I don't think there is a more underrated musician on this planet than Ed Roland.
Collective Soul came into my life at a time I needed a friend when I felt most alone. Thank you.
I felt the same way about the smashing pumpkins in 94'
The amount of times I have watched this in the last four years... Thank you.
He's got a great sense of humor too... one cool and humble dude! One of the best singer/songwriter and front man of a band in the 90s...
Man he sounds fucking good after all these years!! He never stopped!! Kept jamming all these years..... a real trooper!!👍💯
he’s my cousin, i never met him but my dad said he used to go to all of our family reunions. his voice is amazing!
That’s wild! I would reach out to this guy if he was my cousin. I’m sure it’s nothing personal why he doesn’t go to family reunions anymore, but you never know...
@@lostz2754 yeah my dads side of the family has a bad reputation and most of the people who attended the reunions have passed away so i don’t think they have them anymore. i would love to reach out but i’m not sure how lol
@@lanieroland807Well, it was cool of you to reply. Just curious do you play any music?
@@lanieroland807 Why not talk to his wife Michaeline Roland? She has an Instagram and Facebook account. Message her on there. She's on social media often. She follows me and I'm only a fan. Tell her how you're related to him and see if you can make an arrangement to meet his family. It should be pretty easy. At the very least, if you know where he lives, you could send him a card and give him your number or something and ask for a phone call.
Dang,thats cool
Couldnt agree more but ive been listening for maybe 20 years, i still like them
I'm 2 years younger than MR. Roland and liked Collective Soul back in the day. I also have studied music, music theory, chord construction and, composition since I started in grade school! My dad majored in music and always had classical music on when he was home. Overtime I've learned to play 7 instruments and I like Collective Soul more than ever now especially on acoustic guitar and have great respect for Ed because I play guitar and I never was able to write music, believe me I have tried! He has used some beautiful sounding progressions against some melodies that I love! Thanks, you're Great!
Can't touch this. Collective Soul is so so underrated.
Man Ed Roland still sounds as good as he did in the 90’s. F*cking amazing.

Thank you for time stamping the songs. Makes for a really nice playlist ;)
Ed is so good here!😁👍
He's got such a unique voice with strength and tone like no one else!😎
Your music got me thru a lot of bad times. My sister died in 2008 n then my husband in 2010 from cancer both were 55. Only family I had left. The music helped get thru those times and still today it's always my go too music when I need an angel by me
That moment when you realize Ed is the most underrated songwriter, musician and front man on earth. Just kidding. I knew that was a fact a long time ago. But DAMN! He's an angel here, like always!
What He said..... 100%
Agreed...collective soul and him are extremely underrated. If you listen to those early albums especially, the lyrics and the riffs are so good. So timeless. They deserve a damn Grammy, hall of fame status, all of it. Truly!
@@MuzeFuze1 I'm a girl haha, but yeah!
From this performance, Ed Roland could craft his career moving forward, using this performance as Template.
Ed Roland clearly at His Best.
His outfit, cowboy hat, glasses, very polished, his guitar strumming is even and consistent, moving everything forward. His singing is emotional and ringing with feeling.
All the songs are well performed and I am listening over and over.
Great Job Ed.
What an awesome interview.
December is an epic masterpiece... the way it sounds played full with the layering was a genius move
I love his voice, opened his home, sang songstook my mind into music b y letting go along with the music. This tunes are beautiful.
Best concert of my life...
The stars and moon aligned with my youth.. such a beautiful night.
.My favorite voice
Still sounding amazing all these yrs later. Song takes me back and great memories.
Bought tickets a couple of years ago. Listened to their greatest hits prior to the gig and suddenly realized how much their music had influenced us when we were in our twenties.
Thanks for doing this interview. The gig in MN was great. Would go to see them again in a heartbeat.
My dad put a guitar in my hands at age 5 and now I'm in my 60's and played with and toured with a great bunch of musicians and I have to say that this whole video truly tells the story. Being a so so guitarist I agree with the fact that it's
not being able to nor necessary to be a guitarist who can riff and shred the strings, it's about the rhythm of the guitar and being able to carry that thru out the song. This video proves my point and Ed Roland shows how simple it is. This is absolutely an artist who proves it without a doubt....
@Just J 99% of all players in bands start off performing covers and we all steal from each other. If it weren't for players like James Burton :: etc then there would have been a lot of people who missed the bus my friend. Singer/songwriters/players we all strive to be but this is a cut throat business even more so today than back when I 1st. step on stage or in a studio. Thanks for your input ...
Rick Burnette Songwriting is about vocal lines (melody), instrumentation (in this case guitar), and ofcourse lyrics. Its not about being a virtuouso, although some gifted people can do both. Most gifted songwriters are able to ensemble specialized players (lead) but it only holds water if the songs are strong.
It never gets old.....the songs really sound better here! What a voice!! Love their music....best band of the 90's hands down!! Great talented songwriter Mr. Roland rules the 90's! Not Nirvana! Great job!! SHINE almost made me 😢 cry! Touched my inner soul!!
Best band of the 90s was Built to Spill
Soooooo good, good music never gets ol or dies, very great job Ed
24:20 "We're such a unit now, this band... If I could go back in time and start a band, it'd be THIS band. I wanna be a part of these guys, not only for musically, but in their life, and I want them a part of my life... it's THAT special to me, and I think it's that special to them...
25:20 ... there's no ego..."
I saw them two nights ago in San Diego (08/24/22), and the sentiment of THIS portion of the interview here was so evident! They operate like a healthy family, and the love and joy of that bleeds out onto the stage and in their performance...
So humble in their talent and excellence... so inspiring to follow and watch...
Fantastic........ Simply Fantastic....... Wonderful guitar and vocals...... Thanks..
I play Collective Soul almost every single day, their music has been part of my life for almost 30 years now. To hear them play live, in person is on my bucket list along with the Black Crows, Rocco DeLuca and the Burden, and Ian Moore(again). Hearing music from these artists proves that God exists. How else could you explain the voices behind the lyrics so powerful that it moves your soul into energy strong enough to make you believe…. Thank you. - peace Brothers
Well said, Brother.
Observation of Thoughts ---Amazing! Ed is simply terrific.
Love how it was done ✅
Ed Roland is simply one of the greatest creators of melodies, riffs and lyrics of any music genre.
Omg Ed Roland so damn funny right off the bat
Such a fantastic time.... I remember seeing collective soul 3 different times they always put on a great show fantastic music
Met Ed and their drummer outside my resident gig on Bourbon St back in 2008 or so. Our singer called Gel so we played it for them and I was thinking get Ed up here to sing it but he didn't but had a lot of nice things to say about our band afterwards as we talked outside. Really genuine guy and amazing talent. Couldn't get enough of them in the 90s and still loving their stuff. This was a great video.
This is impressive. The whole package. Songs, interview, the suit. I mean the guitar sound is even one of the best plugs for Martin I’ve ever heard. That’s resonance.
I was at Morehead State back in 1994 when Collective Soul first played "The World I Know" live. Ed said it was something they were working on and they wanted to see how it went over live!
This music is incredible!! And....his suit is awesome!! Would love to get one of those
I love what your doing! The music, the artist and the story! Thank you for all you do!
Well produced show. Outstanding performance and acoustics there too.
My absolute favourite artist and band. Amazing!!!
What an amazing rendition of Shine!
Hi Maria had me subscribe she sold me with Ed Roland my generation. But never heard him sing so passionately until this show. Thank you look forward to watching more
Ed's on fire in these performances! Great interview as well! Thanks
Thank you Adam for bringing us this ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is gold. Thanks for doing it! I just watched the one with the band before this. It's so amazing to me that the single acoustic sounds just as impressive. And the new song I just heard is just as good as these old ones!! Keep 'em coming fellows!
I’m simply awestruck every time you are visible, especially when you are singing
Freaking awesome!
Always supremely delivered ❤
I love your work at the print shop!
What an enjoyable performance!! 🥰
"Shine"...one of THE greatest Christian-rock songs ever written and performed!!!😎👍🕇❤
It’s actually about heroin

Love is in the water
Love is in the air
Show me where to look

Shine on me
Its gonna shine on
Well come on and shine
You must be ON heroin to actually believe that "Shine" is about herion!!!🙃
@@iggypopisgod9 The song is open for opinion but to me I think he's asking God to show him the way....
iggypopisgod9 He just literally said before singing, let’s go to church. The world is always trying to detract what light that does get shown through artists and their faith.
@David Christ Thank You, Reverend!🙃
I paid for a meet & greet in Baltimore for my GF's 50th birthday..The band was one of the things that brought us together..
I bought a rare bootleg Tshirt depicting the Dosage album cover on the front..Ed asked me where I bought it knowing it wasnt an official product..I stumbled saying I bought it yrs ago..we had front row seats..Ed introduced the nxt song saying it was their very first recorded song (Gel)..He pointed directly at my and asked me what the title was.. I froze in disbelief...I knew it, but my brain just shutdown..Ed, Just to let you..I did buy a bootleg Tshirt..But repaid the band by attending over 20 performances..They get better ever time they perform..totally amazing and never disappointed..
Every chance I get..I pay extra to get front row seats..and I wear that shirt at every concert..No disrespect..just hoping Ed spots it
Wonderful!!!
2020 needed this so much. It brought back great memories. Subbed.
Saw Ed and the guys play at a church music festival many, many years, before they got a record deal
Wow! What an amazing performance. It doesn't get any better than that.
Should release these recordings on Spotify, some of my favorite acoustic versions of these tunes!

He moves his mouth so weird when he sings lol...love Ed and Collective Soul!!
The Vape hangs heavy in the air! in there lol 😮
I notice that the band always gets a thumbs down pretty quickly on their videos. and while it could be someone who holds hate in their heart for them. I like to believe the band hits the thumbs down button right out the gate to get the hate out of the way.
Thats didn't even make any sense, lol
Oh shit. I’m old.
Wow!!!!!!!!!
You related to my friends Rollins ...they are great friends funny and talents as you have they possess
I’ve never heard of your program before this show but it was excellent. I’ve worked in both music and film production all my life and (not only was Ed an awesome guest) but your entire production team was spot on. Cameras, editing, lighting, grip work, interviewer, mic selection and audio, quality of questions, the outtakes, the humor, staging, making the artist feel relaxed.....all of it. Great work. Can’t wait until I see some of your other presentations.
Thanks Trey..! Your comments are much appreciated. So glad you dig it. Coming straight from my heart. Peace.. Adam
