For the ultimate train lover, the classic "The Thunder of Steam in The Blue Ridge" :)!!! Though released in 1963, most of the scenes are shot in 1958 and depict these iron beauties in the Blue Ridge and as far as Ohio. Thank you for stopping by and please like, share & subscribe for more fresh train content coming soon :D!!!
Fred's camera was an Aurecon 12mm sound movie camera. A High priced top-shelf set of equipment that the average rail enthusiest of that era could only dream of owning.
Fred McLeod was one of few who shot sound film in that era, and he certainly got around!
+DivergingClearVideo Thanks for the info and hope you are subscribed as there sure is more where that came from :)!!!
I'm glad people got out there and recorded this stuff when it was still around. It happened in my life time, but I wasn't lucky enough to get a first hand look.
g bridgman You and me both, and speaking of awesome trains, I hope you have seen the other videos on here and rest assured there's more to come ;)!!!
P.S: Thanks for having subscribed as well :)!!!
Sound is 1/2 the experience, finally one of the original era w/ sound!
I like seeing this video, my Y6Bs and other simple and compound steam locomotives will be during the same work on my Southern layout in my parts of the blue ridge that Southern railroad travel in.
could anyone see what two Y6bs would do on the loops or Saluda mountain.
17:02 Not sure if the number says 2156 or 2186
Sorry for the delay but we checked and it says 2156. Hope that helps and cheers!
@@16mmMaestro Oh sweet, the surviving Y6 (Y6a) seen in service! Yes it does help, thanks!
Right on and you are most welcome!
Gotta love the footage of the John Deere two-cylinder tractors in the flatcar at 6:26! Carrying a consignment from Waterloo, Iowa!
+MosriteFlyinFingers Nothing quite like old train footage, eh? Thanks for the comment and please subscribe for such great content already on and still to come to the channel.
like it reason education and nice view.
like my comment and true.

Can't believe its still around today.
Very nice. I enjoyed that. Thanks for posting. I've seen other archival footage with N&W's pushers running backwards. I presume that was a rare occurrence.
Thanks for commenting and hope you are subscribed as I believe I do have some more train titles yet to come :)!!!
Yes, I subscribed.
I wasn't sure if it was my laptop or headphones, but I only heard audio in one channel, the left side. I went back to videos I watched before and realized this video was recorded that way. Is there anyway you can re-record the video and have the audio play in both channels? The single channel sounded like a lot of hissing sound as locomotives passed. The video is great! I enjoy the N+W steam. This past summer, 2017, I visited the Virginia Museum of Transportation AND the O. Winston Link Museum. Two museums I highly recommend for every steam railfan. Interesting to learn that O. Winston Link played a big part in the survival of both 611 & 1218.
+Paul Wassel We are very happy to hear that you loved the video and thank you very much for the kind words as well. This was converted from our large 16mm archive we have, and unfortunately ( not yet anyways), we don't have the means to convert the mono sound track 16mm native sound to stereo :(... If you bear with us, we do have more vintage train titles to come :)!!!
Canada 150 Archive, I subscribed to your videos. I'll keep watching for more great videos. Keep them coming!
I have a similar Blackhawk print of a Fred McCleod film titled "Diesels Roar on the Pennsy". You don't often see vintage Diesel sound film.
Wow, live sound and everything! Awesome video! I hate the phony dubbed sound that other videos have!
+Michigan Rail Productions Glad you like it and be sure to sub for more where that came from :)!!!
