Excellent, what an actor! I love Peter Falk he is genuine in all he does. The policeman was good too and the young policeman was handsome. This was a good film, I have never heard of the 87th precinct I only followed the lead to a Peter Falk film. Glad I did. It was good.
I am a fan or Ed Mcbain. I found out so much about him after reading Money Money, Money. I was stunned with Ironsides Columbo Birds and so many other connections.
He also wrote under the name Evan Hunter, his best known worker writing as Hunter is : The Blackboard Jungle [a great film with Sidney Portier, Glenn Ford, Richard Kiley, Vic Morrow and Anne Francis, released in 1955 and available on DVD].
I think h emotes faster than Brando but slower than Steiger [and with less volume]. Still, two actors of exception dramatic ability and I think any actor who can be compared to them is doing one heck of an acting job and himself an exceptional dramatic talent.
my god please upload more of this show if you can please! I first saw the one episode that's been floating around RUclips forever a few years ago,and have been on the hunt for more since...I've even tried to find the seasons to buy,but theyre unavailable in Canada! thanks for this episode by the way!
I watched this series devotedly when it first came out and read all the novels until McBain died. Then I figured the publisher and estate would pick a new writer to continue the best selling series. Why hasn't it happened and how could we make it happen? How about an anthology of original stories set in or inspired by the 87th novels. Surely some big name writers would contribute as well as newcomers. It could be like an audition for the job. Hey, I've got my story ready.
Not to mention the police Detective is the guy from The Twilight Zone that gets lost in outer space for 70 years and he comes back to Earth and realizes his girlfriend didn't age a bit, but Peter Falk he is one of my all time personal favorites, I thought he was the best when he played Columbo, but he also did great in that movie with the prison boxer Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames where he plays the old time Gangster that gives the Warden that little talk about keeping the casino open, meaning that the fight goes on!!
The forerunner for Law & Order came the next season, a show called "Arrest & Trial" with Ben Gazzarra and Chuck Connors, who traded in his rifle for some law books. Ironically, even though it was the same studio producing both shows, and the same network who aired both, L&O's Dick Wolf was unaware that "Arrest and Trial" had even been a show!
@@actionsub I thought I was the only one who remembered Arrest and Trial! It was aired sunday nights on ABC and it was 90 minutes long.....I think Bonanza kicked it's butt ratings wise.
Instead it turned out to be Officer Muldoon from the 53rd Precinct who went on to be Munster, while Detective Carella got promoted to General over a bomber wing in England...
Peter Falk walks away with the first prize. Great performance. Real mark of the man. Enjoyed the episode. Thanks from India
What a superb performance by Peter Falk!
It's awesome to see these forgotten tv programs from the 50's and 60's!
Peter Falk was One of the greatest
Tu Bailey Great actor you're correct to me he is too.......... underrated too
the expression with which he says «Hey gimme a cigarette» says it all; his acting was always perfect
This is great! I've never seen this show before. Peter Falk,Frank Sutton,Art Batanides, and Morgan Woodward together!!!
IntIndividuals not to mention Richard Deacon! @ 26:00
@@radiootoo Also, Robert Lansing, Norman Fell, Gregory Wolcott, Ron Harper.
1962 when tv was INTERESTING!
Oh my gosh! It's Sarg from Gomer Pyle! Love watching these oldies. ;-)

wow love this 💖
Peter was amazing 💖💖
Love seeing these old tv shows from the past! This one is so good!❤
Falk in this part reminds me of the young Brando.
I bought the entire DVD set of 87th Precinct, and it's wonderful! I highly recommend it.
where
Wow, what a wonderful cast!
Thank you for posting this video! I have been looking for it for 3 1/2 years!

Robert Lansing was always good in all his roles.(ls)
Yes, he certainly was. And he was also sexier than hell.
Blameless and Unaware looks .....plus point for great performance.. what solid actor he is. Thanks for posting
Another show featuring the late, great Robert Lansing!
45:30
Doctor: "...what does Tally Burgman look like?"
Colombo: "Like Sgt. Carter, you barmpot!"
Such a great TV show 1962 you don’t see shows like that anymore
Peter Falk does a great impression of Rod Steiger.
better: Marlon Brando
I think h emotes faster than Brando but slower than Steiger [and with less volume]. Still, two actors of exception dramatic ability and I think any actor who can be compared to them is doing one heck of an acting job and himself an exceptional dramatic talent.
Morgan Woodward was on Star Trek and the life and times of Wyatt Earp ( Shotgun Gibbs ) Frank Sutton from Gomer Pyle is everywhere !
Woodward's most famous role was that of Boss Godfrey, the Man with No Eyes, in Cool Hand Luke.

+Nick At Night Reborn For A New Generation - The entire series is available on amazon dot com; one at a pretty reasonable price.

Killer episode. Thank you !!!
Really! Well thanks,I'll look into it for my bday present to myself. .lol..if you have more episodes though please upload them
Nick At Nite For A New Generation I only have this episode with Peter Falk sorry
Timeless Media/Shout Factory has the whole series on DVD.
@@actionsub Yes, I bought it last year. It only cost me $35.00
Morgan Woodward played the deranged Simon Van Gelder in Star Trek's "Dagger of the Mind and Captain Ronald Tracey in "The Omega Glory" 0:30

Rich Battaglia Personally I would have gone out with Robert Lansing no matter how old he looked.
Arthur Batavides was in the Mission Impossible season one episode The Frame.
Just great !
thank you thank you
special guest appearances by Gomer Pyle's sergeant and the landlord from Three's Company
Don't forget Richard Deacon, AKA Mel Cooley from "The Dick Van Dyke Show".
Norman fell was a regular cast
And Detective Colombo.
I guess this was what turned Falk around, he studied and became a great detective. LOL
It's amusing that the old lady eyewitness Mrs Turner mentions M Squad, a police series from the late 1950s starring Lee Marvin.
Columbo really got mad in this one!
At 26:00, it's Mr. Rutherford, Limpy's father from 'Leave it to Beaver'.
So this is where Law and Order came from. And Peter Falk, I think, is where Al Pacino came from. Not here, but Falk as Columbo.
Mike, it's coincidental that Wolf didn't know. Not ironic.
@@actionsub I thought I was the only one who remembered Arrest and Trial! It was aired sunday nights on ABC and it was 90 minutes long.....I think Bonanza kicked it's butt ratings wise.
At 4:10 I was expecting Psy to start singing "Gangnam Style"
If you liked this, and also, if you're a fan of the Ed McBain 87th Precinct books, the whole series is available on DVD!
Gregory Walcott starred in the ed wood classic plan 9 from outer space and starred in the filmed biography ed wood
ok I wondered who he was
I remember back in those days you had to wear a lab coat to monitor a lie detector machine
And you had to smoke cigarettes if you were a lab technician or a doctor.
"a businessman or a crook" Most often there is little difference.
Mel Cooley as a Prosecutor!! :)
Okay ol school law and order lol
oh. one morething
Isabelle Dwan was my dad's stand-in grandmother wtf
coloumbo at his best
They smoked a lot of tobacco weed in them days gone bye,
All I see is Mr. Roper! Not exactly who I pictured reading the books.
He was also in the original Ocean's 11 with all the Rat Pack guys.
Gosh, they were so scientific-minded back in 1961! They believed that smoking was harmless and polygraph tests were accurate.
Where is Gomer!!
Detective Carrella could have played Herman Munster.
Instead it turned out to be Officer Muldoon from the 53rd Precinct who went on to be Munster, while Detective Carella got promoted to General over a bomber wing in England...
@@actionsub And did one hell of a job commanding the 918th Bombardment Group under the name of Brig. Gen. Frank Savage.
He's not Steve Carella. Too brooding and dark. I can't imagine him being Teddy's husband.
no, not all enough.
Why in fuck's sake would the three guys hang around in town?
Brovane's sister looks like Lee Harvey Oswald's wife...
She was in an episode of The Fugitive.
Sgt Carter as thug???
So little girls in 1962 would happily take money for an ice cream from a strange man creeping up the back stairs without asking any questions....
I saw that and said to myself - wow, there is no way in October 2021 anyone would even consider writing a scene like that.
