He's always "kind of" acting, it's mostly him, and here's a surefire way you can tell. Watch him in the secretary, and then watch him on the blacklist, where you see his demeanor overlap is him, the rest is acting.

I love his soliloquies that just go on and on while the "criminal" (Blacklister or whatever) just sits there in earnest silence while he rattles on 😄.
Some of them are! He *did* work for a carnival (the bit about the carny , and carny-speak), he *did* work for a man all summer once pulling up carpet , etc (the story Red tells ending in "Value loyalty above all else.") , and he also helped to write the "One More Time " monologue when he's in the "box" with Ressler. (I believe the one more night of jazz at the Vanguard , the "I want a bottle of wine, and then another" parts were his. )

This interview just proves Raymond Reddington was based on James Spader. Their intellect and demeanor are identical. Whenever he starts speaking I can't resist but love him . He has this unique way of talking which makes whatever he is saying really interesting and engaging. ❤️❤️ His stories are always great.

I remember working The Practice with James... he thought I was a PA, asked me for lunch & yes it was around 1-2pm, his Prime Time, and I was an Actor on the show. But I got his lunch anyway, because he's so amazing and he asked me to. I didn't say anything till we got to set, he saw me not as a PA and felt embarrassed by it all. I said don't sweat it, you had to eat, it was my pleasure! Amazing Human Being!

You can tell Jimmy is very into having a genuine conversation with James, not just for the sake of the show but from a really personal point of view, love it.
Loved him since the office and recently fell in love with blacklist. James spader is one of the most immersive actors I have ever seen on screen and i can't wait for season 7 of the blacklist.

He's a celebrity for celebrities, everybody who's somebody in the movie/tv/stage business knows and praises him, yet he can probably get away with casual grocery shopping without getting circled by swarms of fans or a paparazzi _sniper-photographer_ .
