It's sad that most of the people of my generation that doesn't know Lynyrd Skynyrd by name but you mention this song they know who you're talking about. It's sad I'm only only 27 and I love the original band and will never forget what happened on 10/20/1977.

The original band lost "only" (i know was a tragedy but only to clarify) three members, singer, one guitarist and a chorister. The other original members decided to not go after the Reunion tour. The original drummer, original bassist and guitarists go away or kicked out from this band years later the Reunion tour. Even who invented the Sweet home Alabama riff Ed King was still alive until some years ago but no longer with Skynyrd due his heart problem.

I just got to see Lynard Skynard live this summer. And they were absolutely amazing. I loved the tribute when they played this song. Now I need to see Brantley Gilbert.
