The whole high speed system (train , rails, and control system/ticket system) is made by China. India chose Japan to build its first high speed train, but Indonesia made different decision. Good luck to Indians.

Then by the end of the year gov will earn ₹1500 crores. Dividing it by total cost of construction it will take 33 years to recover the construction cost. But a project like this offers much more economy indirectly. So, I am not going to say that this project is a waste.
These type of projects never made for profit. Indirect benefits are huge like tourism and bussiness increase and also country start looking like a first world developed country.
Go and see China that how they can utilise their High speed railway Capabilities in Transportation. You can get your product delivered within 24 hours ago no matter what is the distance between wether it is 500 or 5000 kmts. Alibaba delivered their orders to customer from Shanghai to Beijing in same day or in few hours and distance is 1300 kmts
It's more than 50 years...if we take into account operational costs and loan interests. Contribution to economy might not be too significant, because Jakarta and Bandung already has clean and reliable regular train services.
