    @elthwar 7 дней назад +6

I think this is one of the most fascinating and probably extreme forms of parasitism I've heard of, so kudos for making the Deep Ones feel particularly unnerving. Though these ones probably have no particular interest in humans unless approached first.
As for ideas, I've found the questing beast from Arthurian legends a lesser-known but interesting chimera. It was a beast with the head of a snake, the body of a leopard, the launches of a lion, and the feet of a deer. It was the subject of multiple failed quests to capture it before finally being captured after Palamedes, Percival, and Galahad chased it into a lake.

Thank you very much for the video. The fish-man is one of my favorite classic monsters.
I like the idea that the deep ones are a super species of frog adapted to salt water.
Well, unlike the Mermaids/Mermen, the Deep-ones or Gillmen have legs and fish faces.
And while it still seems too unlikely to me that they were bipedal, I liked that in your concept they were mainly quadrupedal (as even Lovercraft describes them).
As for their reproduction, because it seemed too fantastical to me, I prefer to say that it is just a myth created by the fear they generate (many real animals have myths assigned to them).

When i looked up more information about the Nian I've thought of something interesting matching some of its descriptions:
    - having prominent incisors
    - fear of the color red
    - earliest recorded accounts being from the early 20th century
It got me thinking of a carnivorous marsupial like a pouch lion (thylacoleo) that ended up in China.
    - they relied on sharp incisors to pierce flesh rather than canines
    - most placental mammals can't see the color red, but marsupials can
    - it's habitat preferences being the mountains or the sea could refer to either how it got to China from Australia, or it's been recently migrating to lower ground from millennia of living in the mountains. Which would make it an invasive species either way.

Though I know very little about Lovecraftian lore I am pleased to see such a uh….fascinating animal be covered on the channel. I was unaware of how such beings worked and I would like to see more Lovecraft on the channel such a Nyarothalep (I think that’s how you spell it) and I can’t wait for what is to come next in the closure of 2024.
Today I would like to present an idea for a short episode: El Gran Maja!
As we explore deeper and deeper into earth’s oceans more and more, many a horror can be unearthed. Such as a creature found off the coast of the Caribbean, deep in the Atlantic. It has been rarely spotted with only a couple of sightings during the 16th century onwards. The people who saw it named it “El Gran Maja” or “The Great Maza” due to its colossal size, even bigger than the Blue Whale. Very little was known about it until recently and up until now it was only considered an urban legend. El Gran Maja is an unusually massive species of siphonophore measuring about 40 meters in length though it is incredibly thick for this kind of animal. Despite its cnidarian heritage it resembles more so a massive eel with a large grinning face. This “jaw” is large as to help it ingest massive quantities of food through suction and trapping them in large stiffened tendrils that resemble teeth. These siphonophores have six organs in the head that seem to act as eyes in their dark environment, observing anything that may cross their path. El Gran Maja usually hunt by sensing large quantities of organic material through the release of loud low frequency sounds similar to The Bloop or Julia. Once they detect food they quickly rise up in the sea to the surface to quickly gulp down whatever is there by expelling large amounts of water from behind. This raises buoyancy and lets them get to the surface before quickly intaking water and descending below once again. These animals have been known to prey upon anything that they can sense from entire schools of fish to some species of whale and large sharks. They have been known to live for decades with the oldest reaching at least a couple centuries due to their slow metabolism taking ages to digest food. So far incredibly little has been discovered about these marvellous predators but that might hopefully change soon with the advent of deep sea diving equipment in the modern era.
See you next week and Happy Halloween!

I've asked for you to do Pom Pom from Honkai Star Rail before, but allow me to elaborate by asking these:
    - since Pom Pom is a conductor of the Astral Express (a train that flies through space), what animals or traits of animals that are comfortable on large moving vehicles such as planes, trains, and/or boats, and what services can they provide besides what we know guard dogs can do?
    - while Pom Pom greatly resembles a rabbit, he has forward facing eyes. Would it be more likely for his kind to be omnivores or simply herbivores like mytragus goats that had no predators where they're from?
    - since the goals of those who reside on the Astral Express itself align with exploring and connecting [worlds], it makes you wonder how Pom Pom's home or "world" became associated with them.

Somewhat relevant is my idea of individuals of different but similar enough species to actively interbreed to produce mixed offspring.
I was told by renouned enthusiasts such as Keenan Taylor that such a behavior would be rare and unintentional.
But if an animal were to do it on purpose what are some prerequisites to doing so?
And you know how members of ring species collections can only interbreed with certain lines? What if there's a "finger" lineage that can copulate with any member of the ring lines?

Incredible video and I must say this sure was an amazing way to cap off the season of spooks though on that note, have you thought about at any point covering arguably one of the most reviled and horrifying creations of the early Internet given how you’ve already covered two creatures quite heavily linked to it. A beast made all the more horrifying by the fact that it’s mere mention under this new kind of light may attract the attention of a beast far more repugnant and horrific given how it would be likely perceived in a light that feeds into some of its more memorable delusions like fresh fuel to a fire, I am of course talking about Sonichu. In all seriousness I do feel that Sonichu would make for a great April fools episode given how you’ve already covered a joke rendition of Pikachu for one already and for a more serious Halloween suggestion given the topic of this video have you thought about potentially covering the color from out of space as I do feel like it could work as a collection of extraterrestrial extremophiles and from there it could be fun to explore how and why it alters the local ecosystem either by destroying and or mutating any technically living thing it touches.
