@@yolandatrullinger5461 Yes worthless FBI agents. If only we had you as an FBI agent. I bet you’d keep cool and hit em every shot just like the movies.
Some important details were left out in this documentary, Grogan and Dove were the only two SWAT trained FBI agents in the gunfight. It’s important to note Ben Grogan lost his glasses during the cars being rammed together and was pretty much blind trying to shoot during the fight and Jerry Dove’s S&W 459 9mm slide was struck from a bullet from the Mini-14 and damaged to the point he couldn’t get it to function when he was executed ! Mireles was one of the only agents that had a long gun out that day. Others had long guns and machine guns in their trunks but couldn’t get to them after the fight started !
Platt exited his vehicle at the end and shot at Morales 6 times point blank range in miss because he lost so much blood
Thank you. That's critical information.
Over confidence....poorly trained ......and outgunned.......
Also, Ben Grogan was known to be one of those "prepper" type guy's, always training and preparing for worst case scenario's but failed to buy a simple $1 head strap to connect to his glasses so they couldn't fall off. I never knew that Grogan had served in the army
Some background: Platt and Matix were both military police with the 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, KY. Platt had also been a machine gunner and platoon leader. Matix had been in the Marines prior to joining the Army. The shootout at the end where there were 145 shots fired only took a very long 5 minutes.

Can we just set the record straight here? Remington 870s and Ruger Mini 14s are civilian weapons. Regardless of how many times they wanna say trigger words like "assault weapons" and "military weapons"
30 round mags, .223 Remington ammo, not a stretch to call it an assault weapon.
@jameswithers2334 last i checked neither of those are automatic firearms or select fire so not assault firearms at all.
@@jameswithers2334 Its just a rifle. "assault weapon" dont mean shit.
@anarky3092 It doesn't matter what you call it. Call it a fucking lollipop. A 30 round mag that can be fired in a few seconds makes it an extremely lethal device and doesn't belong on the streets of a civilized society.
@jameswithers2334 no you can call it a lollipop for all I care you're the one trying to give wrong definitions here. And that's what all guns are for... they are all lethal and handguns cause more deaths with less bullets so your whole argument is stupid and you should feel bad for having said it.

In the Line of Duty: The F.B.I. Murders (1988) did a pretty good job of telling this story. Michael Gross played Matix and David Soul played Platt. Bit of trivia: Soul's then wife, actress Julia Nickson, went into labor with the couple's daughter, China, when they were filming the shoot out scene. Soul went directly to the hospital still wearing his "bloody" clothes to be with his wife during the birth. I'm guessing his appearance surprised a lot of the hospital staff.
That is one of the best made for TV movies I've ever seen. All the performances were excellent and the brutality and heroism of the final shoot out was breathtaking.
I watched the original NBC 1988 broadcast.
They aired it again in 1989 and I recorded it to VHS.
That tape lasted me into the late 2000s.
Ed Mireles wrote a book about it.
Hollywood, I'm sure at Ruger's hand, glorified the regular Mini-14 ranch rifle Platt used with the Ruger AC556 13 inch barrel select fire (semi/tri burst/full auto)
That wood body and folding metal stock was used on regular Mini-14s on the original The A-Team.
Platt and Matix were pure evil.
I myself am a former Federal law enforcement officer (CBP and ICE), and a couple of months ago I had the honor and pleasure of meeting now-retired Special Agent Ed Mireles. Great guy. His son is now an L.E.O.
Okay, I gotta nitpick the weaponry shown herein; it depicts Jerry Dove and Ben Grogan (R.I.P. and God bless both of them) carrying .380 caliber Beretta Model 84s, when in reality they were carrying 9mm Smith & Wesson Model 459s. It also shows a few other agents wielding M1911 .45s; FBI agents did NOT carry 1911s back then, and even now, only their SWAT and/or HRT guys do.
Thank God for the man who had the courage to follow the murderers.

Did you know Platt got out of his vehicle and shot at him 6 times with A357 at point blank range but missed because you lost so much bloody was delusional
Sure he had a bullet in his arm but Platt was "THE GUY"
Citizens ask the police "why did you shoot him so many times?" Because one shot doesn't always do the job. This is a fine example.
So very true.
This is also extremely extremely rare. Most people are done at 1, but a full on fight like this? Throw tear gas, flash bang, flame thrower, like chop their legs off or something tf? Sometimes the only way to win, is to get psycho like Punisher
yeah but theres a difference between a few shots to stop a threat and the 90-200 shots that officers fire now, they just wanna make human swiss cheese nowadays
Some years back there was a dude around here who got shot twice while breaking into a house. Then the cops shot him like 3 more times when he was trying to flee the scene and firing his gun at the cops. Dude still didn't die and went to prison.
Exactly. Guns aren't death rays. You must hit the target in such a way that blood pressure is sufficiently dropped and/or the central nervous system is damaged to the point where the aggressor cannot continue to fight.

This and the north Hollywood shootout are why our police force is reminiscent of some countries militaries.
The militarization of our law enforcement probably involved a lot more than these two incidents, such as the usage of SWAT teams shifting primarily to drug raids rather than their original purposes of hostage situations and barricaded suspects, but they did highlight the lack of marksmanship, which is something that persists today, and the necessity of 'patrol rifles', which were already around but I think more on an individual officer's choice rather than department policies.
Thanks to this country's violent nature and history.
If so, it's a shitty military, then. We have seven layers of engagement before we're allowed to RETURN fire. We don't spray bullets indiscriminately. We take firearms seriously. We are SO much better than the cops.
Absolutely correct.

more like they were clearly not trained in how to deal with extensive special operations training. i'm sure they knew how to conduct a felony stop. they even say in the video that they had no training on how to deal with military training. FBI agents were trained in defensive tactics while the bank robbers were laying down precision suppressing fire which kept agents pinned down while the other robber got some killing shots out there.

😦 That groin shot, after everything... man. And the 1 agent that was going to retire in a year 😔. That was insane. I said out loud "I can't believe this actually happened".
We love the golden voice of the narrator ❤❤❤
Props to the cameraman for not getting involved and just watching the robbers
Thank God collazo survived .
New YARK. Always makes me smile when he says that lol
Snicker Doodle I’m making a observation, it’s not mean and if you don’t care don’t comment and move on
Makes me nostalgic for the time when I lived in New Yark!
At 37.00, "Can someone just please hand me a grenade" lol
Very proud of those very brave FBI agents, those that gave their lives that day rest in peace, thank you for your service

"With such violent criminals on the loose FBI agents honed their own skills on the firing range."
Yeah but they should have been practicing with SMGs.
if they had practiced shooting how did they miss so many times?
@harry maboff "they didn't HAVE enough smg's to give them out to more than about 5% of agents. "
Even if that were true far less than 5% of agents are confronting people as dangerous as these guys.
The thing is that J. Edgar Hoover could get SMGs to his agents when he felt he needed them. They were more expensive in real terms then yet they managed. The expense isn't the problem, it's lack of preparation.
There isn't even that much need to economize on training. Even going through say 2,000 rounds per agent training would be less than $800 today and I assume a similar price (in real terms) then. That's a lot less than the salaries of the agents that were hunting these guys. It's also probably a lot cheaper than the funerals and the thousands of hours of work examining the tragedy.
Very sad for those that lost their lives,Rip.
yeah jim kallstrom was class

If anything positive came out of this situation had to be arming agents with better weapons and training. I have a Grand nephew who is working as a sheriff in a city in southwest Ohio. He hopes to be a federal agent and has already been tested under fire when he had to defend himself and his partner from a perp who attempted to kill both of them with a vehicle. My Nephew was able to shoot the perp through the heart with one shot! He is my hero! He will make a good agent!
He is your hero. Well good luck to him.
He'll make a even better hood ornament
Tell him well done, he'll Make a great agent!
nobody cares about your story
Guess he couldn't just step out of the way then?
That was a very intense situation, and days when the FBI should be proud. What has happened to that agency in the past 10 years? Unfortunately, many of us now are having doubts about the integrity of the FBI and the DoJ.
They have lost integrity. They might kick off a civil war going after the wrong people
what happened? Nothing. Even 40-60 years ago the FBI was in the business of infiltrating civil rights and socialist/leftist groups, silencing/murdering prominent leaders. The FBI has never been on the side of the people, as is the case with other government agencies, the CIA being perhaps the worst of them. They're the henchmen of the owner/capitalist class.
some incidental good things they may do don't absolve them of the fact that they (sometimes violently) oppress worker and civil rights movements and organisations.
@@SMPKarma Yeah, the capitalist class that are part of the group who claim they're for socialist beliefs to everyone's face, but are greedy pigs behind the scenes.
the fib has had ZERO integrity for several years now. ever since Obama weaponized them against his enemies.
The FBI and CIA have always been corrupt, there was never a time when they were honorable
Man William Roberts just drives off after watching this guy get capped in the back like 6 times lol
Knowing how armed the bad guys were, the FBI should of been more prepared , not with 38 5 shot revolvers .
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤪🤪🤭🤭🙊🙊😁😁👌
Was thinking the same. They had a heads up on the weapons they had . They turned up with toy guns and a couple of shot guns. That many FBI agents shooting against 1 man and yet he almost massacred them all. Mind boggles
@@fasicougar Yep, bring peas shooters to a gun fight. Damn. These FBI agents were so undertrained.
