Hi, i just want to know if I can use a part of the video to use for a missionary to thailand video. Just part showing culture and tradition of thailand? Thanks for those who can answer
A lot of Thai culture was influenced by neighboring countries and Buddhism. Since the beginning of Siam, we were just a kingdom (not a country, not a state yet), we shared a lot of culture with neighboring kingdoms so that's why Laos, Cambodia and Thailand have a lot in common and it's best not to claim who is the true originator of those culture since they are Buddhism(and Hinduism)-based culture country.
Da Phetdala I think you misunderstanding the different between Thai and Tai. Tai is the tribe and they are live in northern of Thailand and many part of this region including Myanmar Laos Vietnam even in Cambodia but they call themselves in different or sub-tribe such as Tai-Yai ,Tai-dum etc. But they never call themselves Lao. In the past Chinese call people live in the Chaopraya River area or Thailand now as Sian or Siam not Lao as well. And we call our country as Siam before changed to Thailand because we need to unite our country after WWII and we call our people who live in Thailand as Thai. Thai does not mean Tai even we have Tai peple here. Therefore Thai can't be Laos as you mention above as well.
Some people are so fortunate to be able to travel to places like Thailand with "financial ease" and experience things that many can only read about, hear about, or see on television. Don't take such fortune for granted.😉
fising nets are same and thats how we use to grind rice and many things look very similar to my place am from Assam north east India we have decendents of tai originis or you can say our ancestors migrated from thailand centuries ago but never thought that so may things would look same and familier

Much of what you consider to be Thai cultural heritage can be traced back to the Angkorian era - so yes, that aspect of Thai culture is a shared cultural heritage that Khmers lay “claim” to - it is a understanding by both the Khmers as well as academia. The way you’ve stated that it is your culture is a great example of cultural appropriation and is similar to “stealing” in a way.
