Haven’t done dots on rocks yet but learned best if I don’t actually touch the surface with the tip of pointer 🤗!
Get very close & just let the acrylic “mix” & did it with these gel pens that are very good (Sakura) but like using real acrylics & ty as have a lot to learn on this surface! Do wood & canvas but rocks are porous also so should use black w gesso or any color first base?
Never done one any rounded surface & you do it so well 😍!

If you have a super porous rock then sometimes it is hard to get perfect dots. It can sink into the divits. You can look for a smoother rock to try on. I know some people will use wood putty on thier rocks to smooth them out, but I have never gone that far :)

I use three knobby rubber soap holders ( purchased at walmart a few yrs ago also)they are clear and semi round and I put my rocks on them they dont wobble due to the knobs and then I have a round piece of card board I cut and trace off from a pizza box to fit the top of the wilton( turnstile cake decorating stand ) then I can put my cap on the Wilton cake stand on top of the cardboard and I can just turn as I need to sometimes I can do I can do three stones as once and I have a place to dot off on cardboard if I add to much to my tool ,actually the cardboard is so pretty with all the dots it's like a multicolored area..lol its tall to I dont have to hunch overall...totally setup $15 for pizza $20 for wilton stand 6$ for the soap nobby rubbery dish... which I also purchased thru walmart.,about 3yrs ago...maybe this set up can help you, ...many art blessings just subscribed to your channel greatvideas you have....mikelle art mom🎨✍👩‍🎨

    🙋‍♀️ Hello my friend!
    I also love this rock.
    It looks so amazing.
    😍 I'm so in Love.
I must try this one also.
The problem is, I have still no Dotting Tools. LOL. But I think, I can also take a round eraser from a pencil.
Stay healthy and take care of yourself!
Many greetings and a big hug from
    🇩🇪 Germany 🙋‍♀️✌️😘

Yes erasers work great! You can sharpen the eraser a bit too to make a smaller size. Pencil tip for the smallest dots :)

I used the big brush method in this post on it - rockpainting101.com/blending-paints-on-rocks/

Hey there... you make this look so easy. If I can send a Pic, could you tell me what to do to fix the problem of dots running together and seem different sizes even though same size. Plus now I need to cover my line somehow?

Thanks for beginners comments, like don’t touch the bottom of gen getting or placing the dots. Also yours look so pretty and mine are always pointy. 🤢

    • @RockPainting101
      @RockPainting101  4 года назад +3

If yours are pointy you paint is a bit too thick. Try adding a little bit of water to your paint. (Start with a drop)
