I realized I haven't made a slide show in forever so...here one is!haha
Pictures where all taken the past couple of weeks.
Surrounded by a mighty sea, there's an island dear to me,
Described by some a place of rock and sand;
But so many a man has found when the world has turned him down,
There's no price tag on the doors in Newfoundland.
There's a welcome on the breeze blowin' inland from the seas,
That some folks find hard to understand;
But it's just to let you know, that no matter where you go,
There's no price tag on the doors in Newfoundland.
Raise your glass and drink with me to that island in the sea,
Where friendship is a word they understand;
You will never be alone when you're in a Newfie's home,
There's no price tag on the doors in Newfoundland.
There will always be a chair at the table for you there,
They will share what they have with any man;
You don't have to worry, friend, if your pocket book is thin,
There's no price tag on the doors in Newfoundland.
Raise your glass and drink with me to that island in the sea,
Where friendship is a word they understand;
You will never be alone when you're in a Newfie's home,
There's no price tag on the doors in Newfoundland.
There's no price tag on the doors in Newfoundland.

The best Newfie Singer ever. Thank for your service. Rest In Peace Roy.
I remember about 50 years ago banging out some tunes with a newfy at a party. One of the songs he came up with was one called "There ain't no locks on the doors in newfoundland". Sounded a lot like this one. I'm still a fan of newfy music to this day. I do enjoy people who know how to party. I don't think I ever met a newfy that I really disliked and I met an awful lot that I did like. Happy New Year to all the newfies!
I was 6 years old when I frist heard him back home...and learned his songs from mom....the best for me was....playing with him at the pride of Erin. ..ur the best roy...Jamie says hi......
Yes I meet Roy in mattawa about 10 years ago and every weekend he used it to come to my back yard for drinks and bonfire and music and when I left mattawa I gave him a good feed of turrs and salt fish I haven't seen him since hope he is doing ok
I couldn't agree more with the words of this song , I was a young G.I. stationed at Harmon from 1960 til 1962 and the time that I spent in the Newfie house parties was the best time of the tour . Lord tunderin jesus them was good times.
you are welcome. I can speak Canadian really well because I was born about 450 miles northwest of Toronto. (er, on southern shores at Marquette :)
Whenever I am back there, I get into the dialectal swing right away.
I am playing record album today. Miss my dad. Love Newfoundland
To my "Newfie Family"back home...Missin ya darly
I worked in Vancouver for 30 years, as is inevitable, being a Bluenoser, I had a few Newfoundland friends, we watched NTV for sure and it switched off at 1:30 AM NL time, (9:30 out there), we'd switch it on to play cards, because they played videos of Newfoundland tunes, instead of the test signal, until early morning. This version was there.
He lives in Mattawa Ont, a small town in the hills on the Ottawa River, an hour east of North bay, there's about 2,500 people there, and he still jams with the locals at McCools bar once every 2nd sunday. I'm in there every now and then, but yet to Jam with him.
Cool song, I just wish it was longer. I hope to check out Nfld. sometime in the near future. Cheers.
Thanks!New-fun-land is right, but the way we say it its more New-fin-land then anything, calling it New-fin-lind or New-fun-lind just makes us laugh haha. I think in the song it was just New-found-land sounded better.
great song , nice n lively
thanks
I always thought it was pronounced new fun land but it really is new found land?
I liked the old boats. Reminded me of fishing boats on Lake Superior at Shelter Bay. About 29 of them in late 40s. We'd go down to the dock and buy a bit of a lake trout. Nice song :)
So true, when I go home I have to lose 15 lbs before I go because if I go to visit 5 different relatives in one day, I eat 5 big meals (and Uncle Gerald's Slush puts me on me arse) lol
Can't describe how much I miss nf 💙 #loveya
"New found Land" just fits the tune of the song better, but Roy has never become Torontoized nor will he ever!
good singing great song
Why yes we do ROCK!!!

Fantastic!
Thanks!Glad you like it.
He's my grandpa, and yea he's in Mattawa. He's still working on his book and sings often I believe. He's doing well still, he really enjoys being where he is.
Does anyone remember "grandpa and kids"??
I'm that dorky akward kid at the end haha
