    I had an indoor 55in LCD VIZIO smart TV that I mounted outdoors for 5 years before it died on 6/1/20.
    The TV was in the Pittsburgh area, so not as hot as Florida but still humid. It was on a covered porch the same as this one. Always in the shade. If a big storm was coming or I was going out of town for awhile, I covered it with a TV cover but 98% of the time it was uncovered. I put an identical TV mount in the garage and in the winter I just moved it to my garage (which is under my house, normally 50 degrees in the winter). I keep the remote in the house when I am not using it. I also have a wireless WiFi cable box that is velcroed to the back (only used this for the past two years, prior to that I just used WiFi and the smart TV apps (Netflix mostly))
    Overall I’m very happy that it lasted this long. I’m going to buy another TV this week. I’m just not sure what indoor brand works best outdoors. Probably a Samsung or LG this time since I read they have higher temperature limits. I’m also going to get an LCD since its cheaper and I’m told gives you a brighter picture than OLED.

    I am decorating my backyard and installed a gazebo. I purchased a media screen and projector that didn't look good during the day so I decided to purchase an outdoor tv but the problem is the cost and weight. My backyard townhouse property is not fenced in so I was going to carry it into my home after each use mounting it on a tripod until I heard reviews on how heavy an outdoor tv is...after seeing this and other videos I decided with going with a $300 indoor tv which is much lighter. I can mount it on a sturdy tripod and carry it inside after each use. Thanks for your video

    I used to do Darius Ruckers Landscaping , at his house in South Carolina. He has an inside TV outside because his house is on stilts and the under part where the TV is, is always nice and shady and you can see the TV even in the broad daylight. So it's not a bad idea.

    My only issue with using a cheap indoor TV outdoors is that they are usually not all that brilliant indoors compared to nicer tvs, so outdoors during the day, even in the shade, it could be a tough watch, especially if it has a glossy screen with no anti-reflecting coating, which at that price point, would most certainly be the case. I have a cheap Hisense TV that I'll test drive outdoors before buying a new one for that task.

      Just find the cheapest tv with the highest "nits" (candle power) and you will be good to go

    I'm in the panhandle as well and had a 73 in tv I used as my everyday TV until we got a new one last year. I moved it outside to replace the tv I had since it still worked. Its been outside for about a year and a half and only used once a weekend during football season and now its dying. I need to replace it and I think I am going to buy a cheap 55in and mount it on a pull out swivel mount. Where its located its out of the sun and weather so hopefully it lasts a lot longer. We shall see

    Did you use dielectric spray? It is a good way to protect the circuit boards and electronics. Humidity will cause internal corrosion.

    Did you do anything to secure the mount.I want to do the exact same thing as this but i am worried if the backboard behind the siding will be able to take the weight or not?.Also if i drill the hole in the siding will it be ok.Please advice.

    • @adfadgaqgv
      @adfadgaqgv 4 года назад +2

      Most homes have 3/4” plywood behind the siding so it should hold. When wiring a new home I always put 3/4” plywood where the tv will be hung and I've never had a problem. You can also screw in a couple 2x4s horizontally and support the mount to those

    • @BrandonActionJackson
      @BrandonActionJackson  4 года назад +1

      It is through the 3/4 ply and into 2x6 studs it’s extremely secure ... from the interior wall locate a stud and use that to find it from a reference point on the outside

    • @adfadgaqgv
      @adfadgaqgv 4 года назад

      @@BrandonActionJackson studs arnt really necessary if you use a few good size lags since the plywood will hold it just fine. I've got my 65" hanging on a mount that pulls out 30", and I'm using about 8 togglers that are rated for 250lbs each in sheetrock, and then of course lags in the studs
