"Pick of the Day" - Orange AD-30HTC and PPC212

- We're often living in the land of Fender amps along with modern boutique builds, but every once in a while we get called back into Orange territory! Today's pick is an excellent AD-30HTC and PPC212 cabinet, a popular two-channel AC30 style head and 2x12 open-back cabinet. The head comes in at 30-watts with foot-switchable channels, of course great British tone powered by four EL84s. The cabinet has a nice open sound, as opposed to the sometimes overbearing low-end a fully closed cabinet can provide. Loaded with Celestion G12H speakers this combo is top notch! Today Trevor is plugging in his Eric Daw/Pinup Stratocaster for the demo.

Always delighted with the clean tones and touch sensitivity of Orange amps, especially with their reputation for distortion. Thanks!
Clean channel on the Rockeverb 50 mk1 is amazing.
I remember being at a small concert and was a bassist at the time, didn’t know anything about guitars or amps, and I heard a insanely beautiful sustaining guitar solo and it was an orange ad30. That sound has been in my head for 17 years now.
I was wondering after seeing your series on fun and affordable guitars if you guys could do a series on your WORST guitars. Not only would it be interesting, it might move some stock if people like them!
Good concept ! They sorta did that a week or so with that orange (?) explorer type thing.
Guy said "I know, it's hideous.....but its been set up and it plays great". It sold !!! Who knows how long it sat there (price drop may have helped ;)
Literally my favorite amp
I've got an 2006 AD30HTC and a PPC 212 closed back. It's made in England and sounds awesome.
Can’t thank you enough One of the best demos I’ve ever watched Perfection Guitar Guitarist Amp/Cab Fantastic Thanks again🤩⚡️⭐️
Very cool amp set. Peter Green used an Orange, too.
Years ago, I viewed a Celestion vid that demo'd some of their 12's. The G12H was my fave..
That strat sound amazing but has def some grounding issues!
Great playing , something about this amp that pulls me in , it has a bite and the cleans sparkle
That's a great sounding strat!
I always sigh when I see a Strat for an amp demo. Gang, we are in for 12 minutes of neck pickup noodling! We may or may not hear any bridge pickup, Malcolm Young style crunch. 🔊🧐
Diff strokes for diff folkes
I agree 100%
I don't think Malcolm Young ever played in AC30 could be wrong
And more of us sigh when we see a comment like yours just whining and complaining.... There are tons of demos on this amp, that do not feature a strat. Go watch them.
The amazing part is this head and cab for $1500 only three years ago.
The only thing close to AC30 is the D as this was Ades first amp for them. It's like a Plexi with a real eq pushing a compressed power section
Great freakin playing Trev!!! And amp sounds sick.
great amps, I love the first version of these with the single channel. They feel awesome to play, like somewhere between an ac30 and a marshall 1974x
A humbucker would have been nice 👍🏻
I have the 2x12 closed back orange cab and its heavy as hell! Cool sound though
What kind of tubes in there if you dont mind?Cheers
Saw another comment about doing a video about your worst guitars in the store. THAT would be a fun watch!
it's named after ade, the designer, not the ac30. it sounds closer to a marshall than a vox imo
Squishy and wonderful. Jangly and juicy. That's Orange for ya
Does your strat have lollar blondes?
50% amp sound 50% whatever grounding issue that POS Crapocaster is having
Oh Orange, how I love thee.
doesn’t really sound like a AC30 at all… and yes, i own one.
Too much talking. Then once he started to play all I could think is why is he saturating the sound with effects. Well the only conclusion I came to is that the amp sounds like crap on it's own. Salesmen will try and sell anything. They are so full of crap.
ooo
Amazingly ill informed pitch on so many levels
Fart City. I heard MUCH better.
NO,Soony
this is not the "Orange" that went bankrupt in 1979
BTW
your guitar is backwards .. !!
and ....
who the fukk plays a guitar amp with the Bass on "10" .. :(
in what way? It's the same brand under control of the original company founder cliff cooper. Gibson only owned them for a short time
@@embreesmith7613 Jimmy Page does, and most ppl in the 70s, specially with marshalls and oranges
They never went bankrupt. Two of their overseas distributors did so demand dropped quickly. Then hair metal hit. They continued through the 80s making small runs and custom orders. In '93 they licensed the name to Gibson. Cliff still owned the company though. The Gibson manufactured amps didn't sell to expectations so they didn't renew the license. Cliff relaunched the company in about '97 with their current amp designer and they've been successful ever since.
