  • @NUMBA1PROSPECT
    @NUMBA1PROSPECT 9 лет назад +14

    Whitaker didnt look all that bad for a guy who was inactive for almost 2 years and coming into this fight straight from drug rehab. He just didnt have his reflexes&speed anymore He actually threw a lot more punches than Tito Compare this to how awful Trinidad looked when he was in his 30s coming off layoff to fight Winky Wright and Roy Jones...he looked like a stiff clueless zombie both times.

    • @Armando316
      @Armando316 9 лет назад +2

      +NUMBA1PROSPECT Yeah it was clear to me that Tito's physical skills had definitely declined by the time he fought Winky. Even in the Mayorga fight, Tito is still noticeably SLOWER and didn't have the same timing on his punches that he had in his prime. Reflexes and reaction time were slower too. To face a guy like Winky, Trinidad would have had to at least have gotten a STRING of fights to properly prepare but it was bad match making.

      365+125=490 roughly a year and a third or 16 months, not even close to 2 years. He looked horrible unless good to you is holding the whole fight.

    • @J.A.Z-TheMortal
      @J.A.Z-TheMortal Год назад

      Tito was also inactive. He actually came back from retirement for both fights that you mentioned. Tito actually did not look bad at all against Roy Jones. He was very active, had a very good mix of combinations and even displayed some of the technical abilities he stopped using and developing once he became a knockout machine. Roy was waaaaay too big for Tito. Thats all. Meanwhile Tito was definitely more exposed by Winky than by Roy. On the Winky fight Tito showed how much he declined, due to inactivity and age, and how one dimensional he became due to the fact that Tito stayed with his father as a trainer, who with all due respect was a C level trainer at best. Tito was one of the best to ever do it, but could have been way better had he switched to Freddie Roach, Emanuel Stewart or Naseem.

  • @miamiboy161

    Pernell without a doubt is the most skillful fighter without the power of the punch of all time.

  • @cburgos005
    @cburgos005 6 лет назад +5

    Its funny how many experienced boxers at age 35 would toy with any good young fighter, But you see Tito was not that good young fighter, he was that great stubborn Puerto Rican fighter , that you would of have to kill to beat, You know what I mean? he fought old to a Great Roy Jones at a weight disadvantage he gave a good fight LOST and Tito never complained

    • @J.A.Z-TheMortal
      @J.A.Z-TheMortal Год назад

      For sure. Tito is one of the best to ever do it, but he was not a great technician. Very good but not great. Ironically was actually an amazing Mexican style aggro boxer, when normally most Puerto Rican boxers are excellent technical boxers. Just like Cubans. Also the fact that Tito kep his father as his trainer did not do him any favors. I will always wonder how much greater Tito could have been had Emanuel Stewart or Fredie Roach trained him.

    • @J.A.Z-TheMortal
      @J.A.Z-TheMortal Год назад

      And that surprises you? Do you follow the sport at all? Pernell was a MASTER technician, it is totally understandable why he would be able to stay competitive even at an advanced age. Meanwhile Chavez was the ultimate classical Mexican aggro boxer, facing a bigger stronger more technical boxer in De La Hoya. Plus, even tough Pernell was no saint i seriously doubt Pernell had the same level of lifestyle outside the ring that Chavez had, so Chavez could have technically been 1 year younger than Pernell, but Chavez was older due to the rough street lifestyle.

  • @724sports5
    @724sports5 3 года назад

    Trinidad was one of the more overrated fighters of this era this is whitakers second to last fight of his career. the de la Hoya fight was a gift and he was dominated by winky wright Bernard Hopkins and a past his prime roy jones. if you take a hard look at his fights he was dominated when he fought the elite fighters.

    • @J.A.Z-TheMortal
      @J.A.Z-TheMortal Год назад

      What a load of BS. Clearly you know nothing about the sport. Tito stills hold the record for the longest time as a champion EVER and successfully defended the title MORE THAN 3 TIMES as much as the second place (Erroll Spence Jr). Was De La Hoya a better technician? Absolutely. And if Tito and DLH fought 10 times, i could see DLH winning 6 out of 10 times, but i can also see Tito giving DLH permanent damage in one of them. Style make fights. Tito had no business fighting BHop or Roy Jones. Both where wayyy too big for him. Literally one human being has been able to vet away with this, and his name is Manny Pacquiao. Every other fighter that attempts something similar struggles. Including Canelo, who got thrashed by the bigger stronger Bivol. All the fighters that you mentioned are goated and deserve respect. To call Tito overrated is a joke, and confirms you know the same about boxing that i know about quantum mechanics. 0
