  • After moving house, obviously one of the first things I need to sort out and set up is phone and internet. So not learning form my previous experiences with sky broadband, I decided to give them a go again!
The main reason for this was that this was the cheapest and best value package on offer at the time which also promised the fasted broadband speeds at my location.
So in this video I look at what comes in the box, ease of set up and initial speeds.
I hope to do a couple of follow up videos...
-Sky Q and the mesh system
    -Ongoing Broadband speeds and reliability

First 10 days DLM optimises your line. Basically it’s messes about until it’s happy which means results will be random. Just don’t unplug it or it will think it’s a fault.

The sky hub you have will be capable to take fibre to the home with the phone going in the router. I am aware fibre to the home will allow 1gb to the home. I believe Sky will be offering some higher speed packages like 145/28 or 300/50. The upload speed needs increasing like 40/40, 80/80, 100/100 onwards.
I am wondering on your setup you do not have fibre to the home because of your socket. The fibre to the home also comes into two unit fitted on to the wall with a cable running to the router.
Check if your House is connected to over head BT lines you see thicker cable fitted to the pole for fibre to be delivered to your home during 2021 onwards.

UPDATE: My Internet wasnt fully ready yet, once they installed the ONT and plugged everything in, im now getting 70+mbps download and at least 17-19 upload. I get like 4-7ms most of the time, can vary, but overall, i would totally recommend it 💯

The worst broadband you can have hands down Sky has never been reliable and the speed is just a lie I’ve had problems none stop and the new broadband is even worse than my last one! Stay away 100%

    This is really confusing.
I'm currently on the basic package with a Sky Q hub and currently when I do a speedtest I get 6ms, 68.89mbps download and 19.22mbps upload. (Currently paying for the 67mbps package.)
I've got a upgrade booked in for the 11th of May for 145mb package and was advised that I will be getting FTTP. ( Fibre to the property) By a Sky, and an Open Reach engineer will be out to connect my new feed to my property? But surely the Copper cables are not capable of handling anything over 80mbps, but you are using the same router as I got just recieved in the post?!

    • @Dannyd2134
      @Dannyd2134 3 года назад

Copper can handle upto 1gbps, but the issue is that because of distance from the green cabinet, you will a degradation in speed vastly. So it's not actually worth spending money to get copper to those speeds.
I don't think you are getting fttp, you will be getting Gfast. Which is a technology that increases the frequencies of the line to allow it to go above 100mb.
The only companie who offers 1gb down fibre are B4rn, Hyperoptic, swishfibre, city fibre and Vodafone. Bt, sky, talktalk, virgin and EE do not offer this.

@@Dannyd2134 after upgrading to Sky’s 145mb package I just connected the new router to the copper adsl line. Current speeds are 150.72mbps download & 22.27mbps upload. Ping on speedtest is 3ms. I’m very happy so far.

@@zGratchBenchmarks You're not using ADSL, you will be on VDSL. But I have just upgraded to the sky ultrafast 145, fingers crossed it stays at that speed. Glad you're happy with it. 🤞👍

@@Dannyd2134 yeah, worst part about the 67mv package was constant packet loss on Warzone. Even whilst nothing else was using the connection. But so far so good.

This is for the phone line via Internet. I think basically like VOIP. So any revived or made phone calls aren’t actually made over the phone line but rather the internet.
