@lmfao69420 but how can you back it up though? Heard a guy mention that pfSense allows you to do this but since I don't see a way to get to the config file through vi i'm at a loss.
IF YOU'RE DOING THIS 2023 OR LATER: He says "accept all default settings" while you're first booting up the firewall. The default partition option isn't correct anymore, though! You'll need to manually select the "Auto (UFS) BIOS" option from the list. Right now the default option is ZFS.
I was unable to figure out why I was unable to access the pfSense webConfigurator and was instead being directed to my router. This week-long wrench has now been removed. I can't understate how huge this was. Thank you!!!
Hi. I really enjoy the content you are putting out there, keep it up! What do you think about using a physical pfsense router instead of a logical one? I have a "HP T620 PLUS Thin Client" and I can easily install pfsense on it. From there I can connect the access point to it so every wired or wireless device in the apartment will connect to this pfsense router.
When I finish configuring the Network adapters and run the pfsense CE in vmware, it asks me to purchase a license. Is that the only way to setup network?
My question is why not enable DHCP on the 2.1 network? I mean the topology indicates there are at least three mandatory machines in there. I can see statically assigning the servers IPs but the windows machines too?
Hi I really enjoy your videos, its very educative. Well I'm having a problem when installing pfsense on my computer. The computer has two NIC port but pfsense only detects one interface which is the WAN I imterface, why is that?? Please help me out
@@DayCyberwox just viewed the website. seems like you can only run a single virtual machine on the vmware player. I'll buy pro then. Thanks for the response
I cant make a custom vmnet in the network editor as "custom" is not an option. I only see Bridged, Nat and Host-only. So how did you get yours to show "custom vmnet 3" etc.?
Is anyone having issues downloading the iso of pfsense? When downloading the vmware station is not recognizing the iso file Can anyone please suggest what the problem may be and how to resolve
@@masonmcgahey7 How do you connect them to custom virtual networks? I've added the extra nics, but they're attached to nat and I don't see an option for custom like in vmware
Don't forget to do a snapshot of the baseline configurations!
How much storage does snapshots take?
I’m not sure but I don’t think it’s a great deal of storage.

Using UFS caused me not to be able to access the webconfigurator, had to use ZFS. In my experience with virtual box
Can someone explain why using UFS didn't allow to properly use the webconfigurator?
Completely awesome dude, I'm blown away by everything you've done.
Thanks for the great lecture! I am middle of doing lab work
Awesome stuff!
Thanks dude!
thanks you so muck !!!
You're welcome!
great help
Thanks for showing this lab build man, What were the configs for each of the custom VMNet interfaces?

Thanks for watching Afshin! That’s definitely a good idea, try it!
@@DayCyberwox Thanks for the quick reply man!
5:45 by default on newest version of pfSense it goes to Auto ZFS
Thank you for your efforts, my wan interface has no ip address assigned how can i fix this please

Thanks Sulaiman.
Do you mind joining our discord (link in bio), I can help troubleshoot better from there since I’ll have to ask multiple questions.

Hi, can you please do this lab on Virtualbox?
Question, I just installed pfsense on virtualbox, but i can only see 1 interface (em0)? how can i see/add more interfaces?
Question, I'm using VirtualBox cause of budget reasons. Could you share how I would do it in that platform?
It’s really the same process only thing necessary is to figure out the network interfaces and adapters.
Is it possible to do network management through VMWorkstation Player? Or will I have to buy the $120 Pro Version.
You need the pro version for this lab.

@@DayCyberwox yea pro 16. I added some via the network editor but I’m not sure if the settings (DHCP, bridged, host etc)
@@jfsf8963 The settings for that are with the individual virtual machines. I didn’t do anything with the network editor in this video.
@@DayCyberwox ok cool hopefully
It all comes together. Thanks for the reply
@@jfsf8963 No problems 👍🏽
My router ip is 192 168 1 1. If I typed that in for pfSense Lan ip will this interfere with accessing fios webgui?
If you’re doing that in your vm network no. If you’re doing that with NAT yep

Can anyone please suggest what the problem may be and how to resolve
Make sure you select it as the AMdx64 ISO file, if its not done correctly it wont recognize the OS. The ISO file has the word "released" in the name.
I am having this same problem. Did you ever end up getting this to work?
Cant figure out the NIC part in VirtualBOX.
Must use CLI (Powershell) to add the extra nics. I can send the resources or commands if you reply.
