    The Colonel should know better. Trinidad was off balance and suffered a flash knockdown. The Colonel made it seem the fight was about to end and Oba was about to take Tito. Of course he must have said this in the emotional moment of the round, but after commentating over 1000 fights, he should know not to assume.

    Carr lost because he stood in front of a puncher instead of jabbing and moving side to side. Trinidad has always had bad balance so you have to keep him from planting his feet to use his power punches. This fight was just a matter of time that Trinidad would wear him down.

    I remember not liking Oba Carr. When Carr fought Livingston Bramble, Carr was knocked down and hurt but miraculously came back and KO'd Bramble that was on a comeback. I was pissed off that no one could beat him. After Carr was defeated by Trinidad, then I liked Oba Carr, lol.

    • @sinusbradycardia
      @sinusbradycardia 9 лет назад +5

      +Luis Donado I met Oba Carr in 1989 at the Kronk Gym. I was working out there. I watched him and Marlon Thomas put on a helluva sparring session. I thought the guys at Kronk left a lot in sparring. I watched the fight between Bramble and Carr, it was televised by USA and held at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Carr went down twice in the first round against Bramble. Carr was able to come back and he hurt Bramble bad with a left hook in the fifth and went on to decision Bramble. Bramble had only be stopped by Edwin Rosario going into this fight. Bramble wasn't stopped again until he fought Roger Mayweather and Bramble wasn't knocked down, but just taking too many clean rights from Mayweather, who could punch.
      Tito put tremendous pressure on fighters and he was a big, strong welterweight and he benefited from not having to weigh-in on the same day of the fight. He always came in around 160 on fight night.

      Agreed. Especially Pacquiao. Total mismatch that would have been. Mayweather might last the distance if he runs like crazy but if it's anything like Floyd's fight with Cotto, I can see Trinidad getting a late rounds TKO.

      Name me a great fighter above 140 that Floyd fought who was in his PRIME. And don't even say Zab Judah, I'm talking GREAT. All the names he fought were old by the time he got to them at 140 and up. Neither he nor Cotto were in their primes. Mosley was like 40, Oscar was like 35-36. Floyd woul have had problems in that golden age of welterweights. But I agree he could have outboxed Tito on his bicycle the whole night but then he risked losing a decision because Oscar tried the same thing and judges don't like it.

      marcos laureano u don’t no shit about boxing obviously son. Floyd has beat more hall of fame fighter at 19 then ANY other fighter in history.... in ANY weight division...... and U want top fighter he beat at 140+??? Okay, he beat cotto who won multiple world tittles after tht fight, Canelo, Arturo gotti, he beat Marquez, he beat Ricky hatton, Andre burto, he beat maidanna lmaooooooo. Ur ass has obviously never stepped foot into a gym a day in ur life. U should learn to wrap ur hands and hit a heavy bag before u start talking shit

    • @marcoslaureano5562
      @marcoslaureano5562 6 лет назад

      With the exception of Cotto and Marquez, none of them dudes are GREAT hall of fame fighters - they were money fights. If you think Andre Berto and Ricky Hatton were great fighters dude then YOU the one that don't know shit about boxing. Canelo was a young boy and he overrated like muhfucca anyway. Gatti was washed up and he was never great because of skill but because of heart - he didn't belong in the same ring w Floyd. Maidana was aiight but not no great fighter - he beat up a grossly overrated Broner. Hatton is trash and always was but he brought in british fans - it was a money fight. Floyd fighting Berto was a fuckin disgrace as Berto was trash for most his career and did nothing to earn no fight w Floyd. Cotto was great and gave him a good fight but MArquez went up 2 weight divisions and was soft af around the middle and crazy small. Again - name me a great fighter that Floyd fought in their PRIME. You obviously don't know wtf a great fighter is. It partially wasn't his fault - but he cherry picked money fights - which I don't blame him for but his resume after 135 is really not all that. I'm a Floyd fan but I'm not on his nutsack so hard that I don't see deficiencies.

Manny couldn't have competed in the welterweight division when Oscar and Tito ruled there, nor when SRL, Hearns or Donald Curry. They were all much too big and skilled for Manny to compete with.

    I’m still surprised that Winky and Hopkins defeated Trinidad. Trinidad was an intense puncher with his dangerous left hook. But for some reason in those two fights he took his time and never let the dangerous part of him come out on display.
    Every now and then he would let his dangerous punches go before him and completely destroy his opponent. In this fight, that unexpected knock down activated that dangerous part of him. Funny part is that when they were being introduced, I don’t know who that guy was but he looked like Carr’s manager. He was starring Felix down and giving him that pretentious mean look as if to intimidate him. That did not work for him. Lol! I’m sure he felt stupid after his fighter got knocked senseless and handed his first defeat. Felix Tito Trinidad, one of the best boxers of all time!
