I'm South African and I've been dreaming about NYC since I was 8. I would watch the ball drop religiously every year since high school. After I graduated university, I promised myself that I would go to New York City. I finally went to New York City on Christmas Day of 2018 and left after the new year. Best week of my entire life. The plane landed and it's like I could feel it, I walked out the Port Authority from LaGuardia and my heart stopped for a minute. It was in the evening, it was cold and I was blinded by the lights. The people, the energy and then I looked up and saw the New York Times building and I knew that I'd made it to the BIG CITY.
I come from a bad family environment and my mom kicked me out. Only have $900 I bought a $160 Greyhound ticket from Amarillo Tx to New York. I've been on the road for about 23 hours now don't know what new York has in store for me but I'm both excited and terrified. I'm a crazy 18 year old but in all honesty I have nothing to lose🤷🏽♂️. Dont know how I'm going to make it there but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Wish me luck guys!🗽

I love it for the outdoors, the beaches and I was lucky enough to make some amazing friends but my heart is and always will be in NYC. My goal is to be bi-coastal. I know without question, if I needed directions, help with bags, if I fell or was hurt...at least one complete stranger would be there to do whatever they could... I wonder if that’s possible in NYC? Is everyone in such a hurry they’ve lost a bit of their humanity?
For all the talk about NYers having attitude, they’re actually very friendly. 10 years living there, always surprised how friendly people were, and great at giving directions. But I now live in a small town outside of the city and love it too. Hope you’re still loving Fort Wayne

They have a lousy mayor now and governor that has trashed the city and state with horrible laws. But it still is the city that never sleeps and where you can get anything at any time!

I am watching this because I travelled to New York from Australia alone and I am forever moved. Totally agree,it doesn't suit everyone but I feel the same as you in regards to squeezing the juice out of life and "making it". I totally got the vibe that anything could happen there! If you like the feeling of stimulation and meeting people from all walks of life NYC is it. Learning the story of Alexander Hamilton was also inspiring.I found people to be quite friendly. I am getting a tattoo of a famous landmark from there (my first one) who knows maybe one day I can live there because I don't fit in in my own country. Hit a depression wall big when I returned (my country is great just that NYC feels like a spiritual home for me).

NYC is not perfect I would choose LA over NYC. But it is good if you live their. Activities everyday, a coffee shop down the corner and you could eat a different food every single day of your life. It’s not the greatest, if you believed that you’re stupid. No city is the best, one could argue that the Fashion Capital of the world is the best or the City of Hope, or the City of the Sun.

People are more powerful than 1 person. No matter how rich, no matter how poor, the whole builds that 1. For that, we are lucky to live in the one place where there are 9 million amazing people that are worth fighting for. That is as American as 2019 will let us be.

X-90 IKR no city is perfect in my opinion I prefer Dubai not only because of its modern skyline but car events etc only drawback is weather
