    This review was really helpful, I appreciate that you actually showed us how you use it rather than just talking and talking as in most of the review videos.

      Thank you 🙏🏾. Still my main laptop for art. Such a phenomenal piece of hardware.

    The dial looks so neat it’s just kind of expensive. I forgot they even made that.

    The Surface Studio always seems nice, but I kind of see what you mean. It's less portable than the Pro, but I feel like the Pro would be better for everyday use because of the prices.

    Would you recommend this for someone who wants to learn digital art?
    Also, is the Surface Dial a useful accessory foe artists

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  10 месяцев назад +6

      If you are just starting out with digital art, I suggest looking into one of the top three devices: Surface Pro, iPad, or Galaxy Tab S9. The Laptop Studio is a great option, it can be quite pricey. Another device to consider is the Surface Go 4. Additionally, the Surface Dial can be a useful tool, although I mainly use it as a dedicated back button when in studio mode. If you come across a cheaper, used one, it could be a viable option.

    Do you draw in tent mode? if so, how is the screen stability with applying pressure with the hand while drawing? is there very noticeable Screen flex?

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  16 дней назад

      @@MRwilsondraws I tend to draw with the screen flat. Unless it's in my lap then I do draw in tent mode. It doesn't flex too much. I also most of the time have my non-drawing hand behind the screen as well for added stability.

    Can I use the old Surface Book 2 pen with this? Or does it have to be a slim one?

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  5 месяцев назад

      You can, but you'll lose out on some features that come with the Slim Pen 2. I've also noticed a bit more wobble to the line using the older pen.

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes that's the surface dial. I honestly use it as a quick way to access the undo button. Most of the time when drawing with the SLS2 closed you lose the shortcuts and the surface dial brings some of them back. Fits perfect for my flow of drawing.

      The Mac definitely has better battery life. I get about 5 hours on the SLS2. I just enjoy the hybrid form of the SLS2 for art purposes.

      Edit: I'll get the surface pro 9 since I already have a laptop and just want an all in one art tablet like an alternative mobilestudio pro. Thanks for answering my questions though.

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  8 месяцев назад +1

      The pro 9 is a solid choice as well. The biggest thing when it comes to the laptop studio in my opinion is the option for more power. The RTX version have Nvidia's graphics meaning extra power to run task like heavy photoshop or even blender. The pro 9 is what I would go for if I didn't want the better speeds from the RTX Laptop Studios. @@midollafun

    I have the SLS1. Agreed it is best if you need Windows apps and a pen display that is portable. To make it "perfect" it would need to be lighter. It really is a laptop first before a tablet. Too heavy and hot for drawing in your hands or in your lap.

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  10 месяцев назад +2

      I completely agree with you. It would be fantastic if the Surface Pro 10 were optimized for touch interaction and had a touch-first interface. It would require a group effort to optimize the Windows 12 operating system for this purpose. A larger version of the Surface Pro would also be a great addition.

    This is basically an upgrade to a device that fills a specific niche.
    I mainly bought it because...
    1. I engage in graphics arts that's very drawing heavy.
    2. It's more powerful and can run more programs than any tablet.
    3. It's relatively portable.
    4. Seems to be receptive to the influx of AI that's honestly going to bombard the arts.
    5. It's likely the last SLS they're going to do, so I'll probably be using this for years to come. I broke down and bought the 4070 version because I don’t plan on buying anything else, after this one.

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  10 месяцев назад +2

      The Laptop Studio 2 is such a unique piece of hardware. I feel like Microsoft is so close to pricing themselves out of the small niche they do have. I really don't want this to be the last of it's kind from Microsoft. I'm hoping they'd push the Surface Pro harder than before if they decide to slim down the Surface lineup.

      do you notice trails and ghosting on yours? When I watch youtube on darkmode, all the text gets blurry and has trails behind it when I scroll, and even in videos, say when someone moves their hand quickly, you see trails behind their hands, or like frames of where their hand was before but faded. when I watch on my phone or desktop PC, I don't see this. I splurged on the 4060 version too, but why does my screen look so bad when there's movement on it, especially on dark backgrounds. Is it like that for you too?

    • @C.Wilson
      @C.Wilson  9 месяцев назад

      @KjKase This actually doesn't happen on mine. Do you enable HDR or have brightness at a certain level when you notice this? Recently watched the new Ninja Turtles movies on the SLS2 which contains fairly dark scenes and no ghosting.

      @@danteuss88 That's the biggest headache for the Laptop Studio 2. All in all the Pro 11 with the new flex keyboard is the way to go. If they made a bigger version or brought back the Surface Book with a removable keyboard that becomes Bluetooth when detached.
