    Tear blower and tear cream
    Eye drops
    Eye wash + eye cup (for when/if talent gets debris in their eye)
    A hand fan for you (so it doesn’t make sound while filming) and electric fans for each talent (so they can rest their arms)
    Listerine strips for kissing scenes (cause gum isn’t good on camera)
    Small travel spray deodorant for you or talent (must be spray to be hygienic is used by multiple people)
    Blotting sheet (for face oil)
    Sauce packets (cause catering and crafty can be disgusting)
    Soap strips (cause ain’t soap on every production)
    Small scissors, head lamp (cause you will probably need both hands to work)
    Hand cream
    Body cream
    Spf face spray (to reapply on the face without ruining the makeup)
    Sharpie pen & regular pen
    iPad (if you can, to see the monitor image on your own device, take continuity photos and notes)
    To calm menstruation pain get the Robaxaset back heating pads and switch them to the front on your tummy when “the show must go on” (it’s also slim and invisible under clothing while keeping the aerea warm for 18h!)
    Nail polish remover pads
    1/2 cut ear flesh toned earplugs to hide inside you talents ear while doing gun shots scenes
    A pack of wet ones (the blue ones)
    Your own set of cutlery (please take care of our planet)
    Burn cream (if you do hair)
    Shaving cream (yes to shave but ALSO the best makeup remover for special fx)
    Medical tape (to remove small particles like dirt, glitter or little hair shavings)
    A small mirror (so the talent can remove stuff from their teeth of check their noses for visible boogers)
    A pop socket behind your touch up palette (so you can hold it more easily and avoiding risk of dropping it and braking your powders)
    A shower cap (if talent needs to wash away and you don’t wanna mess up the hair)
    A ring of cuff mixing palette (to work quickly you need both hands, it better not to have to hold it with your hand)
    A tissue holder/dispenser (don’t buy the travel packets, you need to be quick and get them with one pull using one hand)
    A tiny tiny bottle of micellar solution and cotton swabs for quick touch ups on set (make sure they are in a box so they don’t get all fluffy, forget carrying them in zip bags)
    Tweezers
    A piece of nylon stockings if you do FX and need to make spirit gum less shinny as it dries (by adding texture, the shine diminish).
    Sunglasses (who wants to squint a whole day?)
    The most comfortable shoes you can find, you’ll be standing up A LOT.
    A hair dryer, even if you don’t do hair, you might need to speed some drying process, for fx or if and accident happens.
    A small folding cup (to wet your sponges, wash your brushes, hold any liquid your need for your work like blood or alcool for your skinillustrator palettes),
    A luggage tag on ALL your travel bags in case you loose them of if the production deal with their transportation (mention department as well in big lettering)

    Great list of products! I'd like to add a few helpful things, that I carry--- pacificia deodorant wipes or a spray for clients, a clip on umbrella for your makeup chair if your outside for sun protection or from light rain to cover your client, a lint roller, travel size Lysol spray( for smelly areas), and also a heated blanket( twin size- smaller size is easier to carry) for inside where it might be drafty or cold especially if your in a warehouse filming or shooting. I know I have a few others, but my mind has gone blank, lol😁

    Hello! Im starting an internship as a makeup artist on national television this May. My school didn't do that good of a job teaching us about tv makeup. Could you do some basic tutorials on TV make-up? Some tips would really help 🥰

    What would you say is the bare minimum of items to have in your MU kit on set if you are starting out?/What items are the most important ones to have?

    • @MakeupByShannonMarie
      @MakeupByShannonMarie  4 года назад +1

      Ooo Jaimy, that is such a great question. I’ll make a video answering it. I’d say the most valuable products are ones that can be used in many ways. Palettes with a range of skin tones, cream blushes that can also be lip colors. A clear gloss that can make any lipstick glossy etc. 😊

    Hi Shannon! Thanks for all of the helpful tips, I've been binge watching for a while now 😂 What are you go to products for brows and do you take a portable light with you in case the lighting for your set up sucks? If so, which one would you recommend?

    • @MakeupByShannonMarie
      @MakeupByShannonMarie  4 года назад +2

      Hey Julianne! Thanks for watching, that’s awesome! 😊😊
      I have the Senna Brow Powder Palette and most Shade’s of the Anastasia Brow Wiz. I also love the Anastasia Dip Brow Gel and the triangle brow pencils from Hourglass in the shades Platinum Blonde and Natural Black!!
      Oh man, I invested in The Makeup Light like 5 years ago and haven’t looked back 😳😳😳 it’s helped me be a better artist. I will say you can buy a lot of the accessories from camera stores, but the light itself is perfection! ❤️

    hi i’m 16 and currently doing my level 2 of hair and makeup and will be doing level 3 in september and my dream is to have a job like yours and i have no idea how i’d know all these things and so worried that i’d seen very unprofessional if i don’t know something i should know, how did you learn to know what to bring and remember and how you got into this career? I live in the UK and my dream is to live in LA but i just have no idea how to get to that successful stage (if you know what i mean), i love your videos btw!!

      Hi Jocy!! That’s awesome, it’s nice to meet you!! 😊 Yay, it’s such a fun career!! Don’t worry about knowing everything, I still don’t! I assist a lot of make-up artists who have taught me so much throughout the years and I still learn something from single job I do! Don’t be intimidated to reach out to other makeup artists and ask questions! I went to makeup school and learned a lot there, but honestly you’ll pick up a ton when you’re on the job!
      Feel free to reach out to me anytime 😊

    How do I shadow / assist a makeup artist ? Do I just go up to then and ask them ? Have a portfolio ? I don’t even have any work ,,

    • @MakeupByShannonMarie
      @MakeupByShannonMarie  4 года назад

      Hey Nicole! I’m actually working on a video about this right now, you can do it a few different ways.
      Having a portfolio is going to better position you for an assisting job, but there are other ways. Some makeup artists will do an unpaid internship or allow you to shadow them depending on what field they work in.
      Typically a relationship like this starts on the phone. Find Makeup artists in your area and ask them for a 15 minute informational interview. Prepare your questions in advance and start to build the relationship 😊
