Probably one of my favorite accomplishment is that I memorized every single mon by national dex order all the way from Bulbasaur to Pecharunt!! So seeing them all struggle was quite amusing.

Challenged myself to try this beforehand just to see how hard it is.
Got 138/151, mostly missing twin evolutions (sandshrew/sandslash, etc...)
Streamer brains will have got to some of them if they all did this live, so mad props to all of them!

Mind you, I'm French, so I know them more with their French names, but I tried it in English anyway.

I simply didn't go fast enough, and the spelling on some was rancid. Like, I forgot it was raTicate, or that it's Wigglytuff with a W, and not J, nothing before the iggly part, or whatever. And of course thinking that some French names were also the english ones (like Electabuzz) though to my defense, there's obviously some that are the same, and not because they might be the japanese names, like Tauros, Magmar or Electrode.
Update: I did it again, this time in French, got 123/151, and I forgot the same ones that I didn't have time to write in the English version.
Now I'll watch the video.

I was about to yell at you all and say I'm disappointed. But then I took the test myself and scored a 68/151. I apologize for my rudeness, and I will reflect on it.
Anyone who plays Sporcle knows that Smith and Alpharad did really well, and CaptainKidd was out of this world. This is more difficult than you think
it really really isn't though. First attempt I literally only forgot Tentacool and Tentacruel existed for some reason, so 149/151. Using verses of the pokerap, the official guide's Pokedex which is committed to memory, and just going through the game in your mind, how do you score sub 100?

I've been training for these quizzes with each generation, and only moving to the next one once I've memorized all of the previous gen. Biggest thing that helps me is singling out the non evolvers, then going for the base forms and saving their evolutions for last

I do this type of quiz every few months. sometimes i remember nearly all of them, and other times i am missing like 20-30 for no reason

I got 138/151.
Missed Pokémon: Zubat, Golbat, Exeggcute, Exeggutor, Magnemite, Magneton, Kangaskhan, Horsea, Seadra, Pinsir, Porygon, Lickitung and Tangela.
I actually thought I'd do a little better, but after a bit, it became more difficult.
Least everyone scored above 75. Pokémon masters in my eyes

Tip number 1: try to remember all gym leaders's teams. Pokemon games try to show as many evolutionary lines as possible in other NPCs teams, so you'll cover a lot of Pokemon like that.
Tip number 2: only write a single pokemon of every evolutionary line so you only have to write one name and you can leave the others for the end.
(Btw, I find it absolutely hilarious that as a Spanish I remember better how to write pokemon names, which are mostly made of english words, better than native English speakers XD).
(Edit) Tip number three: if at any moment you remember a pokemon while you are using tip 1, WRITE IT. Stop for a moment thinking about gym leaders and write that pokemon because if you don't do it you'll later think that you already wrote it.
(Second edit) Tip number four: if you are doing it for all gens, think about filling all the starters, then regional birds, pikachu clones, first route bugs, legendaries, pseudo legendaries, fossils, etc. If you can think about any category of Pokemon, try to complete each one at the start, and then you'll have basically all the easy ones.
NOTE: Tip #1 does not work for Johto Pokémon

I had some CRAZY type orders like Zubat, Geodude, Golbat, Graveler, Venonat, Golem, Venomoth. It's basically free association used for memorizing. 😭

To be fair, "Exeggcute" is a crime against language.

Once upon a time I could rattle off the first 100, in order, no problem. No clue how well I would do today just recalling them at all.
As a Gen one lover who played FireRed and Leafgreen so many times, I laughed at this. Granted, I couldn't name in order to say my life but you bet I'd name all of them
I felt mandela effected doing this on Venusaur - my brain is so certain it's always been Venasaur.
Decided to give this a go myself before watching, and managed to get 127/151 which felt pretty good... until I looked at the ones I missed.
Managed to remember a ton of the more obscure ones like Venonat, Dewgong & Kangaskhan, but deadass forgot some of the most obvious ones out there, including (but not limited to) Zubat, Lapras, Magnemite, Rattata & even Snorlax. What the hell is wrong with my brain 💀

I tried it for myself before watching this video, got 146. The ones I forgot were Horsea, Seadra, Vulpix, Ninetales, and Lickitung. Honestly, I don't feel bad for forgetting any of those. Seadra didn't become interesting until Gen 2, Ninetales didn't become interesting until Gen 7, and Lickitung...never became interesting.
Honestly thought this was going to be all 1050 pokemon but that would have made this video 10 hours long

The good thing about learning the names of the Pokémon with a Spanish accent is that you can quite literally know the spelling just by saying the name. The thing is, if fans heard my pronounciation, they would pretty sure send a man to murder me.

Is it cheating to use another tab to check a spelling? As long as you don't look up what it is, but just to remember how they're freaking spelled in fringe cases? I had to "check" Shellder and Exeggcute.
I got all of them but 4. In terms of ones I felt bad about, I forgot Horsea and Seadra, thinking about them in Gen 2 with Kingdra. I also forgot Snorlax, which made me sad, but part of me was trying to remember types/bosses, and I can't remember a relevant trainer that uses a Snorlax against you.
I also forgot Lickitung, but that one's forgettable as fuck.
When I saw this video I gave it a quick try myself before watching and got 142.
But I guess I was playing on easy mode, because *most* of the German names are a pretty straightforward to spell.

I was expecting at least a few people to get them all, but I guess 131 ain't bad.
Got a lot of them trying to recall memorable moments in the game, like gym battles and unique mechanics, like evolution conditions.
I got 129 (it’s like 131 but I forgot how to spell exeggcute and exeggutor), feel like less of a dissapointment after watching this.

I'm not gonna call it cheating if you're only looking up the spelling, real talk some of them are tough to remember how they're supposed to be spelled, like Gyarados, especially considering how it's pronounced. But yeah, it's naming them, if you know the name, just not how to spell it, you still know the 'mon.
