I use to use rechargeable hand warmers. Charge them in the library put them under your blanket with you. Hand warmers you don't charge are cheap put them in your socks and gloves.

Consider recycling cans and plastic bottles to fill up your tank. Also get a bag of potatos, onions, bell peppers and make smothered potatos, that will fill you up over those noodles. Consider instant grits with butter too.

If not I suggest you get one so that you can utilize their computers to job hunt and for other purposes. Churches in your area may also be willing to help you out until you get a job.
Exactly I was thinking of this he needs to look for food pantries too. People leave food in them for anyone in need. There are also free retail stores that will give free clothes and supplies out. No need to suffer, everyone needs help sometimes, especially now.

I was just doing the same thing in Northern Colorado. I don't think yall truly understand how tough this is. It's pure hellish for sure ..I had three sleeping bags to sleep under and one huge wool blanket. Buddy heater for the morning once up out of the blankets. Still it's no joke even with the appropriate gear like I have. I don't see how this dude is doing it. He's tough as nails. No this.
You will probably have to buy a pack of "hot hands & body warmers" as well as an electric blanket that plugs into lighter. Also, invest in a Jackery or Bluetti that you can recharge using solar panels or plug up at the nearest coffee shop.
I've been doing what you're doing since 2019. I make a mylar tent over my bed (emergency blankets) keeps the heat in and doesn't make you sweat profusely like when you wrap yourself in it. Also, lighting candles did help too, didn't heat entire van up but it cut the cold. You can do the same with Sternos but be careful with that flame. Good luck and much love from NYC 🙂

Try putting reflex under the rug, under the mattress pad, on all windows and on the ceiling. I think you are loosing a lot of heat. Also, please ask the churches for blankets warm clothing, food and help. Fire stations may be able to help. I would consider asking hotels for a blanket. All they can say is yes or no. If you don’t ask, they won’t give.
Is your Mr Buddy Heater still working? If you keep a window slightly cracked it should stop turning off in the night. You need a heat source inside to keep you warm. Please let us know if you need more propane or anything for it.
Many people are right about the Reflectix and "survival " casualty blanket. They can be so effective, you'll start sweating which is not good but you can adjust them to avoid them. God bless you sir.
If you want your van to heat up faster get some cardboard and place it front of your radiator to block the cold air from coming into your radiator, also I noticed that you don't have anything/insulation covering your roof on the inside, those reflextives will help but really you need those foam boards and you can either use spray adhesitives or thin metal slants to hold them in place.
Mr Buddy heater. Or block off the front of your van with a blanket. And cover all your windows. About 20 votive candles (not tealights) or a bunch of bigger candles will warm up the van. Can not sleep with candles going of course. I'm a full time nomad started in a van but now in a hatchback small car. Been full time for 13 years. You can also get a single burner camp stove and use that to heat BUT what ever flame is burning you MUST keep a window cracked a few inches or you will have carbon monoxide poisoning. I used to live in the northeast and I was laid off 8 times. Make a long story short, I moved south and the temp is more tolerable. One of the best decisions I have made. We have lots of jobs and they do not require any college education. I wish you the best.
Hello, when you can get a regular propane canister with the hose to connect and then refill it when it is empty....I don't remember how long it last....but that worked for me...when I was camping...just make sure you have enough air flowing through...hope things align for you soon.....blessings.
Kerosene heater from menards or lowes and a 2 gallon jug will last 2 days on low. Kerosene is the only heat that will overcome the cold inside. Kerosene gives off less vapor than lp propane. Insulation on the windows. Co2 detection to.

thought you got a propane mr. buddy for in there....... they are great 1rst thing in the morning or for quick heat when needed.......... but not to thrifty if you run them all the time unless your using a 20lb BBQ tank.......its been my savior up here in New England !!

Diesel heaters are getting better in quality also. But need a solid installation. Good luck but you need to go south for the winter untill you can learn the way a little better. Walmart has 18 hour hand warmers that work great.
Get yourself a small pup 🎉tent put over your bed. Your breath and body heat will help keep you warm. Do you have a portable solar power pack? Get a electric blanket. Use tea lights with clay pot with hole in bottom over the tea light. This will get the pot hot and heat a little bit .
Realty check it time to head back home to warmer climate… you can come back to see your kids but this time prepared yourself before returning to the cold climate.. A really big snow storm is heading your way. Don’t ignore the advice that is given it’s for your survival
Until you can get a mini diesel heater i would get a buddy heater and a propane tank to keep warm for cheap. Insulate your van this summer my guy. Check your local town dumps for foam board too depending on your state.

Get a Mr. Buddy heater that hooks up to a propane tank it cost about 20 bucks to fill it, but you MUST HAVE THE WINDOW CRACKED ABOUT AN INCHE, so the fumes do NOT unalive you in your sleep. Also, a CO2 monitor helps alot, because it beeps when CO2 is too high.

You NEED to make refleticks covers for ALL IF YOUR WINDOWS DUDE! YOUR losing any heat you got thru the windows. And separate the front from the back!
Yes! Please cover all of the windows. You can even remove them during the daytime, but but them up at night.

A moving blanket over a Wool blanket over a gease coat with the hood on.. Should never feel the cold again.👍
You can also put boiling water in a metal thermos in tour sleeping bag

I hope things get better for you, get gas and some food somehow, the necessary things u need. Thrift stores definitely have a lot of things that would help you, blanket, boots gloves in this weather. thought you got a propane mr. buddy for in there....... they are great 1rst thing in the morning or for quick heat when needed.......... but not to thrifty if you run them all the time unless your using a 20lb BBQ tank.......its been my savior up here in New England !!
But the carbon monoxide can kill him he need to get a jackery battery and a electric heater
@@allisonthomas8099 I very much doubt he will die from Carbon monoxide using a buddy heater in the van......in fact running one would have a hard time setting off a carbon monoxide detector....they also have an oxygen sensor on them ....proven ...tested ...1rst hand

Try getting some wool blankets and hang them around and make a mini tent inside or get a jackery type battery bank and a heated blanket they don't draw alot of power
Diesel heaters are getting better in quality also. But need a solid installation. Good luck but you need to go south for the winter untill you can learn the way a little better. Walmart has 18 hour hand warmers that work great.
Hot hands hand warmers. I put them inside sleeping bag. Not cold anymore
Get yourself a small pup 🎉tent put over your bed. Your breath and body heat will help keep you warm. Do you have a portable solar power pack? Get a electric blanket. Use tea lights with clay pot with hole in bottom over the tea light. This will get the pot hot and heat a little bit .

Winters up North are no joke. When you can, you should purchase an insulated sleeping bag and some long johns to sleep in.

Until you can get a mini diesel heater i would get a buddy heater and a propane tank to keep warm for cheap. Insulate your van this summer my guy. Check your local town dumps for foam board too depending on your state.

Get a Mr. Buddy heater that hooks up to a propane tank it cost about 20 bucks to fill it, but you MUST HAVE THE WINDOW CRACKED ABOUT AN INCHE, so the fumes do NOT unalive you in your sleep. Also, a CO2 monitor helps alot, because it beeps when CO2 is too high.
