    Very handy, my son is doing his restricted in a couple of months through Lichfield. I've taken notes and we'll try to do the same route a few times so he can get used to the area. He's had lessons from the AA as well, so probably more up to date on the rules than I am.

    Im sitting my test here in the morning. Did a test at sockburn last week which was classed as an 'incomplete' so I had a free resit opportunity. I think the test officer screwed up and had to do that or get a complaint etc. The whole thing was an awful experience honestly so I decided to try Lichfield instead of panicking about the testing officers at sockburn. I'm feeling really anxious after a bad experience. Plus I live out of the city so more rural back roads and open roads are my happy place, as opposed to inner city. Thanks for the video, it has helped me mentally prepare for what I might be doing.

      Oh sorry to hear about your experience last test. Don't worry about it and just think forward to the next one. Go and have a drive around the streets and get a little bit used to the roads (not too used to them though) and hopefully you will be all good for the test. Good Luck.

    I have my restricted test in 13 days been on my learners for 3 years. I was just wondering at 1:10 is the route still the same or is it different and turn onto Fitzgerald ave? I was a bit confused with the signalling as well if you were going straight would you still recommend indicating right then left? Thanks 😊

    • @yeahnahproductions
      @yeahnahproductions  3 года назад +2

      Hey there. The route is still the same but I have heard there is a lot of road works so they have been using the other route a bit more which also goes this way. But I have also heard that they will just go straight down to Fitzgearld Ave from Lichfield St and then turn right onto Fitz. As the arrow is a right turning one I would signal right and then as you move up to the centre of the road change it to a left signal.
      Good Luck and practice as much as you can before the test.

    Just a question to double check.. do you check your mirrors first before u change lanes then indicate or u indicate first and then check your mirrors?
    Also any tips for me because my test in is 13 days and I only had like 8-9 months of driving experience🥹

    • @yeahnahproductions
      @yeahnahproductions  Год назад +1

      I always taught signal, centre mirror, side mirror (in the direction you are going) then blind spot check (in the direction you are going) (looking forward in-between each check) but others say mirror, mirror, signal and then blind spot check.
      My way is that you signal first (must do for 3 seconds or more) and while you are signalling, you are checking the relevant mirrors and then the blind spot and if it is clear then you can move over and if it isn't then you move into the next safe gap.
      If you check your mirrors and then you signal, you have to wait 3 seconds before you move, and then you have to recheck your mirrors to make sure it is clear before the blind spot and moving over. For me, this just makes the whole process longer and can cause too many mirror checks taking your eyes off the road more and hesitation to make the move.
      Note, signalling doesn't me you have the right of way to move over. It is showing what you would like to do and let others know that when there is a gap, you would like to move over safely.
      Tips:
      practice driving as much as you can. Have a professional driving lesson now so you know where your level is for the test and what you may or may not need to do before the test. It will save you time, money, and a bit of embarrassment.
      Good luck.

      Yes and no. If i was on my test I would but if I was just driving normally then I wouldn't as I think it is more of a straight through but listen to the instructions you are given by the Testing Officer. If the say straight at the traffic lights then don't signal but if the stay at the traffic lights turn right and then take the first left which is right there, then you need to signal right then left.

    I have my L's for nearly 12 years now so this will be my 2nd attempt to pass the restricted. What advice should you give me? The tester told me that I don't turn my head that often to look what's behind me, instead he failed me because I used the rear view mirror. Is that wrong? Do I need to turn my head all to the back to see if any cars behind me? I'm confused...

    • @yeahnahproductions
      @yeahnahproductions  2 года назад

      Hey there, I can’t really comment on your situation as I haven’t seen you drive but if you are turning left or right and/or crossing over someone else’s lane/ path then you need to Signal, mirror (centre), mirror ( side mirror to the direction you are going), and then blind spot check ( looking over your shoulder to the direction you are going to go).
      If you get into this habit then not only will you make yourself and car safe but you’ll also make others on the road safe too.
      Making it a habit before doing the test means when you get nervous or stressed it will still be natural for you to do it making the test easier for you.
      I would recommend that you have at least one driving lesson with an instructor and they give you a lot of good pointers on what you might need to improve again this will help bring the nerves down for when you take the test.
      Hope that helps. Good luck

    Hi there. Thank you for this. I will most probably be driving this route for my test though I have 3 questions.
    1: at 0:52 when wanting to turn right at the lights, are you meant to turn into the left hand land first and then cross over or are you able to go into the right turning lane straight away like you did in the vid?
    2: at 13:05 are you able to turn right onto the area inbetween the islands to wait for a gap to merge with traffic coming behind you or should you wait for traffic both ways before turning?
    3: at 23:41 there looks to be a temp speed limit of 50 but you then look to speed up shortly after, I was just curious if I had missed another speed sign or this was just because they had clearly forgotten to add the 100 limit back on?

    • @yeahnahproductions
      @yeahnahproductions  4 года назад +4

      Hey there. All good questions.
      1. I would drive straight into the right hand turning lane as the left turning lane starts right in front of you.
      2. Yes you are just as long as your vehicle fits within the dotted white lines. If it is too long then you might need to be on a bit more of an angle.
      3. The sign you are looking for is the Open Road speed limit sign. White circle with a black diagonal line. It is just after the bridge. The limit is 100 for cars and motorbikes but various other vehicles like trucks and towing vehicles might have a different maximum speed limit and we must adjust our speed to match there's.

      @@yeahnahproductions I failed. I had to right turn onto a 60km/h Road that had a temp speed limit of 30km/h that no one was following. I needed to speed up to merge off the flush medium before gently slowing down to the temp speed limit (a rubbish truck going at 60 soon was tailgating me which is no fun) and that gave me an immediate fail. I have to wait another month before another test slot is available. Hopefully the roadworks are done. No one in Hamilton keeps at or below the speed limit and people often drive down the wrong side of the road or half on the foot path to get around a nearby corner if there is an inkling of traffic. Practice that temp speed again and don't let the pressure of other road users get to you. If so then just pull over and let them by.
      No one cares about learner drivers or any other drivers on the roads these days so just follow the roads and do your best knowing you are driving safely.
