Joe Barnes, Associate Clinical Professor, Albers School of Business & Economics, Seattle University.

Yes! Sometimes it takes years to know how children are affected. When my husband was dying, I got a call from one of his "boys" from his Boy Scout troop. He said, "I wouldn't be half the man I am today if it weren't for him". This brought me to tears. This was a grown man with grandchildren. And it reminded me of a quote, "A hundred years from now it will not matter what job I had, the car I drove or the balance in my bank account. What will matter is that I made a difference in the life of a boy."

On the Road is a 1957 novel by American writer Jack Kerouac, based on the travels of Kerouac and his friends across the United States. It is considered a defining work of the postwar Beat and Counterculture generations, with its protagonists living life against a backdrop of jazz, poetry, and drug use.

A kind wise man said "The true heroes . . are the ones who lift others." Quiet heroes like Steve and Derek, who show by example how each of us can be heroes too.
I mean . . thank god these kids are learning about kindness and empathy from _somewhere_ . Now they can go home and teach it to their parents? 😄😞

Sometimes teaching is not about writing a standard or objective on the board or adhering to a five step lesson plan. This lets others know that good teaching does not always come from books, worksheets or digital assignments. It comes from taking certain moments that kids will remember for years.
