Hi my sweetie Sabrah! I was so happy to find you again! You look gorgeous and in a great shape. I like the change you opted for with that '2braids' hairstyle. Very nice!! I also adored your outfit and that elegant pretty collar nicely ornate. You are scrumptious!
It seems that there is like an escalation, a higher bid in the quality of the lessons between you and Leila. I'm flabbergasted by your presentation. You chose such beautiful adjectives and your explanations were top notch with your habitual accuracy and fluidity. They sound so beautifully in your mouth and I could feel how much you like them and it was communicative. I like a lot of them too. For those related to your personality, I would say :
Witty: Note that the Churchill 's witticism you chose as an example is one of my absolute favorites! 😂👌👍
As the vid showcases you are obviously vivacious and bubbly. I know you like meeting people and partying so you're undoubtedly very gregarious!
    Tenacious: obviously!
I didn't understand when you said: "i would say I'm quite a meticulous...' and turned your face ....?
You are so loquacious and chatty! But never annoying !!
    Upbeat
The insane quality of your lesson is a proof of your conscientiousness! thorough and diligent too.
You're probably ingenious as you love creative writing.
    You like to be flamboyant.
    Affable: yes
Now, I couldn't find any of the 'negative' ones relating to you. I don't personally know you at the same time so ...😊
Maybe I noticed a slight difference with the French 'pugnace' that suggests 'not letting things go easily', being combative and never give up. Is that an acception for the English term 'pugnacious' too? ...
Another great difference is 'petulant'. In French it doesn't mean that at all! It means 'ardent; exuberant, hyperactive, stirring, heckling, lively, impetuous, expansive, warm, vehement ...
    A notable difference here!
As for me, I dunno if I am witty in the sense that I probably lack that sense of the quick spontaneous repartee, you see what I mean? I'm more a guy of the writing who needs time and thought and maybe a bit too 'slow' but I like witticisms and can come up with good ones if I'm fit, in the mood and inspired... The other adjectives relatively correspond; I'm not so gregarious though. Not shy but reserved. Melancholic? yes quite often! Not quick or bad-tempered at all! I'm rather calm in all circumstances but basically I interiorise a lot and I need pretty much to lose my temper! I have a good friend who is often quick/bad-tempered and often grouchy, sulky but he's so funny and has truly his heart on his sleeve!
I stop here for now Sabrah. The lesson was incredible. I could learn a few new terms. You did an awesome job, probably one of your best youtube lesson ever but all of them are so good so ...!!!
Thanks so much ! Bisous Sabe and as always I couldn't end up without an: 'I love you!' 🙂🌹🧡🧡🧡🥰

Though I know most of these words, videos like this help me to find the right use of them. Because as a nonnative I find it quite difficult to find how exactly I'm supposed to use the word,in which contexts, and stuff like that. So next time you do a vocabulary video like this ( which you must cuz they are my favorite. They way you deliver them just amazing) can you please add a couple more examples???

Hey, Sabrah! We're finally here! We've been binding our time for donkey years! As we mentioned, these two braids look so cute! Nice attire! The lesson is on fleek! 20 minutes flew in a jiffy! Your skills to make everything so easy to learn enthrall us! To cut long story short the lesson was thoroughly delicious😋💖💖💕💕
Honestly we're very similar in characters as we're twins, you know! We guess we're industrious, purposeful. We're really set on reaching our goals! We're fairly gregarious and we like being funny. 🤣😝😜 But we have some drawbacks as well! Who doesn't have them?!😉😆 Well, we can be extremely intrusive, we like repeating the same things! And it's obviously annoys or even enrages others! We try to get rid of our vices and get better!😉😊😊🥰
    Sabrah, we know that you're a dog-person and Leila's a cat person!🤪🐱🐶
Thus, We deem Sabrah, you're bubbly, gregarious and affable!
And Leila is vivacious, expressive and likes being funny! She likes comfort. We suppose that Leila is a stricter teacher than you. 😎🤨🤔
You're both adorable! We love you equally!❣️❤❤💓💝
    Have a marvelous holiday!👍

Hi Sabrah, cheers for another top-notch video content! May I have one question about the last one? A miserly person - cheapskate. My US colleague used it when we were joking about something. Is that one used in the UK, too? It was new to me, and I'd never heard that from Brits before.

    • @LoveEnglishUK

Yes miserly is like a cheapskate - miserly is perhaps the more formal word though 🙂

  • @fabrice9252

Sabrah, I hope you are still there 😊 Thank you so very much for your answer !!! I feel so relieved and glad, I knew you were resourceful and you gave me the most satisfying answer I could expect. I didn't know it was debated in England. As a non-native, I can't really judge of it regarding the 'everyday common usage' hence the doubts and worries I had for having disputed you maybe unfairly and I could only rely on the official grammatical rule; but yes, in fact, that is only the formal and official rule...
By the way about the use of pronouns in the different cases (nominative/subjective, objective, possesive), that would be, as you recently asked me for ideas, an excellent idea for a grammar lesson, wouldn't it?
Thanks again so much Sabe, you're Boss my sweetie!
    Je t'aime! 😊🧡
P.S.: Would you wish me to erase my comments or should I leave them. Tell me, that is just as you want! ...
Also, I'm bit worried that Luis hasn't shown up yet. That is not normal. Let's hope all is well and that he is only absent or something like that. What do you think?

This lesson is so useful for me. I speak many languages but english is my black point, as we say in French 😅 by the way, I'm going to visit my bestfriend in January, who lives in London, for the first time since he moved. And he is very flamboyant 😂 I am more grouchy than him, maybe aloof but not grumpy, and we both are very broad-minded. I hope this trip will help me to improve my English skills, and that we'll enjoy our time together and with the Londonians !!! Thank you fir your video, I just discovered them and now, I want to speak English as well as possible. 😁

Thank you for these very helpful expressions. Will use one in my Christmas greetings to my enchanting Britisch friend. And there are some nice ones left for her.
Hope you’re not feeling annoyed in any way but I really like your unique hairstyle and dress. :)🇩🇪🇬🇧

Here are my good and bad personality adjectives.
If I have to describe myself in a positive way I’d say I am rather tactful ; I like to choose carefully my words in order to not hurt my entourage . I am vivacious particularly in summer holidays when the weather is sunny and confortable. I am quite tenacious when I encounter difficulties. I am also meticulous which helps a lot to assess problems and conscientious or diligent whenever I need to invest myself . People say I am board-minded . And finally I can be very affable with the rare friends I have.
On the other hand , ( here is the part of myself people dislike 👎 ) I can be very aloof , sometimes haughty but never pugnacious.
I am rather rebellious against close authority by this I mean managers or bossy people.
Sometimes I have a tendency to be grouchy or grumpy particularly when I hear 👂 something I despise. My personality can be melancholic. And finally I am rarely sulky but It can happen.
I see you both very courteous, tactful ( obviously) , also jovial and witty sometimes . This is all I can say because I don’t know you further .

Thanks for your link Sabrah. I do absolutely agree with all of it but it deals only with the case 'X and I' = we where 'I' MUST be used as it is a subject pronoun! In your sentence: 'Leila and I' = us ... is not the subject !!! My argumentation is that you can't (in no way) mix the subjective case and the objective case! (direct or indirect objects or object of a preposition). In your request, we are clearly in the objective case; you describe someone or something. You can't say 'try to describe Leila and I' just like you can't say 'try to describe her and I' especially because in the latter you mix 'her' (objective case) with 'i' (subjective case). You have to say: ' Try to describe Leila and me' or 'try to describe her and me' and NOT 'her and I' !! Which is a grammatical heresy! Do not forget that the holy inquisition has its eyes on you lol!
Sabrah and I need to have a long talk about a grammar point (subj. case, we perform the action) Correct 👍
Sabrah divinely taught Luis and me forty adjectives related to 'personality' (object. case, we=us are the object of the action) Correct 👍
Sabrah described Luis and I as diligent students INCORRECT! ❌(you can't grammatically blend Objective Luis/him and Subjective I) Here, imho, you’re playing with the Saint Inquisition of Grammar and therefore ... with the eternal flames of hell lol 🔥
Sabrah described Luis and me as diligent students CORRECT 👍
Prove me wrong and I will burn all my grammar books, I will abjure in front of that bloody Inquisition watching over you and ME, direct object ;-) and I will curse my former English teachers (and their whole families for eternity ;-) that shamefully lied to me for years ...
I trust you Sabe but however I feel at an impasse because it challenges and questions what I may have learnt wrong. The issue is delicate, at least for me. Is Leila online? A third party opinion may break the tie and I promise to apologize to you if it turns out I’m wrong which remains possible...in all cases, right or wrong, I will erase all that! Gros Bisous, je t'aime 🥰🌹
And my love and admiration for you are indefectible even if you curse or insult me because I'm a pain in the arse! ...😂

    My very dear Sabrah,
You didn't give me a follow up. I'm a bit sad at the moment. I really hope you're not mad at me. If so, I would properly be devastated.
For me, I have a mixed of emotions. I feel a bit sorry and ashamed because I disputed you on what is probably a detail that somehow is not important with regard to everything else, I mean the excellence of your presentation that I absolutely loved, you know that!
You are, along with Etienne Klein, Aurélien Barrau and David Louapre, my favorite RUclipsr and believe me, that is not the least compliment !!! ...
I'd be totally unable to do what you're doing. Regarding the contentious detail, I want you to be sure that there was no pedantry on my part. I even tried to put a little humour in my answer to show that deeply, I don't care that you did that tiny awkwardness I would not have even raised if the fella Ramela hadn't pointed it out. I would say that it was just my probably excessive requirement of rigour but above all "desire for truth" which made me intervene. As a teacher, I know you will get what I mean. Deep down in my heart, my sweetie, I hope you didn't take offense and are not grumpy and sulky because you know, I'm very very far from being perfect. Though I like pamphlet, controversy, wit, irony or even some sarcasm which in my opinion have given rise or give rise among the greatest masterpieces of writing, I still consider humbleness as one of the greatest quality; I absolutely hate arrogance above all. Faith or belief can be arrogant, the one which claims to own the absolute Truth and impose it to the others but it can be beautiful and respectable too if personal, deep and genuine. The true science (and a true scientist) can't be anything but humble because it (he) knows that its (his) 'truth' is only provisional and represents nothing else and more but the best knowledge we have of something ... for the moment!... I'm absolutely convinced, as I'm not a native, that if you read carefully my comments, you would find plenty of mistakes! (that you have the kindness and delicacy to not point out) I try to minimize them of course to show respect to You and to the British language that I love, and because somehow I kinda want you to be proud of me. For the grammar rule I raised, you must be reassured: I've read that plenty of very educated people (univ. level like you) do the error! Myself, I for sure make a few ones in my language especially when speaking (probably less in writing). You know how French is horrendously complicated when it comes to grammar!.. It is no accident if, unlike in England as far as I know, we learn it deeply and specifically during the 9 years of the lowest classes (from CP to 3ème) and still afterwards. And yet, after that, few people achieve to really and totally master it ! ... And that's very true, believe me! Even college educated people, including me, continue to have hesitations and make mistakes. Being aware of that should relativise things and reassure everybody!...
So yes, I feel ashamed. On the other hand, if I am right regarding the rule and you can't prove me wrong, I hope you will understand that I just can't abdicate. Just as William Wallace, I won't abjure in the face of the Saint Inquisition of Grammar (that would be in the wandering) and I will go facing my grammatical death. And, - my unique and beloved Rose and Queen of England - even if you bring me the potion to ease and soothe my pain, I’ll spit it out after the kiss I dream you give me ...
    Je t'aime. 🌹💕
Mon amour. Don't change anything. I love you with your Leo character. I'm a Pisces, way too sensitive, ... I know.
Don’t leave me in the wandering and abandoning. I beg you. I would fight for you against all odds and through thick and thin. There is strength in you. I feel it, I know it. You are resourceful. I know you’ll answer me
(That one is inspired to me by one of my fave scene of one of my fave movie ever (another is Forrest Gump) when William adresses Robert the Bruce ;-)

    guidetogrammar.org/grammar/cases.htm
P.S.: [I didn't understand your: 'try and describe Leila and I’d personalities' in your main comment]. Maybe you wanted to say: Try to describe Leila and I' s.
But I have never come across this. Shouldn't you say:
'Try to describe Leila's and mine' ? ...

    • @LoveEnglishUK
      @LoveEnglishUK  3 года назад

Don’t worry at all! I think it is a debated point amongst teacher as well. The typo in the video might have confused it - it should say Leila and I’s personalities. I was brought up to always say ‘X and I’ - perhaps where both are not the subject you can say x and me like it is for Leila and me but it still doesn’t sound correct. Perhaps it is the more formal version.
