What's been working for me. I overprice and then give a discount and offer free first class USA shipping. I make about $3.50 off each decal. (postage, padded envelope, business card, order receipt, my invoice, a few hidden Mickeys decals (1" square) and instructions on how to apply cost me about $2.50 -$2.80). Once a month I sell at a regular price. I also cut more than one for stock (which profit gets bigger on how many decals you can get on the linear foot of the vinyl. Within a couple months, I had to purchase a mailing system cause I couldn't keep up with stamps & paper envelopes and the long waits at the post office. I really want to get into fundraisers so after we move in a couple weeks I gonna look into that next. Thanks Matt for everything.
I like to have an excel sheet with my data. Excel is basically a large calculator so you can set up your page to figure it all for you in nice organized tables. But most vinyl is pretty closely priced, just take into consideration how many colors / layers as well. -TRW Crystal ******Did you know? Hey Matt, let's talk about shipping charges! I struggle figuring out how much to charge--a flat rate based on purchase price, whatever the post office charges me, etc. HELP!
Cassandra Knight, I normally only charge a little over the actual shipping cost for handling. You have time involved in the shipping as well. You may also need to buy boxes depending on what you are shipping. Always think of all your time and cost.
Man.. ur so awesome sir. I love watching u. Good information. Thx u and keep it up. I'm looking in to getting in to events. Just lil unsure of how many I should make of each type of decal.
Hey matt, how much would you charge for (9) 22x5 inch black Oracle 651 vinyl decals. That just say HAIR MECHANIX. They're for a business and are also getting free stickers with the order.
Vinyl is very cheap per square inch, but there's many charts on Google that are extremely helpful. Very large charts for price per inch that grow into feet all charted out. Don't forget to figure in your time though as well. -TRW Crystal
We use our permanent vinyls from TheRhinestoneWorld.com. We generally charge about $5 for a one-color decal of that size. If you're selling them in bulk, you can probably lower it to about $3-5 each! -TRW Bri
Our rule of thumb is usually doubling material cost and charging an appropriate fee for time and labor. If something takes a long time or is hard to do, charge up a bit. A lot of it has to do with competitive research, too. If you're selling on Facebook Marketplace, for example, check out what other sellers in your area are charging for similar products. Hope this helps! - TRW Haley
I've shipped reasonably sized ones in a mail envelope with a piece of cardboard cut out to keep it from being crushed, same with manilla envelopes for larger. Fairly cheap to ship if they can be kept as light as possible like a letter. :-) -TRW Crystal
Hey Matt, love your video! They have helped me a lot in building my Etsy shop :) I had a question on Oracal 651 Vinyl. I know you just FDC vinyl but that brand is not very accessible in Canada and shipping it in makes my profit margins extremely low and close to none. I'm not sure if you have had experience using orcal 651 but do you know if it would be a good use as car decals? I have a lot of people who message me asking if I do car decals for like their car hoods or for the windows but I always turn them down because I am worried they wont last. Do you know if it is promising and reliable? (btw I put them on mugs and shot glasses but clearly state to hand wash and a void dish washing and all that stuff) THANK YOU!
Hey there! Unfortunately, we don't work with that brand, so it would be hard for us to give you much insight. If it doesn't last long on mugs and shot glasses, I might stay away from car decals. If you have since tried it, let us know what your results were like! - TRW Haley
Might be a tad late but I exclusively use Oracal 651 now for car decals because it’s affordable, high quality, tons of colors and finishes, depending on where you buy sometimes has free shipping (I’m in the USA, not sure for CA) and my customers have always liked the quality finish lasting a long time with Oracal. I’ve heard Siser is good (only bought them once) and I’ve had good luck with a handful of no name brands on Amazon... best way to know what you like is invest $50 in an assortment of products and try them all. Good luck!
@@bsnyder6973 Hey Thanks! I wish you were here 7 months ago, haha. I learned the hard way.. I spent over $2000 CAD on 751 vinyl and not I'm slowly switching to 651 vinyl. 651 just cuts details sooo much better. I love the 751 for the metallic/matte gold and silver, BEAUTIFUL. The 651 metallic/matte gold and silver suck. Im slowly buying 651 in bulk now and its drastically cheaper and I'm more willing to make any custom requests from my customers without worrying about the cost too much. Literally, I would only recommend this. THANKS!!!!

Hey great info Matt. Where can I get different design from without using someone else design
I know it’s two months later .. but what I do sometimes is take up to 3 and combine them together and add a little something of your own ..
Thanks for watching the video! You could always add the design to make it your own!
