Call me dumb, but I always imagined Goths listening to something like church organ music and all dark and eerie stuff. I am not seriously into the scene, but from what I have experienced, Goth music is pretty much dance music! I mean, its dark and heavy, but the phat bass and solid tempo are for moving your leather-clad booty.

Then I was a Funeral Director/Embalmer and I got ill, and injured discs in my back and neck, etc. Loved that job so very much helping people Iived for it. My body gave out. Occultic? if you mean esoterics, paganism and occultism: that's not typically a Goth thing, more an individual one. Some people are into this stuff, many are not. Sometimes vaguely "occultic" shit gets worked into the fashion but I find it honestly cringy and would never that. You can enjoy the music and fashion without ever liking that stuff.
Like shadows cast in the night, veils of rain obscuring the city streets, or clouds drifting past the moon in Autumn, let this music help me embrace beautiful despair.

Exactly. People who don't listen to the music think it's gloomy when I'd say it's deep, thrilling... and romantic. It stirs the imagination in ways no other music can (for me at least).
ive had people at my private school ask me if im goth because i wear so much eyeliner and jewelery and all i had to respond with was "no not really because i dont listen to goth music",,, and i got curious because i had never heard goth music really... this is actually great. probably not something i would listen to regularly but its cool.
