I traveled to bandung by Indonesia’s whoosh train, it was smooth & pretty fast reached 350km/hr only took 40minutes, they said take 2-3 hours to bandung by regular train

While India is still riding on the past glory, it has lost its steam in the last 10 years because India did not have an able and far sighted leader like Jokowi! I am also South Indian, you are blind and uneducated if you think India has lost any steam in last 10 years, there has been more development in the last 10 years than the 30 years before it put together. The current central government has a very good sight for the future and I feel like this is the best cabinet India has ever had till date. You are comparing a country with 7000 km of rail to a country with over 1.28 lakh km of rail, our population, country area and the scope of infrastructure is all much higher than Indonesia. If the current cabinet will remain for 10 more years, then India will easily surpass the infrastructure of most of the world. We have 93% electrification. Our metros alone are over 1000 km in length (operational). More are under construction. You as an Indian have no idea of your own country's feats, it's sad tbh.

Everyone comparing a system which is 80% electrified and a length of 1,28,000 km with a system of length of only 8k km and 7 % electrified. Everyone talk about looks, cleanliness, but nobody talks about length, carbon footprint, ridership, net profit. Both railway is beautiful and serving their country. However there is room for improvement in both of them
I don't think we will have double decker train anytime soon in Indonesia, our axle load is not supported for such a thing. Not only our track is lot narrower than India (1067mm vs 1676mm) but also platforms, tunnels, overhead catenaries, bridges are not suitable for double decker train. But maybe we will have double decker high speed in the future regarding the larger loading gauge. China is now developing new double decker CR400 high speed train (the same type of train we use) and possibilities opens up, we're using the same technologies with China in term of high speed train..
even USA doent have electric double decker trains, but here in india recently dadicated freight corridors of total 4000km is completed which is fully electrified specially designed for double decker train, india use broad gauge tracks which help us to run double decker trains at 100kmph
It might not possible in Java or Sumatra due to smaller axle load limit but for Kalimantan, Sulawesi or even Papua, that's different thing. Except Java or Sumatra we will have standard gauge rail with 25T axle load. So in the future possibility is open in these areas, however it is unlikely we will see it very often due to less denser population in those 3 islands it might not financially sense to serve all route with double decker train.

India is some of the most difficult terrain where railway tracks are laid from Himalayan to Konkan railway. Yes our trains might look old but it's because we have to serve them. India is growing slowly but without taking unmanageable loans. The loan for bullet train from Japan for Indian HSR is mere 0.1 percent. Compare that to what you guys got for your HSR from China. You'll then know how difficult it's in the Indonesian economy.

In fact, Indonesia's public transportation of trains is less popular in some provinces. People prefer private cars, personal bikes, or public buses. And these days they prefer to order taxi online because it's easier. To travel long distances between islands, the Indonesian people preferred to take planes because they were more efficient. Subway or MRT yes about 5 years and LRT 6 months and and the bullet train is the same about 6 months. The bullet train extension 700 km starts this year. Maybe when the extended bullet train from Bandung to Surabaya finished, the bullet train in India is still on the progress. The bullet train project in India runs very slowly. I doubt it will finish.

Indonesia now is preparing to extend the high speed train route from Jakarta to Surabaya. The train will be built by Indonesian company Inka with technology transfer from China. Indonesia partnered with Japan to build KRL I think there is no technology transfer back then. But! After the success of Whoosh last year there was technology transfer from Japan and this year Indonesia will launch 16 new KRL trains made by Inka.

One thing people are just ignoring is that, though the Indonesian railways have a bullet train running 300+ kmph and Indian railways can't go beyond 200 kmph, India is doing it all by themselves in the country, while the Indonesian bullet trains are straight up 100% made in China and then just imported. Regarding the train yes it was built up from china, but dont forget the track, to make bullet train works the track have to be super smooth, the electricity, the station, security and management. Not all countries had that capabilities to build that. Running 350km/hr land transport is not easy.
The amount of people travelling Indian railway in month is bigger than Indonesian whole population and the transportation in Indian railway is so affordable. Indian railway have different class of trains according to need for public transportation. Indian railway has two UNESCO heritage sites. Indian railway operating some world most luxurious train like Maharaja Express , Palace on Wheels, Golden Chariot etc. Indian railway has some advanced train and advanced stations , bullet train aslo will run in upcoming year. So Indian railway is comparatively bigger and better than other.

The service quality isn't only count based on how superior your coaches or how big the number of passenger, but ride quality, ontime performance, track quality index, etc. I can see the point when 1676mm gauge train can only runs 130km/h and only in certain section it runs 160km/h while cape gauge train in Indonesia done a good job since very long time speeding 120km/h. Don't ever argue about cleanliness and ontime performance, people spitting all around the station and train runs 20 minutes late is normal. Most of your track has TQI bigger than 20 so it is no surprise but if you look your countrymen, they want it to run in dellusional speed 200km/h.

The current central government has a very good sight for the future and I feel like this is the best cabinet India has ever had till date. You are comparing a country with 7000 km of rail to a country with over 1.28 lakh km of rail, our population, country area and the scope of infrastructure is all much higher than Indonesia. If the current cabinet will remain for 10 more years, then India will easily surpass the infrastructure of most of the world. We have 93% electrification. However there is room for improvement in both of them
I don't think we will have double decker train anytime soon in Indonesia, our axle load is not supported for such a thing. Not only our track is lot narrower than India (1067mm vs 1676mm) but also platforms, tunnels, overhead catenaries, bridges are not suitable for double decker train. But maybe we will have double decker high speed in the future regarding the larger loading gauge. China is now developing new double decker CR400 high speed train (the same type of train we use) and possibilities opens up, we're using the same technologies with China in term of high speed train..
even USA doent have electric double decker trains, but here in india recently dadicated freight corridors of total 4000km is completed which is fully electrified specially designed for double decker train, india use broad gauge tracks which help us to run double decker trains at 100kmph
It might not possible in Java or Sumatra due to smaller axle load limit but for Kalimantan, Sulawesi or even Papua, that's different thing.
Except Java or Sumatra we will have standard gauge rail with 25T axle load. So in the future possibility is open in these areas, however it is unlikely we will see it very often due to less denser population in those 3 islands it might not financially sense to serve all route with double decker train.

The loan for bullet train from Japan for Indian HSR is mere 0.1 percent. Compare that to what you guys got for your HSR from China. You'll then know how difficult it's in the Indonesian economy.

Subway or MRT yes about 5 years and LRT 6 months and and the bullet train is the same about 6 months. The bullet train extension 700 km starts this year. As an Indian, I would say Indonesia is certainly better in this aspect. They are also a more prosperous country with GDP per capita twice to that of India. So I would say it will take India 5-7 years more to reach where Indonesia is now.

One thing people are just ignoring is that, though the Indonesian railways have a bullet train running 300+ kmph and Indian railways can't go beyond 200 kmph, India is doing it all by themselves in the country, while the Indonesian bullet trains are straight up 100% made in China and then just imported.

Regarding the train yes it was built up from china, but dont forget the track, to make bullet train works the track have to be super smooth, the electricity, the station, security and management. Not all countries had that capabilities to build that. Running 350km/hr land transport is not easy.
The amount of people travelling Indian railway in month is bigger than Indonesian whole population and the transportation in Indian railway is so affordable. Indian railway have different class of trains according to need for public transportation. Indian railway has two UNESCO heritage sites. Indian railway operating some world most luxurious train like Maharaja Express , Palace on Wheels, Golden Chariot etc. Indian railway has some advanced train and advanced stations , bullet train aslo will run in upcoming year. So Indian railway is comparatively bigger and better than other.
For India quantity matters and that's okay. Indonesia is number fourth in term of quality behind Japan, South Korea and China.
Safety, Cleanliness and Comfort that's what we define as better standard.

The service quality isn't only count based on how superior your coaches or how big the number of passenger, but ride quality, ontime performance, track quality index, etc.
I can see the point when 1676mm gauge train can only runs 130km/h and only in certain section it runs 160km/h while cape gauge train in Indonesia done a good job since very long time speeding 120km/h. Don't ever argue about cleanliness and ontime performance, people spitting all around the station and train runs 20 minutes late is normal.
Most of your track has TQI bigger than 20 so it is no surprise but if you look your countrymen, they want it to run in dellusional speed 200km/h.
