    I’ve always race prepped my bike a little more due to experience. Here’s the list.. bark buster hand guards, safety wire grips, front rotor guard, rear brake fin, skid plate, devol radiator guards, exhaust pipe guard and a brake snake for the rear brake petal. I found all of these items beneficial in helping me finish hare scramble races in MS, AL and TN. I’ve done this to every bike I’ve had since 1995.

    Hey Kyle, watching a video you did and a few others mounting this skid plate I seen how people would fuss to install them. "This is for the XC, TX models" When I got my TX300 I knew how to install it with ezz. Put a strap through the back wheel and up over the back of the seat and tighten it down to compress the rear shock, in return it lifts the linage to slip the skideplate on the back of the frame and on. Works like a charm!

    I have one of these on my 2018 KTM 300. The orange color matches the plastic really well. I purchased the mid level coverage 5mm unit without the linkage guard. The protection is fantastic. My only complaint is that I catch my right toe with my size 11 boots on the water pump wrap around portion. I cut about 7mm of plastic away from that area and used a soldering iron to clean up the cut. Looks like I never touched it now and I don't catch my toe anymore. Mounting was no problem, comes with all the hardware you need and changing the oil is no problem. This was my first AXP. I will use them again. It is stronger and better that the Acerbis that I had on my last 300xc.

    Have the AXP w/ linkage guard on my 18 TE250. I use The Tokyo off-road kit to change the oil so there is no need to take the skidplate off to change the oil. Mine is beat up on the bottom from rocks but has held up well. I echo Kyles recommendation on this product.

    The whole plastic vs metal skid plate really depends on where ur riding I think. Here in PA the rocks are brutal, nothing but rocks really. N I've cracked a couple plastic skid plates right in half. I've bent aluminium ones too, but if rather have my plate bend a little then crack completely. N as for the weight, its not that much heavier n it sits so low on the bike that it doesn't really matter.

    On your Triple clamp on the 2019 250 XC you only two positions to set your handlebar at. Forward or OEM Stock position up front as it is. What have you done to give your more room in the Cockpit for riding? I have a 2019 KTM 300XC and I Tooooo am amazed {to spend more money} that the 2019 you can only turn the SADDLE for the handlebars 180 degree's to move it forward so it sits almost over the fork tubes. You and I are about the same build and arm length . But I have hair. Do you have a Video on this? Or go the XTrig route and get more adjustablility?

    Hey Kyle, I was trying to see if there was a possibility of a plastic conversion from the ‘18 models to the new 2019 models, now everything I’ve seen so far it looks like if you swap out the gas tanks and the seat it should be pretty good to go with just those changes, wondering to see if you could help me confirm that by looking at the bolt placements from the ‘18 300 to the new ‘19 250. Thank you and keep up the killer videos

      Radiator is lower so the bolts are in different location, the seat is different with just one bolt, the subframe is different too, so i am gonna bet you will need a lot of modification to achieve that.

Is there any chance or any experience you have with linkage guards effecting your rear suspension? I have one without a linkage guard that came with my sherco, I'm definitely considering getting the one with a linkage guard for that added protection, I've also noticed you don't often run a pipe guard why is that?

    • @SkinnySkinch
      @SkinnySkinch 5 лет назад +5

      Pipe guard defeats the purpose of what the pipe was designed to do. The protect your pipe from getting dented. The purpose of the pipe is to dent so all of the force of the impact isn't completely transferred into your exhaust flange. The flange and in some cases the actual cylinder cracks from hard crashes when you run a pipe guard. Depending on your riding style the pipe guards can be nice. If you aren't balls to the wall with some really hard crashes then you're probably fine running a pipe guard. I didn't know any better and listened to some video online when I bought my 300 TPI this summer. it was fine all summer until I did an extreme enduro. Battle of the GOATS in NC. I laid my bike down so many times that the stock pipe actually got pushed in so far that it was touching a bolt on the side of my engine case. That bolt head literally put a HOLE on the inside of my pipe. I'll never run a pipe guard again. Let the pipe dent, blow the dents out if you're on a budget or buy a new pipe once a season if you're not. My opinions of course but that's what I'll do from here on out

    • @andrejskamla9736
      @andrejskamla9736 5 лет назад +2

      @@SkinnySkinch But those metal skid plates and pipe guards are amazing. I used to run my 300rr without any pipe protection, but it was so easy to dent the pipe. Now I use ptech skid plate with pipe guard in one. Amazing products. When you hit a rock, the pipe guard will not even touch the pipe. I recomend those. Of course it is not worth buying those carbon pipe guards

    • @SkinnySkinch
      @SkinnySkinch 5 лет назад

      Enduro Fools yeah those guards you’re referring to are absolutely good products and for the exact reason you mentioned it doesn’t actually touch the pipe. I may try one, one day.. are they very heavy?

    • @andrejskamla9736
      @andrejskamla9736 5 лет назад +1

      @@SkinnySkinch They are not that heavy. Mine is 1.7kg. I don't really feel it on the bike. I thought it will resonate a lot, but it doesn't.

    • @SkinnySkinch
      @SkinnySkinch 5 лет назад

      What brand do you have? I wish they made a really light plastic composite style one. I would buy that. I don't like adding weight to my bike but I also don't like spending $200 on a new pipe every season lol. only 30 hours on my 2019 TPI 300 and already on my second pipe.

The parts manager refused to stock anything I asked to have brought in and continued to order the same shit parts that sat on the shelf for years at a time, frustrating to put it lightly. he refused to stock quality parts and gear that people want to buy, it made making sales that I made my pay check from much more difficult. Either having customers leave pissed or having to wait for a week or more for the parts to arrive. It made me resent Dirtbike’s for awhile. A big fat F*ck you to that place I’ll drive two hours one way to get my parts before I spend my money at any store they own...

    Very difficult installation, brackets don’t fit between the motor and chassis for my 15-KTM. Either a bad design, or I received aluminum brackets that are too thick. The very front part of the skid plate I had to pry to bendthe bolt holes to line up. Very cunty install. As for removing the skid plate with ease for an oil change, forget it! I have another friend that has one on his 19-KTM and his biggest complaint is the wing part obstructs his boot on the brake side. He’s had some scary oh-shit moments. Nice part but they need to address a few things. My favorite skid plate is still the EE skid plate.
