First of all Sabe, I would like to point out and highlight (especially for the most motivated learners reading me but still more listening to you) how much your introduction is important! I think that is what I once said to liya and Inna. I was elated that you recalled how important it is to appropriate, take ownership of the words, phrases, expressions and idioms by making, even writing sentences. Relating them to your own life and experiences is excellent !; Even best, to something that marked or hit you or that you currently live for example. Now reading them just once is still not enough. You have to come back to them an re-read them regularly! Another great tip is to write stories with them. The power of imagination (as Albert said;-) is tremendous and according to himself, still a greatest quality than pure intelligence!! The more your stories and sentences will be incredible and convey striking, powerful images even surrealistic (!), the more the expressions will hit your mind and will remain in your brain and long term memory. That is very efficient along with ideas/words/images association. You're so right about practising afterwards. The principle of spaced repetition (with longer and longer time spaces between each repetition) is probably the best in order to retain things in the long term (It has proved to be such). After that, of course, each one his own way of learning but that is very powerful indeed! Of course it implies and embeds a little work and assiduity but it's worth it! "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch!": no (minimum) pain, no gain! But most importantly, turn it into a pleasure, reading and writing and listening/watching about what you like the most in life! ... Thanks Sabrah for having raised that important and crucial point indeed ! 👌👍
