Jaguar XF Not Starting occasionally - Solved

My 2012 XF was occasionally not starting with dead battery symptoms. After months of attempts to cure this problem, and visits to garages, I decided to investigate myself. I found that the nut securing the battery positive cable connection to the junction box on the side of the boot (trunk) had worked itself loose causing the engine not start and at times disconnecting power to the engine altogether. This might be due to a loose battery moving and pulling on the cable and in time working the nut loose. Tightening the nut seems to fix the starting problem. Hope this is helpful.

It's located in the trunk on the right side above the battery. You need to remove the side panel then you will see it. Hope this helps.

Good afternoon, a question when you say it doesn't start, do you mean that it doesn't do anything or that it tries to start the engine but it doesn't start. I ask you because mine sometimes has a hard time starting when cold or hot, it makes a starting noise but has a hard time turning on, that's why I'm asking you. thanks for your video.

Hi, I mean it doesn't do anything because the main cable from the battery to the junction box is loose. A weak battery may result in what you're describing but also electric or fuel issues might be causing it. Thanks

I have an xkr just now, no power to the main feed at the starter motor, I tested these fuses and good but I'll need to check if the terminals are tight

What fuses? This is not a fuse box but a terminal box. The positive terminal from the battery is connected to the rest of the car via this box. The terminal works itself loose due to vibration or unsecured battery, causing the engine not to start at times. By tightening the holding nut as shown in the video, connection is secured and the engine starts each time (provided this was the reason the engine wouldn't start of course)
