Man there is just nothing like professional dancers and sharp, dead-on choreography. Just gorgeous.
Oh, so cool! How great to see women dance this choreography.....
As a native New Yorker , I sometimes forget why people from around the world dream of being here . Then with something like this , an event that shows the limitless level of culture and immersion that exists in this city , I realize once again how beautiful New York really is .
I have lived in California all my life. But never seen NYC
Its so nice to see black men in a flash mob that isn't robbing a 7 Eleven store.
Awesome awesome never gets tiring watching West Side Story dance routines. So blessed to have performed this 40 yrs ago. Timeless music and dance. Truly lived seeing this flash mob in NY
I remember as a kid in the 60’s acting out a rumble during recess. Snapping our fingers and saying, “Play it cool. Pow!” was my favorite part. The Municipal Opera, an outdoor theater in St Louis, must have staged it in the summer. The last 10 rows were free, so the whole family would go.
EXCELLENT !!!
WEST SIDE STORY is the musical ever
The West Side Story, best movie Ever!!
They are dancing to the greatest musical in history and should be proud !
They look proud indeed🙂
You are correct!!
WOW.............................what a delight
Nothing like NYC Baby 💯💯💯💯💕
Flash Mob? Perhaps not.
Brilliant? You betcha.
Beautiful.
this is why new york is the greatest city in the world
I’ve dreamed of seeing it long before I was into musicals
beautiful
Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!
They come close to the original stage choreography, amazing for such restricted space. I saw the stage version 14 nights in a row at the age of 21.
14 nights in a row.
You were ahead of the Star Wars block busters generation.
I'll bet you weren't the only one. Am I right?
Hitting all those Jerome Robbins lines.
I love new york...a lot.
fantastic go sky !
I love New York
This was Great.
That was amazing
Bravo! Well done!
that is quite inspirationalc
Better than the play!!!
this is great
😍🗽 LEONARD BERNSTEIN 🗽😍 💝🦈✈✈🦈💝 Thank You ! Happy New Year 2020 AMERICA !
Real flash mob !!!! Ahhhhhh
After 53 years, West Side Story lives on 💃
i like it yeah!
YAAAAASSSSS!!!!
that was very cool.
Heel mooie 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Groetjes uit Amsterdam
Very cool.
A brilliant musical, West Side Story. Written by two brilliant geniuses, Bernstein and Sondheim.
Ja was heel leuk
take that!
that is so cool
Wow!!
In 1961, West Side Story was showing at the Paramount Theater, in Baltimore, MD. I cried, begged, pleased with my Mom, to let me go see it. For some reason she relented. From that moment on, I knew I had seen one of the greatest, most wonderful movie, of all time. I cried when I was watching it. I fell in love with Natalie Wood. Since then I've played the piano for this show, multiple times. I've seen it on Broadway. I've watched the film, over and over again. It should have won eleven Oscars, not ten.The only other film that moved me like WSS did, was "The Sound of Music." I saw this at the old Ford"s theater in downtown Baltimore, when I was 5or 6. I can't thank my Mom enough, for opening this world to me, and since I"ve seen beaucouo Broadway shows and films, and it keeps getting better all the time. Thanks guys for letting me share all of this.
Jay M. from Baltimore.
very cool!
That's what's up!
Nothing like the original.
nice!!
The awkward moment when you are the only one left who is not part of the flashmob...
New York F'n City.....
Man I wish I was in the crowd.. this is one of the best flash mobs I’ve ever seen.
I would DIE. Will NY ever be this amazing ever again?
There are more people dancing than there are watching.
lol i did west side story for my theater and i played tony and my cousin was Anybody's so i got to say that to her lol good memories.
superbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
If I had to guess, few to none of the people would have known it was from West Side Story. People are more familiar with the songs rather than the background music. It's a shame my favorite scene is the Prologue and I love it solely for the music and choreography. Leonard Bernstein was a master of his craft and the music proves it.
That is sad more so than the story
That was pretty damn cool! #PandemicLIFE2020
It was. But i would have changed the music to match the dancing
"You better leave our turf or..."
"Or what!? OR WHAT!?"
"We'll dance the fucking daylights out of you! THAT'S WHAT!"
This kind of thing happens all the time in New York.
i'm from Texas...we just have real mobs....nice change of pace
That's fucking beautiful!
You should. I've been twice. Going again in 2013.
Wish they would of used the overture from the films beginning. They could of used so many different dances.
Glad to see the real music and talent is still alive. West Side Story, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Carousel, Oklahoma, Brigadoon, Flower Drum Song, Camelot. Nothing today can even come close.
Well done dancers!
That is because you do not have the same ampersands who created great musical scores.
Funny that the U.S. is much more openly gay now and hates musicals.
I love flash mobs. So positive. Love it. Love new york, love musicals, love broadway
wow
That is freeking awesome.
Athleticism, discipline and precision on display to the music of one of the greatest musicals!
Okay. That was pretty cool. Lol
Great description of your avatar.
Go Ryan Worsing work that beginning!
This is such a great memory. So glad someone posted this, I can’t believe it’s been 10years! 💜
My brother just sent this to me tonight to enjoy and I absolutely loved it. If you are associated with it, congratulations on a wonderful event.
why cant a dance class in middle school or high school do something like this i would sign up make it a lot more fun
I was senior when this was filmed! I’ve been a fan of WSS since high school.
I would just jump in the middle and start shuffling.
Wow!Who is so pretty?Crazy Carol Sings Broadway Sally Bowles amazing.I miss Natalie Wood.
AWESOME!!!! Talented dancers:) (34 people are uncultured swines)
@nouvelleSLang EXACTLY what I was thinking while watching this.
i love the dancing of course, but especially the facial expressions too! LIKE!
This video reminds me that I need to lose some weight.
This is the coolest thing - to have them perform this, right on the edge of the West Side, is amazing!! 💃🏽🕺🏽
Wooooooooooow xD
that guy in the beginning is hot
Fifty years! It seems like 50 seconds. We who were there for the original stage production, and then the film, wondered if this greatest of American musicals might be forgotten as time moved on. It was so connected to a particular time and place. We
need not have worried. Just saw it at the 12,000-seat Muny Theatre in St. Louis and it was magnificent, and all the original orchestrations and choreography. The audience was besides itself with joy and at the end loudly sobbing.
Happy 50the Anniversary!
Party boy flash mod was more entertaining :) But still cool.
When you're a jet, you're a jet all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dying day!
Loved it. Gave me a little tear. I don't know if it was the nostalgia of the musical or the sadness that it seems our country is running so fast to abandon the things that have made her great-and Broadway musicals are an American staple so all of that together made me sad, but joyful at the dance same time. My son hopes to be on Broadway someday, but I fear if he ever gets there New York won't be the same....Either way-I loved this. What a brilliant tribute to a 50 year old masterpiece. :)
Unbelievable that this music and dance was first heard and seen on Broadway almost SEVENTY YEARS AGO !!!!
to the deaf- these people are crazy
I Like the East Side Story Better!
and this is why i love new york
Freaking amaaazing! Happy 50th Anniversary!
ADORABLE!!!
NY has lost spontaneity in the last decade. You made the streets exciting again. God knows this city needs an injection of new creativity and dedicated young people who work together to evolve the arts to the next level (not to mention it looked fun to do as it was to watch). J Bergasse, you gave just the right elements of Robbins and well executed expansion to pull off a memory that will be remembered for a lifetime. It's why many of us moved here in the first place. Well done
Fantastic! Best score and choreography ever ever ever!
AMAZING
FABULOUS
so much more exciting than the Godspell flash!
Brilliant. Gave me goosebumps
BEST FLASHMOB EVER!!
Great!
i wanted to see them fight
