This is Side Scrollers, the #1 video game podcast on planet Earth.
I was a child when Mel Blanc, the voice of practically every Looney Tunes character, died. I still tear up at the memory of seeing a picture someone drew of a lone microphone stand in a spotlight with all the characters he voiced standing with their heads bowed in memorial.
Razorfist is always entertaining. Have him back more often.
He’s there every Monday.
He’s weekly
On his channel, yeah, but seeing him on these podcasts shows him in a rather unflattering light. Perry wasn't on the list. He wasn't on the black book or the flight logs. Razor was 100% wrong about that but can't admit it bc of his fat fcking head and overblown ego. The last time Perry was in the media was when he was talking about his colon exploding from opiod induced constipation
Robin Williams and Leslie Nielsen's deaths hit me hard and even though i wasnt alive when this happened but Peter Sellers hit me hard a bit as he was meant to do another Pink Panther film before his death
If you look at the aerial shots of Perrys house, the hot tub is small and is at the side of the large pool.
William's was particularly ugly. Leslie neilson had a nice long ride though.
John Candy hit me hard. I still remember hearing news of his death on the radio in the family car as we sat outside a donut shop. I was a young kid and mostly knew him from Home Alone and Uncle Buck and it made me real sad to hear he died. RIP
Oh yeah! John Candy hurt a lot. 😢
I was on the school bus and my friend said John Candy died yesterday. I remember hoping it was a weird joke. I ran home to put on the news and I was just crushed.
John Candy hit hard. I learned about his death on Channel 1 in school.
It was shocking because he was the picture of health.
@@knightsedge7379 only your goat thinks you're funny
One that hit me hard as a kid was Sam Kinison. Absolutely legendary comedian who had a lot of personal problems with drugs and alcohol. Then as he was finally getting better and kicking the substance abuse, he suddenly gets hit by a drunk driver. I was 10 years old when it happened and that hit me hard.
The moment of his death is a wild story too.
Same. I was 16 when it happened and my mom gave me the news. Lol
@@danielcraig9666 Yeah, he was talking to someone. I read that years later and got a wicked chill.
Muppets did okay in the 1990s. They truly hit rock bottom after that.
Richard Moll dying on the same day hit me harder, tbh. Heath Ledger, Brandon Lee, Robin Williams, all tragedies. Jim Henson, Bill Bixby.
He’s doing speedballs with Farley in heaven now.
Lol your mum is looking up at you PROUD.
@@Max-zv8hm I have no sympathy for one of Epstein’s clients.
The hardest celebrity death for me was Robin Williams.
I absolutely loved him in Disney's Aladdin, and he was in a number of other films I really liked (Flubber, Good Will Hunting, etc.)
It wasnt just the fact that he passed, but also the manner in which he did. Made for a sad few weeks as a junior in undergrad.
Blabbs not knowing who Jim Henson was is outright criminal.
drugs + alcohol = pass out. *Passing out in a hot tub is bad.
BOOSTED
Anyone remember that 1000 Ways to Die segment where the couple burned alive in their jacuzzi because they were too numb from drug use to notice that the thermostat had malfunctioned and it was just getting hotter and hotter? Literal frogs boiling in a pot.🐸🍲
Chris Cornell's suicide hit me deep. I tear up every time I listen to Blow Up the Outside World.
Same, man
For me, Chester Bennington's death rocked me to my core for a whole week's time. (I still remember flipping through TV channels that day, and ended up landing on TMZ live (of all TV shows (which I normally avoid watching) as it was literally just starting on Fox, when they broke the news about him dying; (and spent that whole episode talking about it).
It’s like dying Beatles.
Was supremely low odds on betting Chandler would be the first dead Friend.
Which Friend will be next is a more interesting question.
This happened to a friend's dad, he had a massive coronary and drowned in tub. It happens a lot sadly.
Both Lemmy from Motörhead and Alexi Laiho were announced dead on the 28th of December, I know it because that’s when my birthday is
He was in and out of rehab like a crazy game of whack-a-mole. It is sad that he didn't get help before ending his life in such a stupid way.
Rush Limbaugh death hit me hard
Chris Cornell "No one sings like that anymore"
The passing of Norm MacDonald was a rough one.
Died suddenly.
RIP
So... how bout dem jabby jabs?
If that psychology thing doesn't work out for Dr Jordan Peterson he would be an excellent choice for Kermit.
You can drown in 6 inches of water. He could've slipped and hit his head while getting out and got knocked out and drown. Fire didn't see a wound under his hair.
Not necessarily Kobe Bryant's death, but Kobe Bryant's autopsy report
The death that hit me the hardest was Lassie. Man, I cried like I've never cried before or since. Proper head down in the sofa balling my eyes out.
(I was like 6 or whatever)
Actual celeb deaths don't bother me tbh. Michael Jackson probably the biggest 'oh shit' moment. Also his life was pretty sad in many ways
Eddie Van Halen was a real bummer for me.
After my old man died shortly after, I don't give a rats ass when famous strangers croak.
Celebrity for me was first Michael Landon, cuz I was a kid and never thought actors or famous people died. Then without a doubt Kurt Cobain and Taylor Hawkins
Dale Earnhardt or Robin Williams
Probably had a stroke. happened to a coworker about a month ago. Loves his Newports, Red Bulls, alcohol, junk food, high stress, Long history of drug use, as well as worked at a hospital, so he couldn't be more In compliance either.
It's a pattern
Steve irwin died the way he lived... with animals in his heart
lol nice
Ouch.
Gotta be Mr. Rogers. No one did more good through media for a generation of children than he did. I'm 44. and I still tell the important people in my life "You make every day special, just by being the person that you are."
I still cry when I watch the documentary on him. Man was a truly good person who just wanted to help kids who needed it.
Damm. That's another one that hit me too.
@@cladiosanchez6865 There are almost no more people like him around anymore.
I generally shrug off celebrity deaths but Norm Macdonald hit me like a wrench to the back of the head. I spent the night after I found out crying and laughing at his weekend update material.
Norm wasn’t just funny, he was genuinely insightful. I didn’t even know he was sick.
Reminds me of that tragedy
Dude the 1-2 punch first Norm then Bob Saget....it was like comedy died
Wish we still had Norm!
Even some /pol/acks liked him truly based comedian REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeee
For me a celebrity death that hit me was Sir Christopher Lee's death years ago when I was 12 or 13 years old.
The man lived a very full life. We were lucky to have him as long as we did.
When it comes to Sir Lee i don't think you can say that he died, just that he finished living.
There's little the man hasn't done.
Yes he was a real star, his Saruman was epic!
I thought he was already dead until I saw him in Episode 3
What? I didn't know he died.
Honestly, Jim Henson's death hit me hard as a kid as well. Dark Crystal is my favorite movie of all time. The man was a genius, in my opinion.
Damm, you're right. I forgot about him dying.
It was such a miserable and avoidable death too. He got pneumonia and was too much of a workaholic to get treatment (working a Disney contract didn't help) and died of Toxic Shock Syndrome. Awful way to go for such a good guy.
there's a different story out there as well.@@joshuafischer684
For me the celebrity death that hit me the hardest was Alan Rickman's. He was so underrated and its was such a shame cancer took him from us
Norm Macdonald for me.
Alan Rickman was *not* underrated. Dunno how old you are, but Harry Potter was/still is enormously popular, and fans, young and old, sang his praises for his performance as Snape, as well as the antagonist of one of the top 3 action movies ever ("Not-Alive" Hard).
@@Poet482What I technically meant is I felt he didint get the recognition he deserved in HW as other celebs but of course thats not a serious thing, would of loved him to have a HW star though, I'm in my early 20s, but of course Hans Gruber is my favorite role from him no doubt.
@@drbubonic4942
I respect your comment being civil. I'm 29, and trust me, people (young girls, especially) were going nuts over the guy (both the character and the actor) back then. And I remember reading all the books after the Order of the Phoenix movie came out, and staying ahead of the movie release schedule from then-on. The whole "Snape kills Dumbledore" controversy was huge at the time come the 6th movie... which was funny to me because the movie never even acknowledged that Snape was the eponymous "Half-blood Prince."
Great memories, remembering all this stuff from when I was a kid. Thank you for reminding me.
Yes still mourn Alan! I’m sure when Clint Eastwood goes I’ll be very upset too.
Robin Williams is the worst for me, a close second has been Kevin Conroy
I think that, together with others like Robin Williams, he is an example of actual creative people getting destroyed by that horrible satanic machine called Hollywood. Aside from that, a lot of people his age are dying nowadays, it seems. RIP.
I think that people who unironically call things "Satanic" need to improve their vocabularies, grow up, and stop blaming the Devil for the actions of man.
@@AClockworkHellcat but the actions of man can be satanic. Referring to something as satanic is metaphorical
@@AClockworkHellcat What a grand and intoxicating innocence, young Nerevar.
Genie, I wish for your freedom.
@AClockworkHellcat theyre not blaming the devil, they are saying their actions are comparable to something a "devil" would do.
He was a huge Fallout 3 fan to the point of carpal tunnel like pain...He even talked about on TV. Thats why he got the vo gig on NV allegedly.
I liked Perry despite some of his strange outbursts.
He was probably the biggest gamer in Hollywood.
After Friends ended he spent so much time playing Fallout that he got RSI.
He was such a fan he ended up taking the role of Benny in Fallout New Vegas.
He literally was part of gaming history.
I forgot about that...what a guy. R.i.p.
Don't forget he literally asks (in character as Chandler) if people wanted to play DOOM on his laptop lol.
Oh and in a few episodes he was playing games (as Chandler) on Playstation like Crash Bandicoot xD. Dude was a legit gamer. Shame he didn't show up in games more often tbh.
Never knew that about him. Damn. New Vegas was THE fallout game for me. I spent the most time on that one. Pretty cool that Matthew Perry turned out to be such a big gamer that he did some voice acting in one of both our favorite games.
I lived through the Friends era; I understood the appeal but never was into it. "Chandler" was the only character I liked when I happen to watch an episode. Still liked Perry in "Almost Hero's" with Chris Farley.
@@WhopyStompy Yeah I only found out whilst stumbling through the credits because his performance is unrecognisable.
Absolute Kudos to Perry for a superb performance.
He had cardiac arrest before drowning
Norm MacDonald. I didn't even know he was sick.
Explain to the folks at home who Norm MacDonald is.
OJ got him too!
@@oz_jones Nah, it was the Clinton's. They've got no sense of humour. They used MK Ultra on Phil Hartman's wife, too. Made her kill him and then herself.
Frank Stallone
Worth mentioning is that he was a Vax Enthusiast, not joking. lol He was boosted to the max, so i wouldn't be surprised if his heart inflated a bit on his passing.
For me it was Bernie Mac. I had just started watching his show again on T.V when he passed. He is still one of the greatest comedians of all time.
Time for another playthrough of New Vegas again only this time I'll be nice to Benny.
God speed you chequered jacket wearing beautiful bastard.

She knows who Steve Irwin is but not who Jim Henson. Who is this?!😊

The celebrity death I found the saddest was Rik Mayall. Loved him in The Young Ones and Bottom such a talented physical actor. It's a shame he isn't as well known in the states he's more so known there for Drop Dead Fred. He was also supposed to play Peeves in Harry Potter
Rik Mayall kind of hit me pretty bad too. It happened not too long after I'd made a Bottom music video. Weird timing. It didn't hit straight away, it came later, while I was watching Bottom Live. I had a weird mix of emotions, really happy, because it's hilarious, but really sad because he's gone now, and there's probably never going to be anything else like it.
It was during the part where Rik fucks his line up and Ade proceeds to rip the piss out of him. I love that banter, they seemed to have a really good relationship.
Hilarious in Blackadder!
Hilarious in everything, great guy. I met him at a book signing years ago. I asked him how he got on with those pretentious Lefties. He replied "Well I'm one myself but unlike that lot, I'm not a twat, I'm arrogant but not a twat!"
There's a photo of his funeral, and Ade Edmundson is one of the pallbearers. The look on his face is gut-wrenching
The Young Ones was awesome. One of the only good things about MTV, broadcasting The Young Ones to the US.
Chandler dying hit me hard like a line of coke followed by a chug of hard liquor.
Saddest celebrity death as a kid for me was John Candy because I was a huge fan and he was very overweight but you still didn't expect him to die at 43. As an adult, I would go with Robin Williams, none of us knew about his health problems and he was only 63, Of course, it was shocking that he hung himself. I love Friends and Perry's movie career never took off but I think The Whole Nine Yards, Almost Heroes, Fools Rush In and even Serving Sara were pretty entertaining.
Yes I was shocked about Robin. Both a brilliant stand up comic and a skilled dramatic actor. My fave film of his is The Fisher King with Jeff Bridges.
Andy Whitfield..I was waiting for S2 of Spartacus. Those Roman actors are lucky he died
this is really morbid. Stop reading this if you don't want an awful and morbid fact in your head. William's didn't hang himself. he strangled himself with his belt. His death is haunting, I think. There are so many better ways to do it which means he would've done it as a spontaneous decision. He would've chose such an awful way because he wouldn't have trusted himself to do it later, is my guess.
I will never forget David Carradine's death (and the odd circumstances) in 2009 because it was on my birthday. I literally woke up to my alarm radio and the news reporter saying David Carradine was found dead in a Bangkok hotel with... well, you know the rest. Very sad.
Ol' School Kung Fu man taught me not to screw around with auto-erotic affixiation.
Auto-erotic asphyxiation always gets me choked up.
Steve Irwin hit me the hardest when I was a kid, I was six years old when he died and he was my hero growing up. I still have the entire collection of the Crocodile Hunter series on DVD.
Eddie Van Halen shook me up as of recently, I was listening to Van Halen ever since I was six years old. I never got to see Van Halen live and that will go down as one of the biggest regrets of my life.
My Aunt died in a jacuzzi. If you have a weak heart, the high temperatures can cause a heat attack. That's why they recommend less than half an hour at a time.
steve irwin hit me hard as a 5 year old i remember watching croc files and collecting the dvds
Lemmy passing was the catalyst for me to get back into metal. He was a one of a kind person and I don't think rock music has anyone remotely close or as influential as him.
George Carlin hit me like a ton of bricks. He was old, but man his standup got me through some tough times
Truth is the game was rigged from the start
I will admit that there was a little dust in my eye when I heard about Robin Williams. That hit hard, not only because he was in almost every movie from my childhood, but because it seemed like he went way too soon and I did not expect him to do himself in.
Robin Williams death hit me the hardest. His movies were my childhood. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hook is criminally underrated. Matthew Perry is up there though. I grew up watching Friends too. Chandler and Joey were the best.
Gilbert Gottfried was very painful, he's the kind of unique voice and humor that is impossible to replace.
When him and Norm McDonald passed the world truly became a lot less funny.
My worst celebrity death hasn’t happened yet, but it will in the next few years. Bruce Willis. I love him so much. I’m sad he has dementia but I know he’s surrounded by a loving family that is taking care of him and letting him live out the rest of his life mostly out of the holleywood spotlight.
I thought he has Aphasia
They had him do sheet movies until people started to complain so don’t know about that.
@@Br1cht it’s my understanding it was his choice to continue acting. Maybe it wasn’t, idk, but I’ve seen recent videos of him happily celebrating with his family and it was wholesome.
His mind will sadly be gone but he's only 68 and he could live another decade or so.
@@EddieHenderson92 I hope so, as long as he’s not suffering.
Jason David Frank. It hit me like a sledgehammer to the chest, not just because he was a childhood icon (I've been watching Power Rangers since I was in diapers), but also because he came to Argentina in 2017 for Comic-Con and I couldn't go because all tickets were sold out. So I had to put up with everyone on Instagram posting about their experiences and talking about how great it was. When I found out that he was at the con, I wanted to shoot myself because of the missed opportunity, but then I thought "it's ok. I'm sure I'll get to meet him eventually". I never did.....and I never will.
That fucking CC.......that missed opportunity is gonna haunt me for the rest of my life.
Neil Peart. Rush was always out there somewhere and then they weren't. :(
Yeah that one came outta nowhere!
Hot tub drowning is not uncommon. It puts people to sleep.
Vaxxed?
A death that hit me hard? This one actually shocked me how much it hit me but Ryan Davis of Gamespot and Giant Bomb. As far as a celebrity goes hands down Chris Farley.
One of my good friends had a stint as a heroin addict, and he said that the amount of times that he’s fallen asleep in the bathtub was terrifying and he’s surprised he never drowned.
100% drugs, they don’t want the brand of Friends to be tainted with the fact that the actors weren’t the pinnacle of good people
IIRC he has been open about his use during the show.
@@oz_jonesprobably using it to cope with the other things going on behind scenes in the industry.

Maybe. But given how wrecked his body was from his numerous previous addictions, I wouldn't be surprised if it just gave out.
He was 54 with the body of a 200yo.
Yeah it certainly fits the form of someone getting wasted and then passing out.
FRIENDS was very progressive. It was about quick sex, easy relationships. The cast went through sexual partners faster then most do toilet paper rolls.
Very telling of where we are now as a society.
Also had the first lesbian wedding on television. And the first lesbian couple with a baby, I think.

Paul McCartney is gonna break me when he goes. Since Ringo has become immortal somehow he'll be the last beatle to go.

I remember when Lennon was shot, I was studying for a law school final and my bf came in and told me.

Been an Aussie, Steve Irwin's death hit me pretty hard. Thought it was a hoax when it came on the radio.
Also Grant Imahara
Simply shameful not knowing who Jim Henson was/is.
As for a death that hurt, Anthony Bourdain hit really hard. It still stings to the day knowing what the man went through, and the push that drove him over the edge.
What did push him over the edgde?
Was it his lovley ex-wife banging teenage boys while being one of the faces of the metoo movement?
Calling out Hilldawg?
Not me. Bourdain was an addict and a cuck, a weakling Leftist and we're all better off.

Woke ignorants saying the show was too white, you don't see us gen xs saying fresh prince was too black. Work are hypocrits, and let them cry againt the wall. RIP Matt Perry
Woke washing has always been crap since they cant even make original believable characters. Talk about lazy
Got to be honest i can have sympathy for his family and freinds but as i have never met him and never will his death is just another days news watching people freak out in grief like he was their brother is very odd
I was singing MJ's song with colleagues in an office in CT in 2009 when the news suddenly popped up that MJ has passed away. That was something else.
Cameron Boyce’s death hit me like a bus. I grew up watching Jessie and he wasn’t that much older than me. Seeing someone in my age range die so suddenly and unexpectedly really reminded me of my own mortality. There was so much I used to take for granted like time with family but this reminder of mortality helped me get better priorities. RIP
For me it was definitely Norm. I didn't even know he was sick.
People drown in bathtubs definitely possible in a hot tub. It doesnt take that much water if you pass out or have a stroke.
Celebrity deaths almost always self inflicted. Wealth is not all its cracked up to be. Personally i never shed a tear for celebs. They had it all and still failed.
I roll my eyes at the whole idea of “parasocial relationships”
I can’t think of one celebrity I’ll ‘mourn’
I like Dave Mustaine as a character and musician; he is not my “friend” and when he kicks it I might shrug my shoulders, utter a “That sucks” and go on with my day
Hell, I’m surprised he’s still alive
I think Bill Burr hit the nail on the head when it comes to celeb deaths and social media:
It’s generally a display of “Don’t forget about me!”
Thoughts and prayers n such
There was a RUclipsr who went by the name of Thick 44 on a gaming channel called Neebs gaming
Seemed a cool guy... died of a brain tumor
I shudder to think of the BS that family had go thru with some of that channel’s more socially inept fans
I felt bad for the dude’s kids... but all of the thoughts n prayers garbage was cringe inducing and borderline performative
I just don’t get it
These ppl aren’t our friends or family
I’m not gonna pretend they matter beyond serving as jesters
This parasocial nonsense is delusional IMO
I guess this weird display from folks does me no harm... but I find it weird and I don’t get it
Cliché but money doesn’t buy happiness-or mental stability.
Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit hit me hard when they died! We can debate whether it was CTE or Chris knew what he was doing but he was one of my favorite wrestlers and so was Eddie.
Benoit was my favorite wrestler ever back then and I had actually met him once when the then WWF made a rare trip to my country. Best day of my life until it came out what he had supposedly done.
@@DudleyDawg I get conflicting accounts but even those who I hear acknowledge he had CTE, still call him a monster. I know it’s a touchy subject but there has to be some kind of definite answer. Especially since the pictures of Chris’ brain is way different than a normal brain.
Benoit was a work.
Chis Benoit. Favorite wrestler of all time. Still shocked at what he did at the end. My childhood hero. The man who made me want to be a pro wrestler, turned out to be a monster.
When Enkidu died, I felt bad for Gilgamesh
Dude, because I got that reference, you just sent me on a round of Ancient Sumerian Lament vids.
And I thank you.
Sean Connery, it felt like we never got a proper farewell to his acting career
I think Robin Williams death hit me the hardest, because he reminded me of my uncle John.
Jason David Frank. Dude was the green freakin ranger! The cool ranger with the ponytail man! It hit me hard because I had no idea that he lived less than twenty miles from my house. He was like....right over there . 😮
Seems like we have another "died suddenly" case that is totally not connected to the booster cough juice.
A guy who was addicted to illegal drugs gets addicted to legal drugs, aka the jabs. I guess it’s totally fine then.
A lot of celebrity deaths are shocking (for lack of a better word,) because a lot of the time it's people who aren't that old in the grand scheme of things.
I saw someone say "RIP Chandler Bing" in a chat yesterday, and I just thought it was some meme that I wasn't aware of. For a split second I thought "Has Matthew Perry passed?" Then I assumed it was unlikely and thought nothing more of it.
norm macdonald and lemmy hit the hardest for me. gilbert gottfried ivan reitman and harold ramis were hard too. im sure there are more but im not trying to upset myself completing a list.
Relatable guy who lost a long battle but least he is at peace now. A shame despite success he could never share it with a partner or family but it is what it is.
he had alot of business partners dont know what ur talking about
for me it was Nevermore's singer Warrel Dane and it meant the end of the whole band aswell, saw them live twice before. But yeah that hit me, sad stuff. Dio and Jeff Hanneman. From actors i guess Rutger Hauer.
Windows 95 with Jennifer Anniston and Matthew Perry
Dimebag Darrell Abbott's death crushed me. He was my guitar hero, I guess you could say.
I was tying my shoes, getting ready for school, the news was on, and I wasn't really listening to it until I heard the newscaster say that Dime and others had been shot to death at the Alrosa Villa the night before. My head snapped up to the TV and I stared in shock. Then I looked down at the Pantera shirt I was wearing and just didn't believe it. Couldn't believe it.
I went to my room and looked at my posters of him and Pantera and I remember immediately going and grabbing my CD player. I listened to nothing but Pantera and Damageplan for probably a month or two straight.
I know it's a long read, but I only can say three "celebrity death" got me.
You probably don't know him but Raziel's death hit me more than I thought it would. He was wrestling for CMLL, Mexico's (and the world's) oldest promotion, he was a veteran who was finally getting a push, winning their National Trios Championship with Cancerbero and Virus. They were doing amazing work, and Raziel was just the type of guy who could bring the best out of any single wrestler facing him, it was said that nobody in Mexico ever had a bad match with Raziel, whose moto was "Being able to perform tonight is the actual victory". He tragically died out of the blue, he was going for a show in Arena Puebla (I believe) when he was hit by a car and died instantly. If you're a wrestling fan like I am, I believe Jay Briscoe's tragic death (also from a car accident) last january can also count. I got that "dead wrestler denial" we all have, when we want to believe it's a fake news made to create drama and the guy just appears during a match and says "Gotcha, bitches". Of course, it wasn't the case. Say what you want about Jim Cornette, but his reading of Bricoe's passing broke me.
But the biggest was Sofzilog, he was a french speaking youtuber who was quite popular in that internet Right Wing community. I listened to all of his videos, got to chat with him online, and we not only were both from Belgium, not only were we both from Brussels, but we were living in the same neighborhood, so there was huge chance we passed by each other without knowing it. One day, I log on twitter, and I learn from Judge Gordon (another youtuber I've worked with in the past) that he died from a heart attack. He was the same age as me, from the same neighborhood than me. Got me thinking about my life in more ways that I can say right now.
More to do with the nature of it than anything else but the death of Trevor Moore really shocked me. Watched him live stream with with one of his friends about the old WKUK days, went to sleep and when I woke up he was dead.
"Could I BE more vaccinated?"
