Like you mentioned the pull rates themselves play a big part in the prices, for example the PSA 10 magicarp in english only 1700ish exist, but the japanese version has over 27,000 that exist. There's no way that a card with over 27k population in mint condition would rise in price that much.
The biggest mystery here is why people are paying these prices for the English cards when you pick them up for a fraction of the price in Japanese. Just bananas! 🍌 😂
I fully agree with your reasoning. Plus about the groudon i always said that sooner or later it will have the same trajectory as the magikarp from PE . The only nostalgic legendary . illustration rare of the set. hard to get a 10. below 2k pop. or maybe its just me and my silly thoughts.. time will tell.
the economy actually makes a difference too. For the same reason food/rent are different between USA cities, you can apply it between two different countries/average salaries.
The currency strength is another factor to consider. The USD is a much stronger currency that Japanese yen. 1000 yen, which is what that Groudon card goes for in Japan, equals 6.33 usd. Talk about a screaming deal.
Thanks for doing this. You've put together a very solid video refuting that nonsense. The two markets are completely different like you said. Sometimes you can't make sense of things and that's okay.
Wossy thinks everything is overpriced lol. He says it about almost every chase card in every set. And he’s right, for a piece of cardboard they are overpriced. But for Pokémon collectors they aren’t 😅
It really comes down to the fact that a Japanese box is about 1/3 or 1/4 the msrp of an English box, so all the illustration rares are soooo much cheaper to get then English. I do think the magikarp is overpriced. It’s the same pull rates as a trainer gallery card and None of those are over 60 bucks. 60 bucks or around there seems fair for these secondary kind of hits. Magikarp is just fomo run away with itself.
I hear him and it does sound like he is frustrated. But I will say garchomp price vs groudon price is a little confusing. The English market is a bizarre one. Buy what you like and don't wait too long. Also the Japanese market is looking kinda flat, would be a good time to grab some of those expensive English AR in Japanese. GL to you all. 🫡

I agree if you are just wanting the cards for the art. Japanese is the way to go. If you want to buy to invest, English 100%
On that note, check out Korean. If you can't read either language, they pretty much look the same lol
That’s actually a good point. For those who love the art, they should just buy the cheapest language (not sure if that’s Korean or another language)
Because normally they're more valuable due to demand of English speakers.
I personally just want to be able to read what I collect, definitely willing to pay the premium if its good art + native tongue

Ceruledge is loved in the TCG right now by players. Tons of people play Ceruledge decks. If all the players want it of course it costs more.
The explanation is demand, not just "pumping".

Yeah I like watching this guys videos but I definitely had some words to say about this take haha
It's easier to fool the person than to convince them that they've been fooled

For some random reason charizard is the most expensive holo in base set... smh
