Will there be more Oxventures in the future?
I only use Astor chairs because, at a recent demonstration, Lumiere chairs were used to bludgeon the elderly.
LOL! 🤣
That time when Astor arranged a demonstration where a small goat was lashed to the foreshore at high tide with Lumiere brand cables permanently put me off the fella. I use strictly Astor brand cables now.
The best thing about Edvard’s explosive rants about Astor inventions is that he absolutely thinks he’s keeping a lid on it
I like the part where Luke throws innovention back at Andy. So he's fulfilled the part without needing for Astor to make an appearance.
I love how Edvard’s “punishment” for a bad roll is just being lured into yelling about Astor loud enough to risk getting in trouble. Luke only needed to set up the situation, knowing that Andy would not be able to restrain Edvard’s need to make a ruckus. Excellent. XD
“Some kind of crime vase!”
Dammit, Andy. Some of us are having morning coffee. Now, I’ve got a wall to wipe down, and I’m only 5 minutes in.
Upon hearing the name "Astor" Edvards eyes start to literally glow red with rage
It's like Percival hearing "Briarwood" or Caleb hearing "Trent"
Surely not! He's keeping a complete lid on it, no animosity shown between them at all!
@@MichaelBerthelsen or Lyca hearing the name "Travis". Which causes his and my blood to boil. And "Bethany." God...I fuxking hate that bitch...
Edvard's like
Any other inventor: I sleep
Astor: 👀
Those Gondoliers are becoming go-to buddies of our hapless crooks. And I love how in-depth everyone's role playing is. The gang's really committed to their characters.
I really like these adventures without the whole gang. Don't get me wrong, I love the unfettered chaos as much as the next one, but these 2 player gigs give everyone so much opportunity to shine and flesh out a cohesive narrative. Also Luke is bloody brilliant as GM. Bravo, I say. Bravo.💐👏
I feel the opposite. Everyone has their favourite talking heads and when they are missing the chemistry just isn't there. TBH, Andy is my favourite self absorbed pirate on the other show, but this one needed a Jane or Mike for him to bounce off of, but each to their own. I do however agree, Luke for his lack of exp is a very good GM.
@@fightinggamesforever3364 CHANGE? I DONT LIKE CHANGGGGEE. Agree to disagree, Luke manages to do a really good job of being in invested as a storyteller and rather than having the same adversarial setting with Johnny as DM in DnD. I rather Luke being almost an extension of a third player with the way he builds the world with so much whimsy. If you want to watch Andy the pirate go rewatch the Oxventure, Blades has a totally different feel and I believe it's superior to the oxventure in terms of its more character driven narrative. So TL;DR: I disagree with you, Oonga Bunga 😅
Watching Edvard gradually become more and more unhinged is magnificent.
"DAMN YOU AMADEUS YOU DAMNED CHARLITAN!!!"
Oh no, I just started the video, he's already about 80% unhinged!
Wonder what Andy will choose for his first trauma if it ever comes to that. Obsession sounds like the natural thing. Maybe Unstable.
@@psychronia I think they didn't inform us that canonically Edvard is already suffering from a trauma with his reactions toward anything concerning Astor
@@MetaManGamingTM So really, he's got two free traumas that won't do much of anything. Might be a little more extreme is all.
17:18 “If we’re not precise about these things, etc. etc...”
It legitimately took me a few seconds to register how hilarious this remark was, and then I immediately went back and listened to it three more times.
i dont get the joke...
I mean, it's not as funny if you've gotta explain it, but he's not at all precise about the consequences of not being precise.
@@thomaslane1547 OHHHHHHH SHIT THATS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD IM STUPID
28:50
That look of realization and rage on Andy's face is priceless.
In a fantasy ghost-filled crime setting, I love that the boys end up at Epcot
16:45 I love the way Johnny is so in character when he looks straight at the camera to say “Dissections... vivisections...” brilliant role play. I really like Kasimir 👍🏼
Johnny being the player is so funny. I feel like a tinny part of him wants revenge for chaos from dob
1000%. Kasimir feels like a direct response to Dob the nonsense bard lol
Yes, but it's not a tiny part, his entire being wants revenge, and not just on Dob
@@danculp3136 Yeah? I haven’t watched the whole episode yet but it feels like he’s a pretty down to earth character. Unless you mean “response to” as in the opposite of?
@@matthewheinlen9164 Johnny actually uses they/them pronouns :)
@@usernotfound7224 Sorry; I was referring to Kasimir. Does Kas also use they/them?
Edit: although I appreciate the reminder regardless. I’ve never met someone who uses non-binary pronouns before so I imagine I will be slipping up a lot.
Edvard: I invented the chair, if you happen to be sitting in one.
Me: *mystified* How did he know?
I was sitting on my bed. Did he invent that too?
He knew because he invented the concept of knowing
@@_b1ack0ut4i heard he also invented lying
I adore Edvard's childlike wonder/jealous rage
Sees invention: ooh
Hears "Astor": *so you have chosen death*
i went to StabCon once, was really cut up when they cancelled it
Well, when shiv hits the fan...
They didn’t give us any warning. It happened so sharply; a real knife to the heart. I feel like part of me is missing.
It was a real pain in the side
My heart bleeds for you all
The amount of bad luck in this was hilarious to me! Also Kasimir resisting guilt was the highlight to me.
I love the idea that 'developing a new goat' in Edvard's case would really mean trying to put together a live goat from scrap metal and expecting it to be a work-ready animal.
I think in one of these downtimes Edvard should make some thieves attachments for Kazimirs cane! Make him the Blades in the Dark version of a thief Batman
Johnny’s hair seems to be growing back quite swiftly. He may be back at full mane power again in no time
What a majestic lion he is.
Can you imagine if 'literally everyone else in the world" suddenly went Super Sayan?? 😅 Duck and cover my friends, duck and cover....
I'm *loving* the variety of music being used across these episodes! So atmospheric.
Luke composes a lot of it himself, he mentioned on his personal channel
Edvard is like a kid in a candy shop, Andy's roleplay is honestly really charming
Andy's pretty consistently my favourite. He's not the best necessarily, but he brings the most energy to his performances.
@@discordlexia2429everyone does a great job. My favorite is Barnaby, because you can tell how much Mike loves an excuse to be useless but he simultaneously becomes the most ruthless and effective member of the team. If Barnaby is on a score it feels like it should go bad but it is always smoother for him being there.
Kasamir is the dad, it's so sweet he goes to work while letting Edvard geek out
Crime Dad!
They just call it “dad”, actually...
I’m enjoying that Johnny is stood in front of a brick wall, that has been greenscreened to be a different brick wall.
That and the fact that this clearly takes place at the Tobacco Dock, home of Rezzed.
I love watching Luke's face as Johnny is in character, and hearing all the DMs from my past think, "Ah. You're going to be a problem, or a friend. Probably a problem."
I desperately want the goat to be some crazy steampunk monstrosity.
I'm assuming that it's simply not a goat, like it's a pony or donkey or horse or husky or cheetah or something 🤷🏼♀️
Take em out at the STABCON
Take em out with a shiv
Just ram it home between their ribs
Do it right and they'll surely not live
And its root root root of the brain stem
If they make it through it's a shame
Cuz it's one two three in the back
At the ol' STAB CON!
If I may suggest: If they live, you'd best be gone?
"He dropped my favourite retort" "Merry, twas a sharp retort"
This was hilarious. Can't wait for the next one.
Also, Andy's portrayal of Edvard, is excellent.
Cabcon also has an exhibit showcasing the newest line of old timey themed furnishings. They're calling it "Residence Medieval: The Village" collection
Where did the wood come from?! Lol
I can't understand why I find the phrase "Penny Penny" so funny xD
I agree that having Edvard and Kasimir lock up before joining the others at the pub is a good way to remove said others from today's caper though it does have me wondering what Zillah and Lilith are thinking when they don't show. Barnaby on the other hand would definitely be too smashed to even care!!!
Zillah: Where's Edvard? It's his turn to watch over drunk Barnaby tonight, dang it!
@@mar_speedman Do you honestly think Edvard can be trusted to watch over *anyone* at all, no matter what state he, or the person he is supposed to be watching over is?
"oh good some crime equipment"
"we just call it equipment"
me: "no i like crime equipment, it does sound cool"
and I love these 2 person jobs, very cool seeing the players interact
and good work luke with the DM'ing :) keep it up
I have to say too i love the outfits/make up/role
johnny whatever you put on/around your eyes i like, it works, and your character voice is so good/fitting
andy, your suit coat looks very nice and the tea cup, i like your characters corason and edvard you're great
luke, your face as the guard for the sob story slays me XD and your voices for some of the different roles you take on are great
I'm just happy we get to see what happens at Cab-Con!!!
Justice for Aloysius!
I never knew how intimidating Jonny can be when he glares at the camera
Stabcon: It's a once in a lifetime experience!
If that's not a t-shirt at some point I'll be mildly sad.
My disappointment will be immeasurable, and my day might be ruined.
I lost it at the farthing farthing 😂
So I looked it up, Edvard was right, it would be the Penny Penny. Since the penny coin was larger than the farthing coin. Oh Edvard and your childlike wonder at technology.
@@rhysiare a farthing was a quarter of a penny, and there was 240 pence in a pound. 960 farthings to the pound.
With a farthing weighing 2.8 grams, a pound of farthings was 2.7kg, which is about half a kilo off from weighing a pound.
Andy ('s top half) is looking so dapper
I'm loving this oxventure spin-off
Fantastic rolls, gentlemen.
You can count in one hand all the successes that had anything to do with the main objective, run out of digits counting the catastrophic failures, and chortle amusedly at the times petty vengeance passed with flying colors.
The only missed opportunity in this show is that we don't really see the downtime and free play phase of BitD. I know it only the fifth esipode so far, but it is one of the parts that makes this system's playstyle so unique, especially when considering entagelmants and rising rivalries or alliances between factions (think of the Dimmer Sisters appearance in the first score).
I'm personally not digging the smaller group thing. To me you either all play or no one does. Breaking it down into smaller groups runs the risk of some people not bothering to watch if they don't like one of the players as much as the others for example.
@@fightinggamesforever3364 For mi the smaller format is fine, gets more chances for roleplay between the characters, I would love to see an episode with Johny and Mike only for instance
All of these men are kings.
Johnny's facial expressions as Kasimir are so on point, when they go back to being Johnny and their whole face softens you realise how good the acting was
Am absolutely a fan of these two-player sessions! I love the chaotic energy when the gang's all together obviously, but it's really nice to see everyone's characters get a turn in the limelight (Especially since you've all made such wonderful characters!)
Stab-con: They Say It's a Once in a Lifetime Experience. That should be on a t-shirt. And it made me laugh out loud.
This week was so busy I'm so sad I missed this premiere!
Edit: Edvard's "I inovented inovention" was my favourite part here🤣 and I really love the whole part of messing up with the Alastor's device. Brilliant
I'd love it if Edvard's lab assistant decided to rock up to the convention after feeling put out for Kasimir replacing them.
Can we get a T-shirt that says 'Astor's Greatest Innoventions' on the front and on the back is a picture of Edvard driving a knife into your back (and on the knife is inscribed "StabCon")
I will buy this.
I need this now.
I have not bought merch before but this would be an exception.
We are so close... We have an Astor's Innoventions pin! We just need a StabCon shirt!
I absolutely love Kasimir's coat. Johnny plays the sort of character that I Gel with
No matter how many times I watch these, I'm never any less impressed with how good Edvard is, Andy really plays him brilliantly.
Luke was just describing the ticket inspector looking at the switchblade "they've got a big list of names and they go"-cut to a google ad for genesis energy-"Are you a genesis supporter?" I'm thinking what a weird thing for the inspector to say.
Unfortunately Kasimir favours the Super Nintendo over the Genesis.
25:40 Kasimir's "MmHm." at this point is priceless.
I don't think theirs a series I've watched that I've wanted to keep seeing more. Genuinely all of you have done such a good job I can almost see this all happening in my mind as you tell the stories. I hope you all know the talent for intrigue and world building you have.
Right? I love this series so much!!
@@myrrhfortheroad iiii wanna see them do a cyberpunk tabletop run
Luke’s a real natural. I’m passable if mediocre, but I’m a player type. I flatter myself to think I’m an excellent player, and there is some carryover. Still, Luke’s become a better DM in 6 months than I am after 2 decades of dabbling in it. It’s cool to watch. He’s honestly and easily one of the 10-15 best I’ve ever seen, and I started playing in first grade. That is a flattering number and high praise.
@@Zynet_Eseled Traveler, PARANOIA, Call of Cthulhu? :)
I’m biased to my favorite setting of all time, but I definitely want to see these guys start a PARANOIA campaign. Johnny and Jane would be so good at it.
@@juliahorn3659 I hope to become a brawler with my boyfriend sometime. He is more of my medic and emotional support
Oh how blessed we are; legend Chiodini and oxventure one week and exciting heists with Luke and co. next week. Lock down has never been better. ❤❤❤❤🍻🍻🍻🍻
Really enjoying this series, it's great to see Luke DMing and Johnny playing... also, the world is super interesting.
This goat might be a super machine, or an actual goat.
It's the demon goat from Goat Simulator
That was a perfect cliff-hanger ending. Bring on the next chapter!
Damn Johnny and Andy together, two of the quickest minds in the oxventures imo
I love how Luke gives Andy a hard time after his boasts.
The way Edvard rants about Astor sounds like a lover scored which is amazing.
8:08 The look on Johnny's face when Edvard said "flamethrowers" was priceless
Edvard and Kasimir make for a very enjoyable team. Love the contrast!
These new characters are brilliant. They're different from the Oxventurers in clear and distinct ways, not just steampunk versions of the same people, but they also suit the players perfectly. Andy is putting so much life into Edvard while Johnny has made a genuinely likable sneak. Luke's GMing is also outstanding. Off to watch part 2 now!
GOAT goat!! xD
Also, as a dedicated dice goblin, the sound Johnny made when Luke showed the Pure Luck dice was Entirely Correct and I may have to start doing it when I look at particularly shiny clicky-clacky-rolly number-rocks.
Oh my god, the whole part where they were trying to get into the convention was SO TENSE. Well done!!!
I just finished a campaign of Blades in the Dark a month ago and watching these videos already makes me want to run another one.
I did not think that I would like Edvard and Kasimir together, but this was brilliant. I love how observant Kasimir is, and how he adjusts to those around him.
It's great to see Johnny on the other side of the screen.
I know the Joyful Damnation is an ocean vessel and might not fit in a canal but I like to think it appears here as the “large tall ship” Luke mentions at 15:24
I've watched this so many times, and every time, Andy portraying Edvard's glee and amazement at the (non-Astor) inventions brings a huge smile to my face. It's so sweet
Andy's beard looking good
You know Kasimir was the last dm because he is the first to actively interact with the npc factions on his own, and is the one with the foreknowledge and 'oh no' over the name drops.
It's like watching teh sisters of fate playing blades in the dark... babyface luke and old man johnny bracketing andy.
I love how the DnD and Blades In The Dark episodes have been edited to end of cliffhangers, especially with the faces they all pull.
Just remember, what happens at Cab-Con stays at Cab-Con
Ah yes a tale of where the uncle takes his adult nephew on a heist a true classic story of the ages
I guess Andrill survived being unconscious in the closet while the house was set on fire. Good on him.
The whole kasmar and edvard relationship is shaping up quite nicely should be interesting to see how this episode evolves given it is a quite simple one at least so far
I love getting to see Johnny and Luke in these roles. Luke definitely has a talent for DM-ing that would be sorely wasted if we didn't get to see it, and I really enjoy getting to see Johnny bring his own creativity to a Character all his own. That being said, love all the Oxventurers. These videos have definitely helped break up the monotony of quarantining during a Pandemic and have even provided some great ideas for ways to keep in touch with friends without needing to be in the same room.
I think this is a really good use of Luke's penchant for coming up with plans. He's always the first one with a wacky scheme in any scenario, so now he can concoct them as fast as necessary to keep up with his players, and it gives everyone else a chance to think of what to do.
@@octochan I agree 100%
Weekly entreaty for a Jon cameo episode :)
Okay, but if this heist is Edvard and Kasimir, how will Barnaby lose a coat?
Lost it at the pub 🍻
These partial party adventures are plenty good enough and it's a wonder we didn't discover that a long time ago.
I hear Capcom every time they say it 😂
I'm pretty sure that's the joke...
Man these characters play off each other beautifully
This is just beautiful. Andys roleplay and Lukes GMing is just very good. (not to throw shade on Johnny, Kasimir is amazing. But he got so much experience over both that I at least almost take it for granted)
It's just beautiful to see Andy chewing the scenery as someone so opposed to his usual demeanor. And Luke has this fun and fair bit of storytelling that is outright heartwarming.
Top it with Johnny as a player. Supportive to both GM and other players, fantastic character, just the envy of any RPG table out there I would reckon.
Edvard’s face change at 28:51 was pure gold. 😂
Ha! I knew the beard action Andy had going on in the latest Dicebreaker/Eurogamer/Oxbox collaboration had something to do with Blades in the Dark! And I'm here for it :D
WHAT COLLAB!?
@@DiZtheJedi the Quiplash thingy. But I think I was mistaken xD thought Andy would go full on mustache.
@@mandoschMUh Oh, I thought you meant a DnD collab between Oxventure, Dungeonbreaker, and Break Quest Club. Really got my hopes up there.
@@DiZtheJedi ah, no. Sorry. But really hope it's gonna happen someday.
I feel that this fair is exactly like the London Fair in Steamboy!❤❤❤
The fact that Andy's jokes about EA and Starcraft went completely uncommented is an outrage! I had to rewind and re-listen twice because I was enjoying it so much!
This series has rapidly become my most anticipated watching. I love how inventive it is, from the setting to the character choices and the joint storytelling they all seem to excel at. And the music! Flipping heck, the Cab Con music is particularly delightful. These episodes are making my weekends extra joyful. Thanks to all involved! (Also Johnny's "What's that about? Do you just hate certain objects?" made me ugly laugh. He's so damn good.)
"Not apoplectic with rage, apoplectic with being right" 😂😂
Using the mere presence of an Astor Innovention as a complication for a bad roll, knowing that Edvard will not be able to contain himself, is simply _genius._
I was totally expecting the goat to be Alexander the Great making an appearance. Ask Johnny.
Love the Cab-con music. 😊
Oh would you look at that! Johnny is perfect as well 😄
I have a theory:
Edvards lab assistant is actually Astor and he is completely oblivious because he couldn’t be bothered to remember his name
He probably told him his name but he forgot and just calls him « Tin-Head » or something because he thinks his assistant is stupid
And for every single invention, he’s actually asked permission to tinker his own version and sell it, and Edvard would cockily say “Of course my boy! If you can copie my brilliant, un-copiable invention, go ahead, ha ha ha” Because he just strongly believes his assistant to be stupid.
He’d stay oblivious, teething with rage at the mere mention of Astor while completely ignoring his assistant who believes they’re actually partners and best friends. 😂
Oh and all the rumours about Lumière inventions are actually all true because he’s actually a worse inventor than he thinks he is.
this is a nice series, it's cool how you rotate the players and i love the details with the background and how the images changed with the difference sections and how one of them read as Chelland when Kasimir was at their area. i also like how failure doesn't mean they dont get what they are after just adds some difficulty to it.
Why does it feel like Kasimir and Edvard have some kind of relationship, either very good friends or... almost brothers? It's weird but I love it!!
Very entertaining and enjoyable, Luke is especially excellent. I am interested to see if Zillah will be heisting at some point.
Probably next week. I'm assuming they're rotating
